A great experience
My experience was amazing, I got to see animals I had never seen before and get up close to them, working to help and care for them. Not only that, but the people I worked with were incredibly friendly and helpful.
I would definitely recommend GoEco’s Wildlife Walkabout Sanctuary program to anyone who may be interested in working with Australia’s wildlife

Exceeded Every Expectation!
I have to admit, I was pretty skeptical at first because it almost sounded too good to be true, but they completely blew my expectations out of the water! My 9-year-old son and I had an incredible time visiting the Rescue Center in Costa Rica. It was the perfect mix of fun and hands-on learning, and we both came away with unforgettable memories.

This volunteer program was a truly wonderful
This volunteer program was a truly amazing experience that I will always remember. It gave me the opportunity to meet people from all over the world and build genuine connections with them. The friendships and memories you make during a trip like this are truly special and impossible to replace.
One of my favorite parts of the experience was disconnecting from technology and enjoying real-life moments while spending so much time in nature. It allowed me to be more present, appreciate my surroundings, and enjoy every day in a different way.
Although I was not there during the hatching season, I had the incredible opportunity to witness sea turtles laying their eggs. It was something I had never experienced before, and being able to observe them so closely while learning about the nesting process was unforgettable. I learned so much about sea turtles, their behavior, and the importance of protecting them. Seeing them in their natural habitat was one of the most memorable parts of the entire program.
Another activity that I really enjoyed was helping clean the beach. We collected plastic and many other types of trash that had washed up on the shore. It was surprising to see some of the things we found because they were items you would never expect to see on a beach. Afterward, we sorted the waste we had collected, which helped me better understand the impact of pollution on marine ecosystems and why every small action can make a difference.
We also participated in a tree-planting activity, during which we planted around 160 trees. It was very rewarding to know that our work will have a positive and lasting impact on the environment in Sirena. Being able to contribute to the restoration of the area made me feel like I was leaving something meaningful behind.
During the program, we also participated in several permaculture activities, such as digging the soil and making compost. To be honest, those tasks were not my favorite part of the experience, and I was not expecting them because they had not been mentioned beforehand. However, I understand that they are an important part of maintaining the project and supporting environmental conservation.
One of the highlights of the program was that we were able to go to the beach almost every day and swim in the ocean. Those moments made the experience even more enjoyable and created some of my favorite memories.
I would also like to thank the staff. Alejandra was an amazing coordinator who was always responsible, supportive, and attentive to everyone. She made sure everything ran smoothly while also creating a fun and welcoming environment where we could enjoy ourselves.
I also want to give a special thank you to the staff at Sirena, especially Rony. He was incredibly kind, friendly, and welcoming from the very beginning. He has such a warm personality and always made everyone feel comfortable. His positive attitude really helped make the experience even more enjoyable.
Overall, I truly enjoyed this volunteer experience, and I am very grateful for everything I learned, the people I met, and the memories I made. I would absolutely love to participate in another GoEco volunteer program in the future, especially once I turn 18, because I believe it would allow me to have an even more enriching and different experience. Thank you for giving me the opportunity to be part of such a meaningful project.

A Dreamy Fisherman's Town + Scuba!
The initial onboarding meetings, along with the digital checklist reminders, were really helpful leading up to the trip to ensure we had everything we needed.
Steni Val was truly a magical little fisherman town on Alonissos! The local restaurants were such a surprise, and really made our week stay so relaxing and accessible to grab meals, coffees, and drinks as we needed!
Billy and his team were so professional throughout our diving, snorkeling, and beach clean up adventures. The dive team made this trip unforgettable both in the water and also by sharing insights about the island!!

In the Rescue Center it is true that we were a lot of people and we don’t have to much work, that finally you go there to work with the animals and you are a few times in there.
Around the Rescue Center you don’t have to much to do, so you always have to take an Uber to move.

GoEco saved the day!
Following the abrupt closure of GVI, we were delighted to have found GoEco so quickly as an alternative to use our existing flights. They were fantastic from the off, building a bespoke package for us. They gave us the reassurance we needed throughout our speedy booking and were incredibly helpful hosting Zoom calls with Cass and the Mexico Team.
The location in Mexico was great because it was a warm, tropical country. The water and the reef were perfect, with a variety of sea life and corals. Takata Dive School was amazing. They were great teachers and very helpful before and during the trip. I am now PADI qualified and have the bug for diving!
Peye was a hit as a chaperone, as he was very engaging with everyone and enjoyed spending time with us and telling us all about Mexico. He made it really fun!
I have made great friends and have been lucky to explore Mexico with a fab bunch of people. I thoroughly recommend GoEco.

Volunteering with my 14 year old son
I volunteered at the Animal Rescue Center in Costa Rica with my 14 year old son and had the best time. It was such an incredible opportunity for him to work with young adults, on their GAP year, in High School, College and beyond and to learn about all the work the center is doing. The two sisters who run the program are incredible and everything is so well organized. We loved it all, the sloths, the parrots, the people, the location, all of it. Would definitely recommend it for families or older teenagers going solo. I wish I had an opportunity to do a program like this when I was a teenager.

Loved working with the turtles!
Loved working with the turtles. We fed and cleaned them (and their tanks) everyday, then we were lucky enough to release some turtles back into the wild. Great balance between work and downtime. We stayed in the family accommodation, with our 14 yr old - villa was a little small, but adequate, and set next to a lovely pool. Great massage place and laundry available on site, with shops and restaurants within a few minutes walk.

Supportive organisation for meaningful impact and friendships
The organisation was very supportive all the way, with regular information and check-ins prior to the trip and during. This gives a lot of assurance as often with a first time volunteering project the program can otherwise feel like you’re taking a risk. Here, it was all smooth and we had confidence all the way. The impact activities the volunteers engaged in were meaningful and well planned with evident prior engagement with stakeholders to prep the way for the group’s contribution. The other activities were very rewarding and the group dynamics were excellent; my daughter came away with lasting friendships (they already plan to meet up in a reunion later in the year!). Overall I definitely recommend GoEco volunteer trips.

Unforgettable trip
Unforgettable trip, learned a lot from very knowledgable people, had a lot of sightings of dolphine, we were very lucky. Angelo is not just a perfect captain but an excellent cook, Luka as well was super nice company. Our volunteer group was great, we are keeping in touch. The boat is small for sleeping, I slept on the deck, which was OK but if the weather was colder I think we would have been very scrambled in the sleeping area. I had a great time and I am very grateful to the whole team for giving this wonderful experience. It was my dream to get on an expedition boat for dolphins, the expeirence exceeded my expectations thanks to the crew and my dear volunteer mates.

Costa Rica Rescue Center
I wanted to give you a quick update on our stay in Costa Rica.
Overall, we are doing well. Everyone we have met has been very kind, welcoming, helpful, and approachable. We truly appreciate the friendliness of the staff, managers and the people we have interacted with.
The only challenge for us has been the food provided at the center. Unfortunately, it has not been to our family’s taste, so we have been eating lunch and dinner outside almost every day, which has become an unexpected additional expense.
I would also like to share an observation—not as a criticism, but simply as feedback that may be helpful. The center currently has to much volunteers from different programs, and because the facility is not to big, the animals areas often feel overcrowded. As a result, sometimes it can be difficult to fully participate or find space to do much during free time.
I would also make it clear that the rescue center is not a hotel. It is a humble place with basic accommodations, and several volunteers may share a room and common areas. Anyone staying there should come prepared to focus on helping the animals rather than expecting hotel comforts or restaurant-style meals.
Regarding the hotel ( in my case) the staff has been excellent. They have always been very helpful and have done their best to accommodate any requests we have had. However, I do wish we had known in advance which hotel we would be staying at. Had I known, I would have gladly paid a little more for a different option. Our room does not have a refrigerator, microwave, or even a trash can, so we have had to rely on the hotel staff to store our food in their refrigerator and help us heat it when needed. Additionally, the bed has been quite uncomfortable.
Other than these observations, we are doing well and are grateful for the opportunity to be here.

My Experience;
My experience was nothing short of brilliant. From exploring the beautiful country of Costa Rica, studying (Latin American) Spanish in a classroom and working alongside generous and talented people at a Rescue Centre.
My experience started with completing a week (Latin American) Spanish course. Giving me the knowledge and communication skills to prevail upon any challenges I faced socially further on my experience. This course was taught by fantastic, knowledgeable teachers, who made it extremely easy to understand the language and challenging aspects but also have fun. During this time I was also provided lodging with a host family. They were so friendly and welcoming and I never felt out of place. It made learning the language easier as it was very minimal English. But that pushed me to work harder and get to know these wonderful people. They also provided authentic Costa Rican food and a beautiful abode to rest and sleep in. In sum it was an experience I will never forget and provided me with invaluable knowledge.
The next portion was volunteering at Costa Rica Animal Rescue Centre. This experience was one that I recommended to anyone curious. But definitely for those who have a love for animals. The accommodation was outstanding along with the authentic, delicious food provided by the delightful cooks. The cleaning services provided by a wonderful woman. And ran by some of the most lovely welcoming people I have ever met. I gained knowledge that is inaccessible to anyone unwilling to try. And experience in a challenging yet fulfilling field. I learnt to prepare food for the animals in a correct manner. Clean and disinfect enclosures. And a vast array of other skills that will help me not only in the field but in daily life also. Despite the sometimes early wake up. There is always coffee and that was just the cherry on top. Between that. The spectacular diversity of animals. And the kind souls there. It is a place I will never forget
Go Eco offered me this. And helped me in a difficult portion of my life. Through them I have met the most amazing people, including people at go eco themselves. Who offered me experiences, guidance and support which I am so humbly appreciative of. To anyone I recommended choosing an experience like mine, with GoEco.
