I placed an order with Chadwick's on 8 March 2019 and received an email telling me that the order shipped that same date. As of this date, I have not yet received the item. Customer Service--and I use that term very loosely--tells me they cannot issue a refund without a claim number from the shipper. The shipper tells me I cannot file a claim because Chadwick's did not insure the package. (Exactly what Chadwick's did with the $12.99 charge for shipping and handling is unclear.)

Is it possible to award negative stars? My wife found some Tretorn shoes that she really wanted. I ordered them. I could not use the 15% promo code that THEY have on their website for signing up for their emails... then I start getting a lot of emails from them. (Ok, I signed up for it....) But, I got nothing after the initial confirmation of my Order (and an email confirming my purchase from Paypal.) After a couple of weeks, I tried to check on the Order online....it says I have to call. I tried to call and got nothing the first couple of tries (once was closed, the next on eternal hold). Then finally I get through (after a long hold) and am told that they cancelled the Order and sent an email.

I checked my emails and they did not send anything cancelling the order.

Horrible experience. Stay away from this company. Not worth the hassle.

I am closing my account. I recently ordered 2 tops and returned them because of the fit and style was not flattering on me. I paid $10 to ship it back so I wouldn’t be charged by Chadwick’s.

Now I received a bill for shipping and when I called, the customer service rep said they couldn’t be responsible for the cost of shipping my purchase to me. Really?? Can understand being charged the cost of return but the original shipping charge?

I can’t justify $23 just for making a purchase that I didn’t even keep. I think that is more than the cost of one of the tops.

Bad customer service and policy.

Thank you all, for these reviews. I was thinking of ordering a top but have decided not to risk it. At least they have an American retail store, unlike most the these scam onlines out of China. But if they can't even do better than those,
they should not be in business.

I have been a faithful Chadwicks customer for over 20 years. They were one of the few sites I could buy pants in tall. But the last few years their sizing charts have become wonky and as a size 10 I can't even wear a 14 in some of their pants. Plus their prices have skyrocketed. Yes, shipping is pricey and you also pay for returns so if I get a poorly made product I generally end up donating it. I have paid off my Chadwicks bill and made a choice to end a 20 year relationship with them.

I ordered two (2) wool straight leg pants size 10. I received that order, however both were too small. They navy, and tobacco I returned them for a size 12. However I have yet to receive these items. I can no longer refer any shoppers to your business. I am also returning five (5) pairs of shoes, too wide. What seems to be the problem

Not sure I can recommend this company to anyone. As a tall thin woman I have limited options for clothing, and Chadwick’s has several options in tall.
Here is my honest review:
1. Don’t be in a hurry. Don’t believe that your order will ship in 24 hours like they say. I have placed two orders in two years. Both required follow-up after the website offered no status update 10 days after order date. The first time I was told that my order was being processed that day and another 10 days went by and nothing...so I emailed and complained and was told that the order must have gotten lost and they have no way to know it didn’t get delivered. They later told me it was damaged in shipment. THIS year I placed an order and 10 days, no word...so wrote an email to customer service and asked for status update. That day I received a shipment notice. Now - 11 days later no order on my door. Just be forewarned and don’t expect to have your order in a timely manner.
2. The products once arrived are generally good - some are cheaply made and some are decent and decent price.
3. They have sister companies but you cannot combine orders or shipping costs within those companies.
4. Returns as well as shipping are at your expense and not a bargain.
5. Customer service is generic and basically impersonal and non-existent. After I contacted them for the second time on this years order not yet received I sent an email indicating my displeasure and asked to be contacted by an executive level team member re: their shipping policies and shady advertising. No such contactbwas made and instead I received a generic one line email the next day that said - I apologize for the late shipment and have refunded your shipping costs. No one at that company cares abt the customer.
I gave it two stars because the clothing is okay - not great and often not tall enuf...and the lack of customer service.

I used to buy from Chadwicks years ago and in the beginning (for several years) they were great. I loved the clothing and they would make anything right immediately. Then they started sending me the wrong item literally every time. A couple times they tried to talk me into keeping the item at a discount, one time they just gave me credit because apparently it cost them more to have it returned than it was worth. Anyway I stopped buying them from for several years. About 2 months ago i purchased a dress and a pair of boots. Low and behold the it was the wrong item (not even close to what I ordered) and the boots were so cheap that when I wore them for about a half hour my legs above my ankles were really chaffed because the top of the boots were so stiff. I immediately shipped everything back. It took them approximately two months to receive and credit my account. Needless to say I will not be purchasing anything from them ever again.

I just bought a top and blouse, which arrived with perfect timing. The quality was very good and the price was great! The service was excellent. I will shop there again.

I placed my order almost two weeks prior to my vacation. After one week, my account had not been debited for the charge and I called customer service to check the status of my order. I was told that one of the items was on back order and it was holding up the delivery of the other 13 items. I explained that I wanted everthing prior to my vacation. The company said they would request a rush on the order and ended up FedExing the back ordered item! I called again to find out about the remaining items and was told the items were being picked for shipment. I asked if the items would be delivered before my vacation departure date and they said more than likely; shipping was only a few hours [flying time] between Connecticut and Ohio but to check back on Monday (which was the day before my trip). I called customer service back on Monday, still noticing my account had not been debited, and was asked to call back in another hour. I did and ended up waiting 40 plus minutes to hear I was caller number one--only for the call to drop. This happened twice. I spoke to 3 to 4 different representatives and each said my items were being picked (12 days later my items were still being picked for shipment?) I finally told the last representative to cancel my order; I spent half my morning while at work trying to see if there was time to get my order and I got a huge run around. I will never buy from Chadwicks again.

I have to chime in, seeing all of the bad reviews. I've been a customer of Chadwicks of Boston (and MetroStyle and Spiegel, their affiliate and parent company) for 20 plus years. Sure, some of the clothing is made cheaply, and you have to read the fine print and really examine the catalogue pictures to figure that out. But, all in all, their prices beat anyone else's, and their customer service always delivers. I've received stained clothes, incorrect items, etc., but they are always quick to fix it and either not charge me or charge/credit me appropriately. I highly recommend this company. Their wide-leg pants and $79 leather jackets are beautiful and impossible to find elsewhere. I still order regularly.

I will never order clothes from this place again. I order a few items from this company. I returned a few of the items in order to exchange for the right size or get another item. What I got in return is one item back, some of my money back on my credit card, and a bad check in the mail. I could even get all my money back! What kind of company send a no good check !!!! I tried calling them three times to discuss my complaint, they gave me the run around and the last time claim that customer service was closed. I hate ordering from online and this company confirmed it for me.

I purchased a swimsuit from Chadwicks. Didn't like it and returned it within a week. This was last May (2011) Its now January 2012 and despite phone calls and emails, I have yet to receive a refund. I called my credit card company and was told they are known for this. Why are they still in business? DO NOT ORDER FROM THIS COMPANY! I would give less than one star if I could

If you order from them, you'd better be sure you know what you're getting because the return policy is awful so you're just plain out of luck if you get something and find it has an odd fit like I did. (Almost to the point of defective but that didn't matter to them). I'm used to Lands End who has the most liberal return policy I've ever seen. Their policy is simply "Guaranteed, Period". Going from Lands End to this lousy service is a huge mistake!!

Chadwicks was purchased in the past couple of years and whoever owns it now doesn't give the slightest care about the customers. I ordered a knit car coat that was supposedly the identical garment and size of one I previously bought from them that fit perfectly--the new one was gi-normous, sleeves 2" longer and width at hem 6" wider. When I called, I found out that they no longer give out garment dimensions, and that they were getting the car coats from a new (cheaper) manufacturer. Not surprised about the last, because the fabric was cheesier. And somehow the fact that their sizes have changed without notice, or their garments are mis-sized, was my problem--they told me I could make an exchange but would have to pay the postage. This is the latest in a series of "your tough luck" conversations I've had with Chadwicks in the last year or so. I am now done with them.

they have a very tricky return policy, in which the buyer pays twice. Buyers also pays  any fee. even returning the goods to the buyer to pay for the return. do not have affairs with them, they are very dishonest.

Horrible customer service, self-serving policies, and liars for customer service reps means I will never do business with Chadwicks again. To echo everyone else here....I AM DONE!

DO NOT buy from Chadwicks! Their return policy is a joke! I ordered a coat for my wife, and had to return it because they sent the wrong size. They charged me shipping and handling both ways. It wound up costing me $25 for THEIR mistake. When you finally get someone on the phone, they are arrogant and abrasive!

We will NEVER order from this sham of a business again!!!!

I ordered a suit from Chadwicks in October of 2011. I got the e-mail confirmation and waited. The pants to the suit were shipped and delivered in about 6 days, my credit card was charged and long story but after going back and forth with them I finally received the jacket last week. Six months to send an order?? I guess they use Pony Express not Federal! Conversely, I ordered from Dress Barn recently and received that order the same day as Chadwicks. My Dress Barn order came in a box, not shoved in a bag, items pressed and on hangers. It arrived 5 days after my order processed. Guess I know where I'm shopping from now on! After being a customer with Chadwicks for 20 years, I'm DONE!!

I bought my wife a new coat for Xmas. Ordered it to arrive in time for Christmas...it did not. So I called, asking about the coat. They said they could cancel the previous order and ship another one overnight, to arrive on the 24th. It arrived on the 28th. The excuse from a sales rep? "Well, it IS Christmas!" I was told they would only charge me for the regular shipping fee...they did not. My wife opens the gift (now, late) and it's the wrong size (!) even though the order and the invoice has the size correct. I sent it back to be exchanged. Three weeks later...still no coat. I will NEVER shop here again!!
