Equifax is the worst credit bureau, they don't follow their business hours and its mostly Ai that answers calls. You get locked out of your account even after rigorous/ stringent verification and its such a huge waste of time repeating the whole process. Its almost 2026 and they never improve their customer service and system . Very very poor service!!!

I dont think they are worthy of one star, they are horrible. They do not fix anything. My self as well as others I know have had a time trying to make our credit better and everytime you get your score rising up to a good status a day or 2 later points were taking away when you are making all payments ontime and even before time is due.. They needs new system cause no one has an answer for issues presented to them..

This credit bureau is incompetent. When my credit utilization has dropped below 3% overall and the other bureaus have reflected the adjustment I noticed today they are still in the ice ages not making the adjustment and still sitting at 12%.Of course the fact that they are slow on the uptake affects the overall credit score which gives you an added bump up when you are below 10%.Below 30% is good but below 10% is better. I will say this. The most positive thing I can say is they don't do things deliberately...other than puppet TransUnion....who do deliberate acts to hurt people simply trying to lower patrons credit score... especially if they know you are tracking it. The game is to attempt to sell you credit cards or loans so they drive a kickback from them. Now we know this is attributed to them all however TransUnion keeps their thumb on the scale while Equifax only does so due to incompetence not deliberately. Their credit agency makes mistakes that are due to old archaic technically inefficient setup which seems to use developers who are fumbling around in the dark ages. I make this point because I am a developer who has issues with those who do not have pride in their jobs. I have another issue where Equifax had posted (and continues to) an older car loan as 60 days late on an occasion once again and untruth which I have all the proof showing it to be incorrect but taking an Act of God to get it corrected. It's posted by TransUnion to keep my score down but posted by Equifax simply copying TransUnion. They are like TransUnions little brother. While their online system seems to be broken and although the customer service people seem nice enough good luck getting them to correct anything. It seems they cant.I will continue to dispute innacuracies until I get the right set of eyes to look at it. Half of life is simply getting the right person on the phone or the right person to read a letter or email and take appropriate action. It's a crapshoot.
Complete rip-off
Complete rip-off. It's been 4 months and I cannot cancel my account because THEY recorded my birthday wrong. I can't cancel until I file a dispute to correct my birthday, which has been impossible, I have filed multiple disputes, called and been turned away with "there are no options other than to file a dispute". All the while, they keep charging me. No customer service and just a cash grab.

I was looking for a loan about £50000 and an agent introduced me to this company and offer me the loan not knowing it was a remortgage for 16 years and I was paying £560 a month until almost two years later I asked for my balance and it was 51000 after paying £560 for almost two years totally almost £14000 and l have to find money to pay almost all the balance

I have been dealing with ongoing problems with Equifax for several years. Despite providing official documentation — including police reports, an FTC identity theft affidavit, and proof of address — Equifax continues to report false and inconsistent information that does not appear on my TransUnion or Experian files.
My Equifax credit score changes dramatically without reason, sometimes dropping over 60 points overnight even when nothing on my report has changed. Most recently, my score fell from 602 to 534 the day after applying for a small loan. This has become a consistent pattern that has caused multiple credit denials and financial hardship for me and my family.
Equifax refuses to remove inaccurate information related to a Bridgecrest account, continues to list an address I never lived at, and responds with automated replies instead of real investigations. I have filed complaints with the CFPB and the Florida Attorney General’s Office and will continue pursuing action.
Consumers deserve transparency and fair treatment. Equifax must be held accountable for inaccurate reporting, automated disputes, and unfair handling of consumer data.

I would give it no stars if that was an option. I sat on hold for 86 minutes trying to get a “security” issue with my prepaid card resolved. I was one minute away for 15 minutes and then it seemed my call was picked up cause the recording stopped and after another 2 minutes I was disconnected. They suck ass big time. Don’t even bother with the call back option cause that just goes into the dark pit of hell with no return. I tried it 5 times.

Poor. Charged even when cancelled. Claiming I had downgraded not cancelled. Even though I had a confirmation email to say I'd cancelled. Avoid!
Literally the worst
I cannot explain in words how much I loathe dealing with this company. The technology and customer support are outrageously outdated and awful. Freezing my credit seemed like a good idea until I found out what an unbelievable pain it is to freeze/unfreeze for credit card applications, loans, etc. Never again. "Just do it on the website" - sure...doesn't work. Have to talk to a live person EVERY. SINGLE. TIME. Nope, I'm done, after too many hours of my life wasted.

Do not use them, awful service and no customer services. They do not send reminders of when free trials are due to end and very quicky ensure that they take the money from you. Even when cancelled the next day, they will not refund you and have no consideration to your needs
The absolute worst
The absolute worst, went online to get a copy of my credit report, can't download it. Then I call them, they ask for a ridiculous amount of private information, then send you a passcode to verify. After all of that, they only provide reports via snail mail. After all of that, I requested to file a complaint, they sat on the line and would not respond to anything I said.

I was a victim of fraud in 2021, a year I did not reside or visit Australia. I have not lived in Australia for 17 years. The information the criminal provided is false and incorrect. For 4 years I have been trying to get Equifax to change and correct the information and they refuse. The basically state, it was the information Telstra provided and simply, that is all that matters. A highly incompetent and unprofessional organisation.

So many bad reviews and they deserve it.. complete trash for customer service, every call is answered by some punjabi who barely understands English. Hours and hours i have spent listening to their hold-line music, ding ding ding for hours! Just for them to get it wrong, transfer me, still get it wrong! This company is controlling Americans credit scores! They literally can block you from getting loans. How is some hut in India put in charge of American citizens loan applications.. Americans need to put a stop to this and demand our government remove Equifax from scoring matrix.

28 minutes of listening to the customer service rep in a foreign country ramble on and on and ON MAKING EXCUSES for their processes and why they dropped my disputes with no notification. He loved listening to himself. For the love of God, if we're going to be unConstitutionally railroaded into this system, then at least bring customer service back to the United States and protect our data!!!!! He was nauseating to listen to. It was nothing but illogic. In my opinion, they are intentionally trying to harm US citizens because they want revenge.

Equifax blatantly disregarding my rights
Equifax is blatantly disregarding my consumer rights under the FCRA, and I have proof. I’ve disputed a fraudulent Verizon account over 50 times, and each time Equifax “verifies” it solely based on what the furnisher claims even though Verizon no longer owns the account, and the debt was sold to a collection agency that is not licensed to collect in Illinois.
Despite providing Equifax with:
• A forged contract signature,
• Evidence that my FOID card and ID were reported lost in October 2023,
• And that the account was fraudulently opened in December 2023 using stolen credentials,
They have refused to remove or properly investigate this account.
In a recorded call, a supervisor named Soya admitted that Equifax does not send reinsertion notices, even though the law requires them to do so within 5 business days. I also spoke with a representative (ID: RXD233) who refused to provide a method of verification, which is another clear violation of my FCRA rights.
I’ve now filed over 30 complaints with the CFPB, and also submitted reports to:
• The Senate and House of Representatives,
• The Illinois Attorney General,
• The Better Business Bureau,
• And I’ve begun filing a legal claim in court.
Equifax is not only violating my rights, but also continuing the same patterns that the CFPB is actively suing them for failing to investigate disputes, not issuing reinsertion notices, and relying blindly on furnishers without doing their own due diligence.
As a consumer affected by their massive data breach, I trusted Equifax to protect my information and report accurately. They have failed me completely.
Equifax must be held accountable.
