Fantastic experience from the team. No pressure sale, a week since purchase and very happy with the new car

Might be ok if you have zero issues. Absolutely terrible if you do, I'd give 0 stars if I could. My Aunt purchased a car from them in Feb 2024. She bought the car unseen and as such was protected under distance selling rules. This meant she could return the car without needing a reason. The delivery driver harassed her into signing for the car before she was properly able to assess it, and despite assurances that it would have a new MOT, it was delivered without a new MOT, with it having less than 6 months to go (they are RAC approved, which guarantee's a minimum of 6 months). She called the Car City Luton and was coerced into accepting the car, with promises they would still sort the MOT. On inspection, the car was covered in scratches that had not been highlighted on the video walk round and were bad enough that combined with the lack of an MOT meant she decided to return the car.

Cue MONTHS of difficulty in getting them to acknowledge the laws on distance selling and eventual discussions of legal action and they eventually agreed to take the car back, with a discount for the collection costs (god forbid they have any inconvenience or expense!), which was a joke as delivery was included in the price and therefore not legally deductible. But at this point we were just ready to be done with them. The car was finally returned in May 2024.

We thought that was the end of the horrendous service, but alas! 9 months later, in Feb 2025, we have yet more hassle, as the well established dealers failed to complete the incredibly basic task of registering the new owner. Cue PCN's being received and alerting my Aunt, causing yet more stress and disruption. One call to their office and I was assured they would resolve this. I was foolish enough to trust them at their word, very much my mistake. May 2025 and yet another PCN and confirmation the car is STILL in my Aunts name. So, again I call them and reiterate they need to resolve this and once again I am given false promises of them actually taking responsibility. I was told to WhatsApp them, which I have done several days ago and they can't even be bothered to reply.

Congratulations if you've made it to the end of this saga! In conclusion, if you want a guaranteed hassle free experience, even if things don't quite go to plan then AVOID this company at all costs.

Brought a car through this dealership, about 10 days after it arrived we found out the car was CAT S, and had quite alot of faults on it (faults that should have never passed an MOT!!!!) I rejected the car so when it went back to the dealer. What did I find it back up for sale on the website but also the AA approved website!! Still nothing on the advert about it being a CAT S and also mileage on the advert is wrong!!!

They are scams. I had lights poping up I took domestic test pop saying so many issues with car. Also I got told it's car accident because headlight was chnage not fixed in probably inside car part has been changed and the bonnet has been re print as well. I try call boss and he speak he is bangladesh he back after 2 months that is fall lie.
Soon I said car has been accident he just cut the phone on me didn't want speak or answer speak to me .

Avoid this dealer at all costs, we brought a car GJ69TGY from this dealer in August 2024 and we had a month with this car before the problems started, it was taken to vauxhall for a diagnostic and were told this car needed a new engine, Car City luton told us that Vauxhall were liars and it wasn’t that issue. They ignored us for weeks and then finally told us they would collect the car to repair, after almost a month of waiting they finally collected the car. They kept giving us dates that the car would be ready by and then on that day told us it wouldn’t, the car was in their garage for 3 weeks at this point. We finally managed to get a hold of the garage who actually had our car and he told us he had only had the car for a week and the other 2 it had just been sat there. We got our car back on Christmas eve and boxing day it broke down again, we had someone come and look at the car and told us the engine had not been fixed. The dealership finally came to get the car and were told we would get our money back. This was almost a month ago and we still have not had any money back, they completely ignore ours and the finance company’s calls and if we do manage to get through they hang up. They also have tried selling our car before paying us the money and paying off the finance (it’s currently listed for sale on their website) and i am sure that no problems on that vehicle have been fixed. They are scamming people and i would AVOID THIS DEALER.

Only great things to say about the dealership. My car buying experience at Car city was one of the best and I am very pleased. I found my car online last month on the website and booked an appointment to test drive. I was definitely pleased with it so I left a deposit before I could collect it. The car was Mot’d and serviced before collection as promised. I would like to thank the team for making this experience quick and easy. We really are enjoying the car and look to coming back in the future :)

Purchased a Mazda CX-5 VU15 OHY on 11th September 2024. Not even 2 weeks later, the engine light came on and after a mechanic plugged it into the computer it came up with a turbine issue. The car also had faulty speakers which would rattle (there was a bag with speakers left in the boot when I got the car, to which they said it was bought by them like that) and one of the mirrors didn’t open back up once it was closed from the inside. They offered to repair the car under their “comprehensive warranty” which please be mindful, has a £500 excess. After questioning how a turbine can be replaced with £500, they said they’ll happily pay the difference in repairs. I did some research and decided I wanted to reject the car as I have 30 days as it was financed.

At this point, they began ignoring my emails to confirm a date to return it, then explaining the lack of response by how busy they were and couldn’t reply to me emails right away. I left them 1* reviews about the issue with hope to speed up the process, in return they blocked off their social media pages, unable to warn others. They tried to make me delete the “fake reviews” before they’ll help me further, to which I gave in, despite knowing they’re not fake as all I posted that I’m being ignored which is confirmed below. I finally gave the car back after stressing out about the whole situation and was told the refund should be processed within a few days. When I called later during the week for an update, I was told it can take up to a month, and that there is still 1 bad review left on Autotrader and if I could delete it whilst the salesman speaks to management about my refund and gets back to me. I once again gave in, in hope they’ll issue the refund and I’ll be able to get another car, as I have a 3 month old baby and unable to get anywhere. I called and emailed Autotrader asking them to delete my review and sent a screenshot to Car city, they responded the refund should take a couple of days. I was thankful and relieved it’s all over and actually thought they may be genuine in the end and that my experience was just a coincidence…

I was wrong! A week later, I receive an email from my finance company that the dealership reported a damaged seat in the vehicle. There was a small tear in the front drivers seat, when I collected the car. I never reported it as it would’ve been classed as wear and tear and have no impact on the rejection or be repaired if I decided to go that route. Clearly Car city wanted to have their last dig at me, I assume they wanted me to pay for something I didn’t do for the reviews as they knew, I never mentioned the seat. Luckily, the truth always comes out and they re-listed the car using the same advert. You can clearly see the tear was there before my purchase. Just confirms how slimy these people are. Funnily enough as well, there is no tear described in the new advert either, why?

I will attach screenshots to support my review on Google. There are more reviews similar to mine on their Google page as well as Autotrader, only God knows how many deleted in order to get issues resolved. I’d also question, if my car was returned to them on 3rd October and they’ve reposted it on the 13th, were all the problems repaired or just covered up to be the next persons problem? I’d strongly recommend finding another place when buying a car, as this place is VERY unprofessional and sell faulty cars.
