Do not use this service
I wasn't using their service anymore, but forgot to cancel my membership , which is absolutely my fault, so it was renewed automatically.
I went on their site to cancel, five days after the renewal. I thought I could just cancel the membership, and get refunded for the remainder of the billing cycle. At that time it was stated in their own refund policy that "if you don't want our service we don't want your money".
But when going to the section where you can cancel the membership in your profile, what I found was that if I cancel I am forced to keep the membership for the whole year, and basically all I'm canceling, is the auto renewal!
I then wrote to customer support to ask them to cancel my membership and refund me because I'm not using their services anymore. They just linked me a 2 line refund policy in a FAQ section (this was a much more vague and simplified version of the policy I have found). When I confronted support (which likely was an AI bot), with the policy (elsewhere on their site) I've found, all I got was "Thanks for laying that out so clearly. Unfortunately the refund policy you found is outdated. We'll be changing it to avoid further confusion".
Cool...so the policy of not taking the money of people who don't want to use your service is outdated.
Anti consumer greedy company, just like the rest of the lot in the tech industry right now. I have cancelled my membership and had my account deleted, for what its worth.

i paid for one year and the service worked only for 2 months. I didn't get my money back.. VERY VERY BAD SOLUTION and VERY LOW CUSTOMER SUPPORT EXPERIENCE. Shame
SYNC doesn't work, NO MAINTENANCE

They have all the data in the system, they know what is correct because they show the correct state when reporting the bug yet still don't fix it. This app is definitely dead and not being maintained.

Disappointed: Paid for Buxfer, but Features Not Unlocked and No Support Response!
I paid for a Buxfer subscription expecting access to premium features. However, even after payment, my account still shows as a Free plan, and I cannot access the features I paid for. I have tried reaching out to Buxfer support multiple times, but I’ve received no response whatsoever.
This lack of customer support is unacceptable, especially for a paid product. I feel scammed and frustrated, Buxfer took my money but didn’t deliver the promised service.
If you’re considering Buxfer, please be aware of this issue. I cannot recommend this app based on my experience.
Scammy Cancellation policies
App is somewhat ok however the fact that, if you cancel your automatic subscription renewal, it cancels your paid advantages immediately and not at the end of the period you paid for is extremely scammy in 2025 and designed to have people forgot about it/be late to cancel it
This practice should be illegal imo, you should be able to cancel any time and all advantages your paid for should stay until the end of the time you paid for. Like any respectable app is doing.
Would not recommend.
Abysmal customer service
This app is fairly useful for monitoring your finances and budgeting. It is not all that cheap but does a reasonable job in helping you keep on top of your finances.
But where it really falls down is on customer service. Contact them with a problem and you will be fobbed off by a polite and friendly - person? chatbot? AI? who will assure you that your issue has been passed forward/escalated/chased etc etc but nothing is ever done about it for week after week after week after week. Chase as many times as you like but nothing happens.

The platform has some glitches, especially with Investment and Budgeting functionality.
I reached out to the support 5 weeks ago explaining the nature of the issue and they keep telling me that it's okay and I have just to wait.

I spent months trying to figure out an easy way to replace my old Quicken and Mint account. Buxfer is exactly what I wanted and even better.
The system is reliable and stable and seems to use good security with good or manual bank sync and my investment accounts. I like the easy Apple app too to enter transactions on the go. I am keeping it for years to come.
Issues with functinality included in paid packadge
When it works its great, but when something is wrong - there is no support - only generic customer service replyes. They investment tracking funcitnaly is not wofking from September 24' and instead of pro-active communicaiton and fixes - nothing is improving in this area. Unacceptable for the tool which changres significant $$ monthly and manages very sensitive data. It doesnt build the trust that there is a competent and active team behind it.

However, when synchronization issues do arise, the customer support is severely lacking—I've never received any assistance. Many other reviewers have mentioned this as well, which suggests that the company has little interest in addressing issues or engaging with its users. Furthermore, new features or updates are infrequent, which is disappointing for long-term users.
To improve, the company must prioritise customer support and offer more regular updates to enhance the user experience. Until these areas are addressed, I can’t justify giving it a higher rating.

My experience has been extrememly negative.
Buxfer does not sync with bank and when problems are raised with them they say 48 hours response and they ignore and close the request.
They'll take your money and ignore you and the issues with the platform - paid an annual fee and strongly regret it.
I also have had notifications from my banks of log-ins from India and the US when I'm not using it, which is extremely concerning.
So, I just cut my losses after no support and what I consider quite dodgy practice (Waited 3 months and raised probably over 10 tickets without response)—not worth the risk.
No support
I'm interested in a simple bookkeeping program and found Buxfer recommended by PC Mag. I created an account, and connected my banks, but the accounts did not appear. Later it said I had too many accounts and offered a monthly subscription, which I don't want, because I'm not familiar with the service. Now I want to delete my account (not each bank account separately) but there is no option or support available. Very unhappy with Buxfer. Wish I didn't create my account.

In theory, the application looks great, but I can only advise you to stay away from it.
Firstly, the synchronisation works only poorly and you constantly have to re-enter your access data, sometimes several times a day.
But the main thing is the lousy support, which doesn't really exist. I had a problem with my subscription and all I got from support was the same messages over and over again. It was worded in a very friendly way - but each time it was just "we'll take care of it", after which I heard nothing more from them.
In other words, this is another one of those applications that looks great at first glance - but as soon as the first problem arises, you realise that this is not a trustworthy company.
And since my money is at stake here, it's out of the question for me. That's why I completely deleted the account (which I had put a lot of work and effort into).
Hands off!!!
Addendum: At least today they have refunded me all the amounts I paid so far. That's quite something

As a replacement to Mint.com, this package is the best I have seen so far, and I have been at this for the past 6 days of trial and errors.
Sure it takes a couple of days to learn and setup based on your needs.
Automatic download of your transaction from your bank accounts and credit cards allowed me to connect to all that I used.
Its Mint.com importing capabilities definitely cant be beat, simply save all your transactions from mint and fire up the import
But first you should create all the accounts using the same account name as defined in mint.
Don't bother with the categories, they will get created automaticaly, all that is left is to rearrange the hierarchy
Dont waste your time and money
Spent so much of my time over months to organise the categories of my spend, adding rules etc as it seemed like a great product at the start.
It is a really good product, when it works - but the sync system is utterly lousy and unreliable. you could spend hours trying to figure out why something doesnt add up only to realise the sync just didnt download a bunch of transactions.
their customer service is absolutely shameful - they cant be bothered. my current sync issue has been up for a couple of months, and their position is 'well we'll let you know when it's fixed'. that's pretty much it. in the meanwhile, they are more than happy to continue charging my subscription fees.
what a complete waste of my time this product has been! would give them a score of zero if I could.
Does Not Meet Real-Life Scenarios
Is not simple to use for real-life scenarios.
The of Transfer Transactions is set the same in both accounts. Not true in real life. Transaction are cleared and resolved at different periods.
Transactions which are resolved can be to easily edited.
Budgeting for a household takes some manual effort, with joint bills and joint accounts.
Have a joint account, I pay for some on my credit card and the transfer the amount from the joint account. Ensuring that only half of the transaction goes against my budgets and that my other half contributes is not easy, the balance of the joint account is only half mine.
Useless software
Useless software. It would not sync with my credit union. After waiting three days for a response to fix my sync issue I finally deleted my account. Complete waste of time and effort.
Synch system is constantly broken
Synch system is constantly broken and the customer service is less use than a chocolate teapot. I have been unable to use the system for over 3 months despite them taking a subscription renewal. The courts beckon as I am getting to answers from them. DO NOT SUBSCRIBE TO THIS USELESS PRODUCT.
Pay for premium but get no service
I pay a monthly fee and have several accounts. Continually they are all just gone. Try to add them back, it asks me to upgrade to the plan that i already have. No response from company from multiple emails. Cutting my losses and running. BUYER BEWARE!
