Best car rent company in Lapand

We rent a Caravelle for 9 people in Rovaniemi. The car was excellent! Quality/price was best compared to other agencies. I forgot my mobile phone in the car and they were very reactive. They sent it back to me in few days. I completly recommend Finnrent!

Extremely Disappointing and Unprofessional

This was one of the worst rental experiences I’ve ever had. We were charged €72 for fuel, even though only €17 worth of fuel was missing. On our way to the Rovaniemi airport there were no gas stations available, and despite our efforts to inform the company, no staff was present at the airport desk. Absolutely no support, no assistance, nothing.

When we finally reached them by email, their reply was simply: “This is the charge.”
No understanding, no flexibility, no human approach whatsoever.

Honestly, avoid this company. Don’t make the same mistake. If something goes wrong, there is no one to help you, and all they know is how to charge excessive fees without any explanation or willingness to assist.

Don’t pickup the phone and just let you wait

Zero start would be more appreciated.
Don’t use the information they have on arrival, called over half an hour before I came through. After 12 minutes you the phone automatically hangs up.
They asked me to wait an hour to get the car, worst service I ever had.

Don’t use this company!!!!!

Highly unprofessional

They offered me a significant downgrade for a car and I had multiple unexpected charges that required a lot of back and forth to be solved with an extremely unresponsive customer support team.

Avoid

Avoid - they are not a member of the ECRCS (European Car Rental Conciliation Service) preferring to be a member of some other organisation that puts all the onus on the customer.

I don't rent cars often so got suckered. They accused me of damaging a car (I did not) and because the customer service was poor I have little comeback. Nobody showed me the car before getting it, they actually left the airport before I got the car, no-one checked it back in until the next day after drop off, and then claimed it was damaged. OK, I was dumb, I thought everyone in Finland is honest or something and didn't go around photographing everything in the -20 weather, I didn't insist on the car being checked with me there (there was no-one to insist to). When I asked for CCTV to show the damage was done in my possession they claimed there was no CCTV. Must be the only airport in Europe without security I guess. Obviously they then said the repair bill was massive (>1500 euro for a bumper repair I could have bought off ebay, flown there and fit myself for less). Then tried to take money off my card without my permission whilst we were still in dispute i.e. stealing.

And by the way, the car was covered in damage when I got it, so I'm confident they just trouser the money rather than spending it on actual repairs.

No one at the desk, and got a different car than what I ordered

Rented a car with pickup at the Rovirmi train station. I sent an email the day before for some info, and no reply at all.

No one was at the desk at the pickup time and the phone number provided to contact them was inactive. After waiting 30 minutes, they showed up. Not even an apology for the delay.

The guy gave the keys and left immediately.

To my surprise, I booked a manual car and when I took it, it was automatic. I choose manual on purpose, and got something different than I booked. Nothing was there anymore to complain about and get what I ordered.

Very bad experience. I would not recommend it.

Ma location s’est très bien passée

Ma location s’est très bien passée. Je suis arrivé à l’aéroport de Rovianemi et j’ai été très bien accueilli. Ma voiture était géniale ! J’ai une petite discussion par mail pour l’essence car j’ai été facturé de 20€ mais c’était une erreur de leur part !
Mon expérience fait que je peux que les recommander.

Offered us free booster seats as compensation, came home 3 weeks later charges taken out of bank account from insurance deposit for these. Now refuse to answer emails.

Not worth the low initial price

We booked a car online for Rovaniemi Airport. After our arrival at the defined time, no one was at the counter, we called the number displayed there and after some time it was answered. Half an hour later the guy arrived and gave us our car. The process itself, after the long waiting time, was without any issues, everything was as booked.

We got to the car, which already had some small damages, but everything seemed to be already noted in the contract.
The manual shift was really rough, sometimes the gears had to be put in several times until it worked, nothing I have ever seen in a car with roughly 100.000km.

After the return of the car, they send me a mail for a damage, that I do not even know how to produce and they charged 1000€.
Unfortunately, I have no pictures of this car part (inside of the left wheel house).

I will never use this service again, as I never experienced anything like that before, with other rental agents.

Negative Reviews Not Reflective of Experience

I was very concerned about using Finn Rent on a recent trip due to all the negative reviews online. However, their low price and vehicle selection won me over, and I had a great experience!

First, we needed a car with a tow hook, automatic transmission, and room for four adults during a two month rental. On previous trips other rental companies had promised such vehicles but failed to deliver causing all sorts of complications (making multiple trips, delivery charges, deferring projects, etc.). Finn Rent specified the exact make, model and features on the vehicle and delivered it to the airport for our pickup.

Second, the pick-up process is different from the standard in-terminal kiosk. However, we received map one week prior to our pick-up and the cars were easy to find at the airport parking (P3, 1st floor, each under big "FinnRent" signs). We arrived about 45min early (you specify pick date and time when making reservations) so there was no one there to give us keys. Quick phone call to a polite service agent told us that their on-site rep would be notified and be about 5min. Both the service agent on the phone and in-person rep spoke both English and Finnish.

Third, we drove the car for two months all over Finland, and while we gave it a good once over it was still clearly well travelled. Bugs squashed on the front grill, dirt in the door sills and trunk lid. There were normal stone chips on the front fascia when we picked it up, the on-site rep said to ignore them, and only noted a couple of more significant paint chips on the back bumper. I'm sure driving on dirt roads we added a few more stone chips to the front fascia. We received our final bill about two weeks after return with no additional charges. I will update this review should that change over the coming months.

The only reason this is not a five-star review is that the car had worn brakes (driver's side front) that intermittently squealed when we picked it up and were grinding by the time we returned the vehicle. This was extremely surprising given vehicles in Finland are required to undergo annual inspections. I called the service rep again upon return because all the designated FinnRent spots were occupied and made note of this. Unfortunately, they didn't even take down our name so I doubt this would lead to any maintenance on the car which was disappointing.

Overall, a great experience and terrific value. Unless there are any further charges on the rental, I plan to use FinnRent again next year.

Finnrent veloittaa ylihintaa…

Finnrent veloittaa ylihintaa vuokrauksesta. Netin kautta kun maksaa auton vuokran, lisäksi paikanpäällä veloitetaan lisänä panttimaksuna useita satasia(!!). Eli käytännössä vuokra maksaa tuplahinnan. Kannattaa lukea myös omavastuusta, käytännössä sillä ei ole mitään katetta.

False price tags?

Tried to rent a car from Finnrent which had the best offer of all rental companies at Helsinki airport - However after filling my information into the rental reservation, all the sudden the price had increased almost 100 Euros (approx 25% form original price). I do vote with my feet when I see businesses operating in this manner and recommend this to others as well. Thank you.

Scam company operating at Helsinki airport

We booked a car to collect at Helsinki airport. The instructions they gave to find a parking lot were INCORRECT, so we wasted a lot of time trying to find it. Finally after finding it - noone was there. All this time we were trying to call the contact number we were given - noone was answering this phone number of course. We had to book another car with another company at that day and due to short notice they haven't got a child seat, so again we wasted time to find child seat elsewhere. All this was a fault of FinnRent. I'm not even sure anymore if this is a real rental company or a scam - but please never use it. They are not returning back a money they took from me. There are lots of other more reputable car rentals at the airport, with dedicated desk and staff always present and helpful.
I will be writing to Helsinki airport themselves so they remove this irresponsible 'business' from their premises. We wasted hours at this parking lot waiting for anyone to show up or answer a phone, with bags and tired children. Terrible experience, all thanks to FinnRent

I've been scammed

I booked a car for my mökki trip a month before the date. I chose FW Golf Variant for its big trunk. However, I actually got Toyota Corolla Hybrid, which was smaller and somewhat damaged. I didn't pay too much attention since all the damage was documented.

While the car was in a parking lot, somebody hit a bumper and left a small scratch in addition to three other damage points that were already there. I contacted Finnrent. They told me not to worry and to send them photos of the damage, which I did immediately.

After the end of the rent, I got a bill for 1500€ for the bumper replacement, which is ridiculous! I managed to figure out the name of the service center which did repairs, and a kind person there sent me all the details. Turns out, they were estimating repair costs without taking the previous damage into account, so I was paying for everything!

Also, during my rent, I got a flat tire. There was no spare wheel in the trunk, so I had to call an evacuation service. Finnrent was going to charge me both for the towing and tire replacement.

I was hoping the insurance I selected on the website will cover it but turns out the 1500€ liability is per damage **instance**, so they could go as high as 3000€.

After collecting evidence from the service center that repaired the bumper, Finnrent bailed off a bit and agreed to take "only" one 1500€ charge.

Firma tekee 10% liikevoiton kilpaillulla alalla, se kertoo kaiken. Käyttää estoitta hyväksi tietämättömiä.

Epäluotettava

Varasin sähköauton Opel Corsa-e:n Finn-Rentin Helsinki-Vantaan toimipisteestä lähes kaksi kuukautta etukäteen. Varaus onnistui kätevästi koska sivuilla pystyi etsimään autoa käyttövoiman perusteella.
Kun vuokrausaika alkoi lähestyä havaihduin siihen etten ollut saanut varausvahvistusta sähköpostiini joten soitin Finn-Rentin asiakaspalveluun. Sieltä vakuutettiin että kaikki on kunnossa.
Varauksen alkamispäivänä ongelmia aiheutti Helsinki-Vantaan toimipisteen löytäminen. Heidän sivuillaan puhutaan paikasta nimeltä ”P33” Ilmailukuja 1:ssä. Sellaista paikkaa ei Helsinki-Vantaalla ole. Navigaattori ohjaa katuosoitteen perusteella ST1-huoltoasemalle.
Onneksi olin etuajassa ja hetken etsimisen jälkeen löysin oikeaan paikkaan, P3-parkkihallin ensimmäiseen kerrokseen.
Finn-Rentillä ei ole Helsinki-Vantaalla omaa tiskiä kuten monilla muilla vuokraamoilla. Sovittuna aikana firman edustaja ilmaantuu parkkihalliin. Paikalla pitää siis olla juuri silloin kuin varaus on sovittu alkamaan. Tämäkään ei käynyt etukäteen ilmi mistään.
Paikalla oli Suomea puhumaton ja englantia heikohkosti puhuva mies joka esitteli auton. Epäilys heräsi siinä kohtaa kun sain käteeni avaimet joiden avaimenperässä luki isolla ”95”. Auto osoittautui Opel Grandland -lataushybridiksi.
Yrityksen edustaja ei aluksi ymmärtänyt ongelmaa, vaan intti kyseessä olevan sähköauton. Kun sanoin haluavani täyssähköauton, edustaja tuhahti ja meni vähän sivummalle soittamaan puhelun. Kielimuurin kanssa oli ongelmia ja aluksi vaikutti että sähköauto löytyisi mutta pitää odottaa kaksi tuntia.
Hetken epätietoisuuden jälkeen ilmeni että näin ei ole, ja vaihtoehtoni olivat varauksen peruminen tai hyväksyä tarjottu Opel-katumaasturi, jonka sähköinen toimintamatka on 60 kilometriä ja jonka ajoakku oli kaiken lisäksi tyhjä.
Päädyin perumaan varauksen. Kuin ihmeen kaupalla sähköauto löytyi toiselta lentoasemalla toimivista vuokraamoista ja kesäloma pelastui.

Pysykää kaukana

Kokemusta Finnrentistä, joka perui muuttopakuvaraukseni kaksi päivää ennen kaupunkien välistä muuttoa. Syyksi ilmoittivat epämääräisesti kaarrellen, että tarjous ei sittenkään ollut heidän kannaltaan riittävän hyvä, joten löivät tylysti puukon selkään. Aivan kuin tässä ei olisi ollut tarpeeks shokkia, tarjosivat samaan hengenvetoon (arvatenkin samaa) pakua kaupungin sisäiseen ajeluun. Reklamoin tästä heille vaatien hyvitykseksi heidän tarjouksensa ja kilpailijansa kalliimman tarjouksen erotusta. Finnrentin liiketoimintajohtaja voivotteli, että tällaista joskus tapahtuu ja lässytti firmansa pettämälle asiakkaalle kuin kehitysvammaiselle, eikä suostunut hyvitysvaatimukseeni.

Paraikaa odotan vastausta KKV:lta ja harkitsen kunnianloukkaussyytteen nostamista. Pisteet toki heidän kilpailijalleen, Green Motionille, joka piti lupauksensa, vaikka heillä oli vielä vähemmän varoaikaa.

Annoin yhden tähden, koska se on järjestelmän vaatima minimi.
