My farrar and tanner chess set is beautiful! The craftsmanship is stunningly made and is very good quality. I had mine personalised with initials which feels extra special and worth the extra cost! This is a luxury item and worth every penny!

I ordered a gift set and unfortunately after double checking the description I realised it's the wrong item so I called to cancel and I was treated with absolute respect and no time wasting at all and the order was cancelled immediately. I was so impressed that I decided to search their offer and found something else and after buying it - the item was delivered today - much faster than estimated. I absolutely love this store. This is a review purely regarding customer service (item ordered and awaiting receipt before I can review that regarding quality etc.).

Had cause to use the Farrar & Tanner website today but had a few issues with the order I wanted to place and ended up dealing with a customer service staff member - Sue. Blown away by the phenomenal way my query was handled. Sue listened, was very knowledgeable about the products and the website and services offered and completely understood what I needed. Went the extra mile in assisting with gift options and delivery arrangements. Honestly, to deal with a person who wants the very best result for the customer and works so hard to achieve that is fabulous. So, huge shout out to Farrar & Tanner for recruiting such a fabulous employee and an even 'huger' shout out to Sue for the help given to this customer. Outstanding.

I ordered a black and gold Pelikan ballpoint pen as a gift to take abroad within the next few weeks.
The order arrived in good time, excellent communication and well packed within a few days.
Unfortunately upon opening the presentation box we found that the incorrect pen had been sent - a black and silver fountain pen!!
That's when the fun started......
I contacted customer services by phone who told me they would send me a label to return this but after not receiving I emailed.
I got a response instantly asking for my customer reference number (which was in the subject heading of my email) and asked for photos of the item along with the delivery note showing who had packed this.
I did note that the item number on the box was the correct pen which I'd ordered and just the contents differed.
I received an email back after a couple of days telling me to follow the link for a returns label but no link was in the email. I was also told that due to long delays I could not expect either a refund or replacement (if entitled) for four weeks and could not send back personalised items - my issue was clearly not read properly.
On the whole, from despatch to communication there is a clear lack of attention to detail which one does not expect from a merchant selling 'luxury brands'

Easy to order, quick delivery and am delighted with my beautiful wooden/magnetic knife rack.

I received what I ordered and quick delivery with a couple of caveats. One of the order confirmation emailed showed the total of £34.99 including delivery when the website showed £25.95 including delivery. Furthermore the item in the confirmation was a smaller size than I had ordered. Farrar did refund that but I would caution shoppers to check their order email as soon as it arrives. I also placed two orders one immediately after the other which came to over £100. F&T at the time were promoting free delivery delivery on orders over £100. I wrote to F&T asking if they could refund the delivery charges given that both orders were placed almost at the same time and totaled over £100. I was told as the orders had shipped a refund is not possible so ended up paying two delivery charges. I said I would return one of the orders for £85 if they could not refund at least one of the delivery charges. I received no further reply. I sent one of the orders back and ordered on Amazon (no delivery fee) and received a confirmation from the courier the items had arrived back to F&T. When after a few days I did not hear from F&T I emailed for an update but received no reply apart from an email saying 'we are always looking to improve'. 10 days after they received the items I got an email confirming the credit, but not the delivery fee.

After the first delivery arrived broken, they quickly put things right by sending a replacement decanter by express delivery which arrived in one piece!
