Customer service is abysmal. I will never fly Etihad again.
After years of flying exclusively with Etihad to Asia, this trip has ended that relationship for good.
Etihad sent three consecutive rebooking notifications with a physically impossible itinerary – the connecting flight departing before the inbound flight had even landed. The same error, three times in a row. Our outbound flight departed hours later than originally booked. A coercive 24-hour confirmation deadline was imposed on a Saturday night with every support channel non-functional. The only option was calling a UAE number – the resulting phone bill cost as much as a flight ticket.
On the return journey, the same pattern: flight rescheduled again, pre-paid seat upgrades silently removed without notice or refund. I spent two days attempting to reach customer support through every available channel without success – simply to confirm whether our flight was actually happening.
Formal complaint submitted early March 2026. After 6 weeks of chasing across every channel, the response was a rejection citing inapplicable regulation to avoid accountability.
Customer service is abysmal. I will never fly Etihad again.

Cancelled ticket and did not return money. When i called they opened refund request. And I need to wait 45 days for refund.

I travelled with Etihad for the first time this week. I was extremely impressed with their email communication; giving updates about flights, times and check-in details.
The aircraft was superb. I was able to select comfortable seats, the cushion & blanket was a great touch and the inflight entertainment & meals were great.
I needed to contact their helpline and received excellent & thorough support.
The entire staff team are wonderful, friendly and helpful.
I extend huge thanks for a great flying experience.

"Shame on Etihad Airways. Following the cancellation of our connection to Brussels, the airline simply abandoned us. They used the Middle East situation as a pretext, even though other carriers remained operational and they have a LEGAL OBLIGATION (Article 8 of Regulation EC No 261/2004) to reroute us immediately, even on a competitor.
It has been over 5 weeks now, and we have received ZERO written proposals, ZERO solutions, NOTHING. It is unacceptable for CEO Antonoaldo Neves to allow his departments (Case 13348529) to treat a disabled passenger (80%) and a grieving family with such contempt.
It is staggering that a company reporting a $1.4 billion net profit and sponsoring Formula 1 refuses to comply with the law for a simple rerouting ticket. Their silence is not an oversight; it is a deliberate choice of contempt. Travelers worldwide, be warned: my experience proves that in a crisis, Etihad abandons you. A legal case is underway
Honte à Etihad Airways. Suite à l’annulation de notre correspondance pour Bruxelles, la compagnie nous a purement et simplement abandonnés. Ils ont invoqué la situation au Moyen-Orient comme prétexte, alors que les autres transporteurs opéraient normalement et qu'ils ont l’OBLIGATION légale (Article 8 du règlement CE n° 261/2004) de nous réacheminer sans délai, y compris via un concurrent.
Cela fait maintenant plus de 5 semaines et nous n’avons reçu AUCUNE proposition écrite, AUCUNE solution, RIEN. Il est inadmissible que le PDG Antonoaldo Neves laisse ses services (Dossier 13348529) traiter un passager handicapé (80%) et une famille en deuil avec un tel mépris.
Il est révoltant qu’une compagnie affichant 1,4 milliard de dollars de bénéfice net et sponsorisant la Formule 1 refuse d'appliquer la loi pour un simple billet de réacheminement. Leur silence n'est pas un oubli, c'est un choix délibéré de mépris. Voyageurs du monde entier, soyez prévenus : mon expérience prouve qu'en cas de crise, Etihad vous abandonne. Un dossier juridique est en cours.
Une compagnie inclusive... à condition de ne pas en avoir besoin !
Franchement, si vous cherchez une compagnie aérienne qui maîtrise parfaitement l’art de l’exclusion et du mépris, ne cherchez plus, vous êtes au bon endroit. Une véritable référence… mais uniquement pour une certaine catégorie de voyageurs.
Voyager avec eux en situation de handicap ? Une expérience inoubliable — dans le pire sens du terme. L’assistance semble être une option abstraite, presque philosophique : on en parle beaucoup, mais sur le terrain, elle disparaît mystérieusement. Entre manque d’anticipation, absence de coordination et indifférence générale, on a presque l’impression que le confort et la dignité des passagers concernés sont des détails secondaires.
Quant à la gestion des bagages… là encore, une performance remarquable. Les suppléments sont appliqués avec une précision chirurgicale, comme si chaque kilo supplémentaire était une offense personnelle. Les tarifs donnent rapidement l’impression que cette compagnie ne transporte pas des passagers, mais sélectionne une clientèle triée sur le volet, capable de payer sans poser de questions.
Au fond, le message est très clair : si vous n’êtes pas parfaitement autonome, sans contraintes particulières, et avec un budget confortable, passez votre chemin. Cette compagnie ne s’adresse manifestement pas à toutes les couches sociales, mais uniquement à une élite prête à accepter des prestations médiocres à prix premium.
En résumé, une compagnie à fuir absolument — sauf si vous aimez payer cher pour être mal considéré.
Disgraceful service – Stranded for 26 hours on the floor!

They completely ignored their 'Duty of Care' and international aviation regulations. I was forced to sleep on the hard floor at Abu Dhabi airport like a stray animal. When I tried to contact them on social media, they simply BLOCKED me instead of helping. Absolute lack of respect for passengers. Avoid this airline if you expect any level of basic human decency!

Rückerstattung
Auch wir waren von der Flugstornierung am 3.3.26 betroffen. Informationen wurden keine gegeben. Letztendlich haben wir fur unseren Stornierten Rückflug, eine Rückerstattung beantragt.
Jedoch bis heute immer noch keine weiteren Informationen von Ethiad erhalten.ebenfalls keine Rückerstattung des Fluges.

Absolutely unacceptable experience with Etihad.
I originally booked a flight from Copenhagen to Chiang Mai with a stopover in Abu Dhabi. Without any acceptable solution, Etihad suddenly changed my final destination from Chiang Mai to Bangkok instead.
This is not a minor change. Bangkok and Chiang Mai are completely different destinations, and this unexpected change has disrupted my entire travel plan, forcing me to arrange and pay for additional transportation myself.
What makes it even worse is that no compensation, refund, or replacement ticket for the missing Bangkok–Chiang Mai leg was offered. Changing a customer’s booked final destination to a completely different city and then leaving them to deal with the consequences is incredibly poor service.
This has caused stress, wasted time, and extra expenses, and the lack of responsibility from Etihad is extremely disappointing. I expected far better from an international airline, but this experience has seriously damaged my trust in the company.

Yet they can find the staff to incessantly chase me for feedback after each flight - actual humans on the actual telephone and via email - staff who promised me callbacks about my queries that never came.
Please make it make sense, I can't!!
Abu Dhabi airport is a shopping mall full of designer goods outlets. Not really my thing - limited areas to just sit and chill out for a few hours on a transfer.
Sold me internet, £20 for 14 hours, that didn't work.
General service level, aircraft, food quality not a patch on Air France, the best in the world. And it pains me to say that as a Brit.
Great experience overall
Contrary to what I read in the comments here, I had a great experience with Ethiad. I did not need any customer service though. The cabin crew was really professional and the airplane modern and clean. I would fly again with them.
Einfache und zuverlässige Rückerstattung nach Flugzeitänderung
Etihad meldete eine Änderung der Flugzeiten. Dies führte leider dazu, dass der Flug für unsere Familie nicht mehr optimal war.
Etihad bot aber an, online und kostenlos andere Flugzeiten zu buchen oder, falls diese auch nicht passen würden, das Geld zurück zu erhalten. Wir haben uns für die Rückerstattung entschieden. Dies war online mit wenigen Klicks erledigt und bereits 15 min später war das Geld bereits wieder auf unserem Konto gutgeschrieben. Ohne Abzug von Taxen oder Bearbeitungsgebühren! Vorbildlich und sehr zuvorkommend, danke Etihad.

Une réclamation en attente depuis plus de 3 mois, le dossier est fermé, réouvert refermé, j'appelle en moyenne toutes les semaines. On me balade en me racontant n'importe quoi, en m'expliquant que c'est très exceptionnel.
Et j'espère que leurs mécaniciens et pilotes sont un peu plus efficaces....
Dans tous les cas, je suis un client fréquent et habituel de Emirates et Qatar Airways et croyez-moi cela n'a rien à voir....

Fabulously intriguing yet interesting experience flying ETIHAD the first time. Cabin crew deserves all the respect for being - normal decent human beings, very caring and attentive, professionally sophisticated individuals serving in dignified manner!!! Thank God, there was no trained mechanical robot as a crew member but genuinely smiling decent human beings serving passengers ....Hats Off to ETIHAD AIRWAYS!

Diese Fluggesellschaft kann man in punkto Gästebetreuung nur die schlechteste Note geben.7 Tage vor Rückflug erst umgebucht und 1 Tag später Storniert,ohne eventuell einen Ersatz zu besorgen. Wir waren auf uns allein gestellt,und mussten einen Flug für 4200€ für Holzklasse über China buchen. Erstattung von Etihad 626.14€ für Rückflug. Wir werden nie mehr mit einer arabischen Airline fliegen. Von Service bei Problemen keine Spur.
Mit Qantas bei Vulkanausbruch 2010 super betreutund sehr kulant.

Etihad a supprimé le vol de retour que je devais prendre depuis l'Inde, du à la situation dans le Golfe persique.
On comprend, mais Etihad n'a jamais répondu au téléphone, répondu à mes messages, rien. Ils disent qu'ils donnent une assistance en cas d'annulation de vol et rien. Juste des excuses pour éviter toute responsabilité.
Le premier jour de la guerre l'émir d'Abu Dhabi donnait toute sorte d'explications en disant qu'ils prendraient responsabilité et payeraient les hotels des passagers qui avaient été resté sans vol de retour, mais c'est juste du bla bla. Aucune responsabilité, aucun dédommagement, rien.
Vraiment, une compagnie de troisième catégorie.
Jamais je prendrai à nouveau Etihad.

Etihad cancelled our flight from Zurich to Abu Dhabi on the 25th March 2026 but will not engage to reimburse our tickets. Bad customer service. Avoid like the plague we will not use this airline again.
