Company has charged us for years on a monthly basis, except for this past December when they hit us with a 3 day bill 60+ days past our last usage date. Paid our last bill January 6th, confirmed on a company statement that our balance was $0 on February 12th. Yet they added a new bill after that and failed to inform us as allegedly they updated our account phone number the previous September from the number we have been paying from for years to a random number that is not mine nor my wife's nor anyone we have ever known, this phone update was not approved by us. Now (August of the following year) when i need money fast and went to get a loan, im told my credit dropped from 817 to 660 due to this company sending a $37 bill to debt collections over a payment we were never informed of. Nearly impossible to get company to make things right or take action in a timely manner.

Poor customer service in getting assistance

I am resident at Oakhurst NJ! My home has been without power since 2:00 p.m. on July 3, and as of July 8, I still do not have electricity.
This outage is not related to the storm or severe weather. My power went out before the storm arrived, yet every update I receive blames the weather or provides another AI-generated estimated restoration time that never happens.
I have submitted numerous outage reports and requests for assistance, but no one has contacted me or come to inspect the problem. The only responses I receive are automated messages, with no real customer support.
Living without power for several days during extremely hot weather has been unbearable. It’s been difficult to sleep, and I had to throw away all the food in my refrigerator because it spoiled.
I am asking JCPL to have someone respond to my case, come to my home, identify the cause of the outage, and restore my power as soon as possible. Customers deserve timely communication and real assistance, not just automated updates and inaccurate restoration estimates.

My electricity was turned off by my tenant (without coordinating with me( who left on Friday evening. I have been trying to get my power back on since then. They can't be reached on weekends. I called the company at 8 am and I was told that nothing can be done until tomorrow due to billing system. It can be switched on automatically from their end without having a person come to the house. I told them that I hadn't had power for 3 days: no light, no appliances for basic needs etc. The lady on the phone replied "I understand". I asked her if she had power andcthat she she clearly doesn't understand. They had the ability to switch my power on but because of the billing system they wouldn't. Talk about putting people first! It will be 4 days ​without power. She put me through to a supervisor to expedite it but she read the same script. Zero customer service or understanding. I felt like I was talking to a robot. Very disappointing. I will be calling around for a new electric provider.

First i had to give one star to post a review they deserve zero. I moved out of my house I was buying on land contract because the owner lied about the tax’s being current. I moved out in March of 2022 and I rented for awhile and purchased another place in April of 2026 and called to get electric in my name and they said when I paid the $3,000 dollar bill and I said for what? Turns out the electricity was left on for the owner for one and a half year after I moved out and for that price I must have paid for the entire town I moved from so I sent court documents and a letter/lease from a lady who was terminally ill that I was staying with around the clock until she passed, that was almost two months ago and have not heard one word from anyone at first energy. The rates go up several times per year. I think everyone should have the option of two electric utilities not just one and you gotta pay their ridiculous rates or go without. First energy/ Mon Power keeps getting richer and the consumer is in their debt forever unless another power company comes through. What a shame this company is.

Constant climbing prices, mixed with the illiterate third party they use to "make it convenient to pay your bill" makes this company insufferable to deal with. The third party system only allows me to pay my bill in guest mode because it has no idea who I am if I log into my account. The monopoly that's been allowed by some of these companies needs to be broken down. Then they need to be forced to fix everything they made worse "for your convenience".

I host servers for companies and over the last 6 months they have only been online 93.3% of the time due to power going out 14 today times today or a few time a week about 15 power flashes a month minimum fried a monitor this was all the same day

I've been a client of this companies affiliate, JCP&L since June 2009. Dozens of outages since 2009, five this year alone.

Poor service, difficult management to reach, few answers for the endless outages.

Don't buy property they service, they can't or won't maintain the grid effectively.

IF yoi are late a few times you pay a massive deposit . Held for a year or else. OVER 25 MILLION IN PA one year. Lets add all your territories. THEY DEPOSIT IT. INFO NOT AVAILABLE TO THE PUBLIC. WHAT BANK, WHAT PURPOSE. THEY GIVE YOU A LITTLE OVER 5% INTEREST BASED OUT OF JERSEY FROM A FRONT CO.WITH FRACTIONAL BANKING HOW MUCH MONEY IS THAT?
