Free People? Free to SCAM their customers, you mean.
Same story as so many other people here. I mailed two items that I wanted to return to the Free People return center on April 1st. I can see via UPS tracking that they arrived on April 10th (which is much later than they were projected to arrive, but apparently there were transit glitches). To this day, Free People hasn't logged in the return. I've tried to contact them repeatedly. No answer. They seem to be intentionally not logging in the package as "returned" so they don't have to refund my money, which is a significant amount in my world. I'm livid. They're thieves and scam artists, full stop. I've spent a ton of money on their clothing over the past 20 years, and this is an egregious and unconscionable way to treat their customers. NEVER AGAIN, YOU LOWLIFES.

They would not offer me a full refund unless it was returned first and lied when I asked to be sent a replacement and said it was out of stock! When I had already checked myself and could see on the website it was not !
Appalling treatment of their customers and I have been waiting over two weeks to get a response from head office over how they are going to compensate as they charged even more for the swimsuit than the original company who make it did !

I bought this plaid shirt while I was in Nashville had it shipped to my house loved it fit me perfect.
When I got home and washed it in gentle all the roughly stitching fell apart in different spots on the shirt.
Course it was past 30 days they wouldn’t give me a refund so they gave me a discount. I bought another one.
That one was like an extra small after I washed it and the same thing happened, but they did give me my refund and let me keep the shirt. For the price of their clothing, you think their quality would be better very disappointed. Everywhere qualities gone as shit anymore.:(

J’ai dû retourner l’article à mes frais, ce qui est déjà très décevant. Mais le plus problématique, c’est que pour me rembourser les frais de retour, le service client m’a demandé mes coordonnées bancaires par mail… ce que j’ai refusé pour des raisons évidentes de sécurité.
Résultat : aucun remboursement.
Je trouve cela totalement inacceptable et peu professionnel.
Site peu sérieux, je ne recommande pas du tout.

Refund eventually received, but the process was extremely frustrating and time-consuming.
I returned five items in one parcel, which was confirmed delivered. Free People initially refunded only two items, despite clearly having received the full return. I then had to chase repeatedly over several weeks.
Customer service gave inconsistent responses, repeatedly asked for unnecessary proof (including a receipt I could not have as the parcel was collected), and made promises to escalate that were never followed up.
This was clearly an internal warehouse issue, yet I was left to do all the chasing. I only received the remaining refund after informing them I would be initiating a chargeback.
Based on this experience, I would be very hesitant to order again.

Drifted into Free People and it turned into a full on try on session. The pieces are flowy, unique, and easy to style without trying too hard. The store feels airy and inviting, great for shopping with a friend. Walked out with a look I didn't know I needed.
Great customer service
I love free people! I ordered a dress from their website that was somewhat pricey. I was so excited to wear it to an event, until I put it on there was a flaw - it was honestly defective. I reached out to their support team (via text) and sent photos of the issue. They were extremely responsive, kind, and resolved the issue within an hour. I was so shocked with how quickly they took care of this, and they are keeping a customer!

They don’t need any more information, they’re just insisting on waiting and waiting for a deadline which never seems to come. Certainly will not be ordering again. Chargeback likely necessary. Terrible customer service
I love the clothing brand Free People but need to point out that the customer service is absolutely awful! If you pay for express shipping… it’s not. If they lose your parcel they won’t even refund the shipping. I think it’s worth noting these are not cheap pieces of clothing but they truly treat you better at Asda!!
Countless issues—zero accountability
The most recent incident doesn’t matter. Years of loyalty, thousands spent—and countless issues: damaged items, missing pieces, low-quality products, account restriction (like, what?!)—becomes hours wasted fixing their mistakes.
At some point, I need to recognize this pattern IS their business model.
FP’s response? Copy & paste replies, zero effort to resolve & prevent, and ultimately no real accountability.
There’s a clear message: my money does not matter!
In a time when people are being more intentional with spending - amid significant economic pressures - this level of disregard is unacceptable. Customers ARE the reason your business exists.
But that loyalty clearly isn’t mutual.

I ordered the Emerson tote and just received it, absolutely devastated!! Not the color I ordered and I was shipped a USED damaged bag! There was gum wrapper trash and crumbs in it, 3 broken metal feet on the bottom, pen marks on the leather, big scratches on the leather from someone’s nails it looks like, no store tag on purse!!!! I have never had even one problem with anything I’ve ordered from Free People. I have received probably 30 shipments from them in the past 6 months and have been very happy with everything I’ve ordered. The clothes are excellent. The shipping is fully within their stated window. I am perplexed at how they have received so many negative reviews when I’ve ordered so much and haven’t had even one issue. I suspect some of these negative reviews are trolls. Anytime I’ve needed to return, I take it into the store and the clerks are friendly and exceedingly competent and no questions are asked. I want more Free People!!!

Received we the free Camden sweatshirt today Rrp £70 - it arrived with at least 15 serious defects. Really poor. Am sending it back for a full refund.
