Sublime shopping experience- I was assisted by a handsome young man named Freddie who guided me through the perfect tent, mat and shoes for me.

I have been to Ilkley store at least 10 times over recent years. Previous visits I have had positive experiences with staff but today the young lad working upstairs really stood out for his natural, positive service with a smile. Ben I found out his name was. I never write positive or negative reviews but I just want to compliment a quality member of staff for his fantastic attitude and friendliness. Really hope he's appreciated and supported by the company as a great asset to the team. Happy camping and walking Ben.

A clean well organised store with great products and prices to suit all pockets.
I really wanted to write this review as Freddie at the Ilkley store helped my adult son and me when we were looking for the ideal footwear to suit our needs. His product knowledge was very impressive and he knew the kind of fit that each brand offered. An extremely helpful and very pleasant young man who clearly enjoys his work whilst dealing with the general public. He was approachable, friendly, patient and professional.
A true star and a member of staff to be valued and appreciated.

Lovely friendly staff especially Ben who served us today. He was very helpful, nothing was too much trouble for him and he was knowledgeable about the walking shoes also. He’s a credit to Ilkley Go Outdoors.

Fantastic value for money.

Love Go Outdoors been buying from there for every camping trip since kids were smaller. New air tent is great and me and husband are still married after putting it up! Problems with order sorted by great staff and resolved no problems at all.

I was warmly welcomed as soon as I was in the store. After I found what I was looking for I asked for some advice which Tia and Laura were very helpful about. There was an item I needed for my son’s DofE that was online only and when I explained we had tried to order it the previous evening but the website kept saying his DofE number wasn’t recognised so I hadn’t been able to order it, they set about sorting it out there and then for me as they explained there was a blip in the system, which resulted in my order being placed, thanks to them both! Great employees!

REFERENCE: Go Outdoors - Peter Storm walking shoes

I purchased a Peter Storm walking shoes from Go Outdoors. At the point of purchase I paid £25.00.

After 5 months of use the shoes, which I purchased, have holes in the bottom of both heels, letting water in. They were advertised and bought as walking shoes without any restrictions as to where I could wear them. I have taken them back to the shop where I purchased them and the store manager refused a refund because I had worn these walking shoes on the pavements, going shopping and walking round town, he said "these were made for walking on softer ground". If this was the case why were these not described as only for use on soft ground? It should be made clear, to customers, before purchase, that there are limitations as to where these shoes can be worn. I pointed out that all my other "walking shoes", which I have worn, from other manufacturers, such as Skechers, Mountain Warehouse and Trespass, have all lasted over 12 month when they have been used on the same terrain. The store manager also refused to accept that the shoes could be a faulty pair during the manufacturing process, he said "any fault would have happened to a whole batch" If I had known these shoes were not to be used when walking on pavements I would not have bought them
I do not believe that 5 months is a reasonable length of time for a pair of walking shoes to last, which have been used in the correct manner, as described by the seller, for walking.

The Consumer Rights Act 2015 makes it an implied term of the contract I have with Go Outdoors that goods be as described, fit for purpose and of satisfactory

These shoes were bought and return at the Ilkley branch

I have already rung customer services who say that I have to return the walking shoes to head office for inspection!! WHY?

Bought a pair of Merrell walking shoes and the new assistant couldn’t have been more helpful

I visited the Ilkley store before Christmas and was served by a wonderful assistant called Tia. They were just wonderful. I was wanting a couple of buffys & Tia informed me of a fabulous offer & helped me make my choices . Excellent customer service. Very friendly & professional.

Freddie was really helpful in a very busy shop yesterday. He was calm and informative but not pushy. I got some great boots thank you!

Tia went out of her way to find items from upstairs when I couldn’t go up myself - and then up again to deliver other options. All staff (Tia, Garry and Billy) were kind and helpful, and I got what I needed!

I bought a pair of Peter Storm walking boots from the Go Outdoors Ilkley store on the recommendation of The Which? Report. Scarlett, the sales assistant, was very helpful indeed.
The boots are excellent and roughly £100 cheaper than many other brands
