I recently had the unfortunate experience of dealing with Elephant Insurance and their representative, Mike. It was an absolute nightmare from start to finish, and I am compelled to share my story to prevent others from falling into the same trap.

From the moment I signed up for car insurance with Elephant, the problems began. Mike, the so-called "professional" I was assigned to, displayed a shocking level of incompetence and disrespect. Just a day after I took out the policy, Mike had the audacity to insinuate that I had committed a crime I had absolutely no involvement in. This baseless accusation not only shocked me but also left me deeply disturbed. I felt like my integrity was being attacked for no reason whatsoever.

But the ordeal didn't stop there. Mike continued his unprofessional behavior by threatening to cancel my insurance without any valid justification. It was as if he was holding my policy hostage, using it as a tool to manipulate and intimidate me. This kind of behavior is not only unacceptable but also downright unethical.

Throughout the entire process, I tried to communicate my concerns with Elephant Insurance's customer service, hoping to get some clarity and resolution. However, I was met with nothing but indifference and callousness. It seemed as though they were perfectly content with Mike's conduct, as if this was just another day at the office for them.

Dealing with Elephant Insurance and Mike has left me deeply frustrated and stressed. The fact that a company can employ such unprofessional and disrespectful individuals is a testament to their lack of commitment to their customers. It is clear that their priority lies solely in making a profit, even if it means subjecting innocent customers to harassment and humiliation.

I strongly advise anyone considering Elephant Insurance to think twice before getting involved with this company. Their lack of professionalism, disregard for their customers' well-being, and willingness to baselessly accuse and threaten should serve as a red flag for anyone seeking reliable and respectful service. My experience with Elephant Insurance and Mike has been a complete disaster, and I wouldn't wish this kind of treatment on my worst enemy. Steer clear of this company if you value your sanity and dignity.

Best insurance I have come across. I’m with them for 10 years. I always shopped around and not one provider could beat their deal. Yes, insurance has gone up a little, but so has everything else, costs of living, car prices and stollen cars… it’s not the insurance fault if life events impact the premiums.

Between me and my wife we had 3 accidents in 2 years and 2 were non fault, our renewal price went from £1500 a year to £3777 a year. They have not closed old existing claims creating excessive quotes with other insurers.

I’ve had three claims that weren’t my fault, and the customer service I received was excellent every time. I just got cover for the 8th year running, I called up and elephant matched a cheaper quote I’d found from one of their sister companies. The account website is easy to use. Why change when they provide such a great service?

After submitting a compliant via their website, both the online customer agent and the person who reviewed my complaint has demonstrated that they really care about their customers. Thank you so much for everything you guys really rock!

50% in crease on this year renewal vs last year. Seems to be a common issue. Lack of transparency and no explanation given despite calling their support lines. In fact the operator i spoke to used the call to in fact increase the quote further citing my job title as manager meant i was more high risk - despite the fact I don’t use the card for work or commute by car. Unhelpful and untrustworthy. I will swap and find much cheaper quotes using comparison site…can’t help but think i will have to do the same next year though as this seems the scam of the ages in car insurance.

Absolutely woeful and non-existent customer service. Rang up to ask about a very important detail of my insurance not listed in any of the documentation or FAQs and the automated phone menu simply disconnects you automatically and doesn’t offer a callback service. This is not be allowed by the regulator and is disgraceful.

Multi car renewal quote doubled from last year at £600 to £1200 this year. No personal circumstances have changed. When I challenged this over the phone I was told this is just the cost of living increase. How is this justified?

They priced up my policy monthly from £101 to £183 and cancelled it because of priced up however they refunded my money for 5 days remaining balance of policy.
They now required £183 for last payment after cancelled it.
They are worst insurance company you can work with.

The reason I got told was based on my profession I am more of a risk driving.

I work from home as an infrastructure specialist and line manager.
Then I got told it was the cost of living.
Then they knocked £40 off as I am a loyal customer.
Needless to say not only did they lose my care insurance but my wife's too.
Made sure that our new insurance are not part of the admiral group too.

I drive a vauxhall corsa 2015 which I bought new in 2015
The wife drive a hyundai i10 2015.

My brothers BMW is cheaper to insure than an i10 apparently.

Renewal price was almost double that of the year before despite no claims or changes to my policy. I would not recommend Elephant.

We were hit by an Uninsured driver in January 2023. It was a simple case and had supporting dashcam footage.

- I submitted our claim on the 17th January.
- We were told to await contact from NARG group via email (even though I had signaled the car would be a write-off on the online claim form). We never heard from NARG so we called them as per the guidance after 48 hours. The company told us that they had declined the repair and already sent it back to the insurance company.
- We called Elephant who were unaware of the rejection from NARG. We explained over the phone we believed the car would be a write-off. Initially the call operator tried to get us to another repair centre but then after repeating we believed the vehicle was a write-off, they asked to send photos of the damage which we did and after six days, they agreed to write off the vehicle.
- We then played a bit of phone chess to get a better deal and they paid us out for the vehicle.
- I was told someone would contact me to discuss claiming the excess back, however, they did not back up this promise or respond to my emails. I eventually called Elephant and they told me as the driver was uninsured we would have to go through Admiral Law to claim the excess back (see my other reviews for that saga).

I am unsure why Elephant does not talk to Admiral Law on your behalf. It's as if Elephant had sorted their side and decided the rest wasn't important. I do not understand why if my driver was found not at fault, we aren't given our £310 excess and then the insurer makes a claim to MIB on our behalf for the funds. It's just a convoluted system that causes unnecessary stress.

I don't think we will renew with Elephant again.

Absolute pain in the bum to cancel. Cancelation fees are sharp. Annoying.

Terrible insurance company and dreadful customer service !

I just left this bad insurance company after 4 years with them ! The customer treatment really bad and their staff needs more training to how keep their customers satisfied! My advise to be away from this untrusted company.

I changed from Elephant to Aviva recently and got far better insurance for half the price. Also when I tried to claim for someone rear ending my car Elephant wouldn't process the claim. This is a poor company, get your insurance elsewhere.

Ibti was super helpful! Managed to help me match a quote I received from another comparison site and was so smooth with getting it sorted! Highly recommend. Great customer service.

Impossible to cancel auto renewal. I was given a price much higher at renewal so I went to cancel it, however it is literally impossible to do so via their rubbish system.

If you manage to find the button to cancel it, the system loops you back into the quote system and then away from the entire page. The chat bot system is utterly useless. They have lost me forever. Good job elephant!

9 years as a customer. Today I have left as they increased my renewal quote 80%+ with no reason. I asked them to explain why x2 and I was ignored. A new quote was offered but it was no where close to other quotes I have received. I requested for them to answer my complaint and explain and the online chat went dead. Closed down? Very disappointed, I guess I have dodged a bullet looking at the below reviews.
