We have now bought several items through your York and Scarborough auction houses. We've found staff to be very helpful and knowledgeable when either viewing or collecting items. The process for bidding via the phone is straightforward and easy to follow. Helpful staff have been available when collecting items so all in all very pleasant experiences. Oh, and we've been delighted with the items we've won.

DD have been very straightforward to deal with. Transfer from Scarborough to York for collection was a useful facility enabling collection by a family member. As a private buyer I find much of interest when viewing sales online.

Friendly and attentive people who are more than willing to help loading cars with inappropriately big things!

I want a job lot of watches some turned out to be fake and the others didn't work There was no description on this the website as solder spares are repairs are a scene they have agreed to me sending them back and now they're saying they will get the auction valuation of the lot so it seems like I will not be getting back what I paid for them I will be getting a lot less their postage is a rip off 30 odd quid for something that cost £10 to send they are common and scam artists

I want a watch with some cufflinks and another watch in it The listing didn't state sold as seen when I received the watchers they was not working I emailed them and they advised me they were sold as soon also one of the watches which was fake they have since agreed if I post the items back they will refund me I will not be using them again

A superb auction house that does what it says, cares about its clients, first class service, packaging was excellent, easy to work and communicate with, like a Swiss Watch

OPlease do not rely solely on Duggleby for a valuation. An item of mine was valued at £150 to £200 and we sold for £1800. Another item they disputed the authenticity of and said it was worth £80 but we had an offer before we went for £7000. I imagine even with the full cast of the antiques roadshow in tow they would struggle to value most items accurately. Please get 2nd opinions or risk losing a lot of money.

Added after reply: I have attempted to e-mail and call several times. The email bounces and the call doesn't get answered.

We purchased 10 bottles of champagne from Duggleby's Scarborough using the online platform. There was no mention of the age or condition issues.
We paid and collected. We opened one bottle which was corked and smelt of vinegar. Others followed with the same result. We contacted the auction house who initially were not interested. They then offered a partial refund of the commission. I requested a fee which meant that we all contributed, but I would still be paying the larger amount. Duggleby's turned it down. They would cut a penny in half and keep both sides.
{I paid £225 and Duggleby's offered £50.}
There should have been more information requested from the seller.

We have bought from different auction houses over the last few years and have experienced the good, the bad and the ugly. David Duggleby is undoubtedly the best in our experience: reasonable valuations, low fees and very quick dispatch of purchases. Can't recommend them highly enough!

Communication and manner are major issues. They fail to communicate and are abrupt and rude when they do. On top of that the over value items and do not achieve estimate results and gouge buyers with shipping fees that are heavily marked up. Why deal with them when there are others and the bar for improvement is set so low.

Items sent to sale did not make anywhere near the valuation they had given me and also they did not contact me to ask if I wanted a reserve on the items (which I did) so with the cost of transporting to the sale room deducted as well I was very disappointed with the result and not impressed

This Removal Company is first class and I highly recommend them. The team members who executed our move on the 3rd and 4th of February were amazing. Firstly we had Craig and Cam (Cameron) who carried out the packing service on Fri 31st January. These guys were extremely polite, helpful, friendly and worked tirelessly and efficiently on the job.
Monday 3rd was loading up day with George, Duggie and Craig in attendance. Once again they worked as a team seamlessly loading the truck paying special attention to detail. My husband and I were so impressed by the superb work ethic that ensued throughout their task. At the same time all three guys George, Duggie and Craig complemented each other as they worked speedily, tidily and helpfully. Nothing was too much trouble for these supermen and they remained friendly, good natured and courteous whilst they performed the job. I was actually sad to see them depart as they had skilfully taken away the stress from what was a very stressful event.
George, Duggie and Craig deserve a pay rise at the very least as they enhance the reputation of this firm. Stay well boys and take care!

Asked for a valuer to visit our home where we had a large collection of porcelain miniatures. Was asked to send photos which could not be sent due to size of file. I then took pictures to them on my I pad and was advised that a valuer would contact me to arrange a visit. No one contacted me so I contacted the lady who told us she would be our liaison .sent her 2 e mails but didn’t even get the courtesy of a reply.
This is appalling service. If you don’t want to do the valuation you could at least give the courtesy of advising us.
We will not be using this auctioneers and would recommend others to consider alternatives

From the first phone call to clearing the property, it has been a pleasure to deal with Duggleby Estates. Tight timelines, Christmas period, horrific sheds to clear...

All of which was absolutely no problem. Courteous, clear, reactive.....nothing was too much trouble.

Extremely efficient and courteous. We have nothing but praise for the way our move was handled. Loaded, delivered, unloaded and finished in 7 hours - with an hours distance between properties. Very impressed and would certainly recommend.
