We’d like to clarify a few important points. The validity of the International Driving Permit is issued in accordance with the applicable UN Convention format (1949 or 1968), which may result in different validity periods depending on the selection and documentation provided at the time of application. Since you only paid for 5 years, we processed the IDP for 5 years.

Regarding the additional shipping charge — for certain remote or non-metro locations, courier partners like DHL may apply extra surcharges. Unfortunately, these charges are not always visible at the time of initial payment and are only confirmed once the shipment is processed and reaches the courier partner’s system. We communicate this transparently when it arises and only pass on the exact amount charged to us.

We understand how this may have felt unexpected, and we’re continuously working to make this communication clearer upfront to avoid any confusion in the future. Thank you!

There can occasionally be delays during high-volume periods or outside standard operating hours, but that should have been clearly communicated, and we regret that it wasn’t in your case. We also acknowledge that the document was shared after you had already cancelled your order, which added to the inconvenience.

As an update, your refund has already been processed from our end.

Our website also explains that the document we provide is a multi-language translation booklet and digital permit intended to help travelers present their driving information in different languages when traveling abroad. At no point do we represent ourselves as a government body or claim to replace permits issued by official authorities in a customer’s home country.

Regarding the points you mentioned:

India has not signed the 1968 Vienna Convention on Road Traffic, which is one of the key agreements that governs the issuance and recognition of International Driving Permits (IDPs) in many countries. However, India is a signatory to the 1949 Geneva Convention on Road Traffic, which also allows for the issuance of IDPs.

1949 IDPs: India's IDPs are issued under the provisions of the 1949 Geneva Convention. These are recognized in countries that are party to the 1949 agreement but may not be valid in countries that exclusively follow the 1968 Vienna Convention.

1968 IDPs: Many countries that adhere strictly to the 1968 Vienna Convention may not accept IDPs issued under the 1949 agreement. Travelers from India might face challenges in these countries unless they obtain a local driving license or alternative documentation.

We are sorry for the experience you had, however, please note that we want to make sure that we are issuing documents that hold validity according to UN conventions.
