I went to India on holiday and had considered finding out about dental treatment in India before I left. Treatment in the UK is expensive and it can be hard to get an appointment. I don’t like visiting the dentist much because I’m sure that as a child my teeth were filled unnecessarily.

I’ve been suffering from sensitive teeth and had a chip off one tooth. I thought I’d needed a crown and decided to get a quote. Dr Sampreeth was recommended by a friend’s niece who works in the industry. I got an appointment within 2 days.

I thought he would have a look and give me a quote. We had a discussion about my sensitive tooth and he asked why I thought I needed a crown. I said I thought the tooth must be cracked. He explained that teeth can come unstuck from fillings and it could be simply that my 40 or 50 year amalgam filling had just broken down and a replacement would solve the problem. He carefully drilled out the old filling, using the minimum of aesthetic, so as not to damage the nerve unnecessarily. He also fixed the chipped tooth on the other side. I was told that I could always come back if this didn’t do the trick.

My appointment lasted almost 2 hours and work was done there and then. I don’t know if this is normal, or I was just very lucky. The surgery was extremely clean, they had the latest equipment and all the staff were kind and highly professional.

Dr Sampreeth explained what he was doing when I asked, although a lot of the time I couldn’t understand conversations between colleagues while they were working. I’d recommend asking in advance for a running commentary, as it is hard to speak with equipment in your mouth.

I’d also been thinking about replacing a missing tooth but wasn’t ready to decide on an implant at the time.

By the time I’d arrived back at my lodgings the anaesthetic had worn off and I found myself free of discomfort. I decided to go ahead and have the implant.

Again everything was handled very professionally. Once I’d had an MRI of my mouth done I was able to return to have an implant fitted by a specialist who visited the surgery to perform the procedure.

I couldn’t recommend Dr Sampreeth and his surgery more highly. I have never experienced care like it! I plan to return at some point to have my implant capped.

Although cost was my original motivation, it’s the care and professionalism that would make me go back.
