Poor Quality & Customer Service
My experience with CCL Label Ireland has been extremely frustrating. When I first contacted them in 2017 I was told that I would be able to use a label dimension already on their system. This would mean that the cost of the labels would be cheaper as I would not need to pay for a die cutter.
However when I went to place an order I was told that I would not be able to do this. The bill for 4500 paper labels + die cutter therefore came to £1331.67
I ordered these 4500 paper labels last December. When these were put into our production run the labels split and creased and weren't able to be applied onto our bottles. Because it was our first time ordering from CCL Ireland we had to pay the £1331.67 upfront. Therefore, having already paid, CCL refused to take responsibility. CCL Ireland only looked into the issue after I had emailed its HQ about the issue.
I was reluctant to use them for the replacement labels but we needed replacement labels quickly. Bizarrely - contrary to their former stance - we were now able to use a label dimension already on their system. I thought these would be free as we had already spent £1500 on un-useable labels.
The second batch did not split but we still had some bubbling and creasing issues. CCL billed us £588 for these additional labels despite the fact that we'd already paid £1331.67 for the unusable labels.
We were issued legal notice for payment of the additional £588 + admin fees & interest without any warning. To avoid legal entanglement, we reluctantly paid this.
I have now found a much better supplier in Mercian Labels. They are a small business but have a very fast turn around time. They are also about 1/4 of the price of CCL. We have just purchased 4500 labels in Polypropylene for £350. CCL quoted us £2000+ for the same.
