What next problem with home page turned Freesat box on only to see on tv that says something wrong on showcase check in a few minutes same message been showing all day oh well wonder what the next problem will be next .good news problem resolved if you have this problem do a channel scan and this should solve the issue 👍

Head of software sets new standard of awfulness
Like all the others I started out with a fully functioning box and the updates are progressively crippling it.
Freesat management need to fire the software team!
Just as you thought it couldn't get worse, it did.
It was already bad since the last "update" but somehow things are just getting even worse.
Now, in addition to the "we are setting up your dish" message seen each morning, I am now getting "you are not connected to the internet" message, despite being hard connected via Ethernet.
I really do not know why anyone would buy this box, it's like a pre-beta device now. The 4K box's only redeeming feature was its fast-startup in the morning, now that has gone, it has no redeeming features at all.
I highly recommend looking elsewhere for a set-top box.

Freesat is absolute rubbish and somehow it has got even worse since the last upgrade. Loss of signal is becoming an all to regular problem. From lunchtime on Friday 3 Jan till very late on Saturday 4 Jan I didn't have any signal. Same thing has just happened today. Freesat customer service is not available until tomorrow Monday 13 Jan. There isn't a breath of wind today, neither is it raining or snowing. I can't even watch recorded programmes as the screen is only showing the "We are setting up your dish. This may take a short while" caption. What a dreadful service. They should be ashamed.
Total Rubbish since the last update.
There was nothing wrong with freesat until the latest update. Now the box checks the satellite dish continuously and constantly reports problems with the hard drive resulting in all recordings been lost. Moral of the story don't change what dosn't need changing and sack the ones responsible for the latest update which created a totally useless service.

Lasted just over the year so out of warranty, harddrive problems seem to be a major issue. Customer service also very slow at responding. Would not recommend.
When it rains it pours ...
Takes ages to just watch normal TV . I get the messages telling me that they are trying to locate a signal . In this day and age , it should work instantly .
I get messages telling me the cables have been moved when it is the rain outside making my signal useless!.
As for the cables ..useless,fragile and fiddly! I never know if they will fall out of the box !
My cause for complaints are basically twofold; while watching the evening news, the signal stopped ! Blank screen . I know it was raining heavily at the time , and still raining today . 25 hrs later ..still no signal !
The humax box ors allow me to watch you tube which I do subscribe to , so there is something .
The other thing , my last humax lasted from 2017-2024 then I had to purchase another ..£250 + iirc for a recordable one to avoid adverts . Certainly not free! The new box is not as good as the previous one .
So, how long have I got to wait to watch TV again??.
Hopefully tomorrow if the weather improves . I may have to purchase a freely tv and quit this mess of a company ... I inherited the dish when I moved into my present home . I wanted to avoid sky etc ,but there was no ordinary aerial so I tried this . Seems like a big mistake now ..

Very clunky and slow in operation. Cycling through the functions is not intuitive and the remote range is very poor.
They have now removed the remote record function from the app so it renders it pretty useless for my requirements.

I have has a Freesat 4k box for years…
I have has a Freesat 4k box for years since I ditched Sky and it has served me well, until the so-called upgrade in October and " what a bag of "*%!t" that turned out to be, the EPG has a mind of it own sometimes it populates but most times it just does about 3 or 4 at the bottom.
When its first switched on it spends a good 1-2 minutes "setting up my dish" the same dish it set up the last time I switched it on.
Who ever programmed this load of rubbish needs to give up there job and start selling news papers on a street corned as thats all there fit for. This applies to the person that signed it off as a "good idea".
Anyway I wont have to put up with this crap any longer as I have now moved over to a "Humax Aura 1TB 4K Freeview Play TV UHD Smart Android Freeview Recorder" so lets hope they dont employ the idiot that did the freesat box .This box is going to the tip

Since a significant downgrade a couple of months ago the system has been riddled with bugs which the company sends to have no intention of fixing. Now awful to use!!!

Every time I switch it on it tells me it is connecting the dish , then tells me no signal , then I turn it off and on again and it decides to work .
The programme information is so small it is unreadable from the armchair .
When I use the remote to go to ITV X it freezes , when it does get going the programme selection feature doesn't work .
I had a Freesat box and the update messed it up so I bought a new one thinking it would be fine but NO just as bad as ever . £200 down the drain .

I agrre with all the reviews what a terrible update and why ? I used to praise Freesat before the update now it is a nightmare. I think I will have to to switch to SKY or BT unless there another update soon to correct this mess but it seems as though Freesat are not interested as they have not bothered with a response.

Issues compulsory updates that you cannot decline which removes functions from the box after purchase and latest update installed new program guide which fails to populate properly with many channels showing No Data.

Been happy for long time with freesat 4k box until latest software update... Now the box has to " set up my dish" every time its turned on and also the new guide menu is slow and clunky and NOT user friendy.. Why change something that worked fine.. Seriously considering dumping this and going for a freeview recording box.. Pity freesat DOESNT listen to its customers and only does what IT wants

received reply to my complaint to Freesat, Ignored my complaint about slow guide menu now. Told me that box will now always " set up dish" when start now and just put up with the 30 seconds it wastes doing it.. Terrible that paying a lot of money for a box that DID work well has now been reduced to the spare room as we now have a freeview Aura recordable box now

October software update has caused more problems than improving things.
£249.00 for a box then it’s countless factory resets which cancels everything ! Recordings passwords etc !
The app does nothing but tells you what’s on, you can’t even watch the recordings that you’ve recorded on your account, it would be laughable if I hadn’t spent £249 !
The customer service team are as much use as a chocolate fire guard who know as much about what they are doing as the customer,so trying to get technical support is a joke. clearly sat in front of a computer reading a drop down menu on the computer screen in front of them.
Out of frustration you try to escalate the issue and oh errr there’s no one available you’ll have send an email
SAVE YOUR MONEY IS MY ADVICE and don’t waste your money with this nonsense because it’s nothing but problems ! A complete waste of time and money

Absolute rubbish since the October 2024 'upgrade' box keeps dropping and re setting itself every time you turn it on. I have tried every form of resetting as suggested by Freesat's poor support service .

Well what are the so-called boffins at Freesat up to been with Freesat since there they started broadcasting had then a humax box with was very reliable. Then in June I purchased a aris box was pleased at first. Then you could not program what you wanted to record from your phone.wich for me was a good selling point.the last straw was there software update in October so every time I switch on the box it comes up with we are setting up your dish then other times when turning box on the home page appears.before there software update had no problems with the box. Sorry to say that since there update everyone seems to have issues why they had to to do this software updates I’ll never know.it definitely has not improved Freesat service.on the plus side picture quality is good also sound quality is good. But when recording a series the box can’t always cope missing some recordings. Finally Freesat could be such a brilliant service but sorry to say that they at this point in time have lost their way.🙁🙁😢 update 15/12/2024 latest software update 2/12/2024 when turning box on for first time the box displays home page at the same time in background setting up your dish. I tried sorting out this by doing a factory reset but did not resolve the problem.
Hard drive dead again
The hard drive on the first Freesat box I bought died at 14 months so out of warranty.
I hoped this was just bad luck so I bought another one and when I got past 18 months felt a bit of relief.
But at just 25 months the same thing happened.
This means I have spent approximately £300 to get just 3 years of TV.
I contacted Freesat who suggested when I buy my next one I buy extended warranty, but as that is only an additional year it would be £50 wasted if it only last 25 months again.
I find it hard to believe that I am just very unlucky to have the same fault on two boxes bought a year apart. And I will not be buying another one.
Rubbish since last update.
Had the freesat box about 2 years now. I was happy with it until October update, now the EPG is AWFUL, writing too small no program information with out pressing additional buttons. Not consumer friendly at all.
The sound quality has always been very poor and no change since update. Certainly won't invest in another box, will be looking at other options.
