After purchasing a Land Rover Defender which had many photos not truly representing the vehicle I purchased I found the vehicle to also be problematic! Then when attempting to chime in on the seller’s other vehicles BAT monitors any bad press and only cares about selling vehicles with zero ratings for there bad sellers! When I asked BAT to contact the seller they went silent. I have owned Land Rovers for close to 50 years and understand that they can have issues my issue however is photos that don’t tell the full story! Never again for BAT in my business dealings

I sold with no reserve. What a mistake. They tell you it stirs up bidding interest. All it does is guarantee they get a big commission but at the cost of the seller taking a hit.

BaT is a joke. They wanted me to list my classic sports car that has been completely restored at no reserve. When I told them I wouldn't do it, they stated they could only go HALF of what I wanted to reserve to be. Who does that? They won't list my car for auction that I am willing to pay them for. Its my problem if I am listing for too much...then it won't sell and they will get my money but to refuse me service because they want me to risk almost 40-60k...they are INSANE

I am echoing the sentiments that I read here. With all the reviews and very little positive speaks volumes about BaT. BaT didn't want a reserve even though it was significantly below the recent selling prices of the same model. Nonsensical irrational reasons provided. I didn't get the impression that my assigned assistant truly understood classic and collector cars or was interested in being helpful. It was clear from his communications that this was just a job for him. Without the feeling of trust with Bat staff, I feel that I may have dodged a bullet here. I would suggest to anyone considering offering their lovingly looked after vehicle to a new home to go elsewhere. BaT appears to have lost their way.

Canned reply which does not address the issue that I presented in my review. They speak of curated autos, but it appears that an owner who has had a limited edition and numbered classic for 23 years, has a complete vehicle history, including provenance from the day it was first sold and requested a reserve that was about 30-40% below latest sold comparables (plural) was inadequate for their curation needs. I stand by my original review that the person that was assigned to me did not appear to be motivated and failed to answer my questions accurately and completely or consider comparables. I truly believe this was just a job for him and that with inadequate assistance from him for my auction, I chose not to proceed and avoided the probability of not getting full value using BaT for my auction. I encourage everyone to carefully consider BaT and run (don't walk) as soon as anything questionable starts coming from them. Bat is losing their way.

far far far too much nit picking and "oh by the way we need this additional thing" obstacles placed in the seller's way. It's like they don't want your business. A frustrating time wasting money wasting experience.
They need to revamp their business model.

Je suis obligé de perdre du temps et de payer des honoraires d’avocat pour la procédure en justice à partir de la France. Je réévalué ma note en fonction de leur bonne volonté.

I had a winning bid for a Porsche 356 on 11/26/2024. A withdrawal of $1000 dollars and no contact or email from bring a trailer. I am forced to waste time and pay lawyer's fees for the legal proceedings from France. I reevaluated my rating based on their goodwill.

I too, as a seller, have unfortunately only just come across this site. These assistants also urged me to put my car up for auction without a reserve. Allegedly this would encourage bidders to place higher bids . What a lie !!! I put a 69 Fiat 500 Giardiniera up for auction . Absolutely top condition . Value approximately between 20-25000 Eur . I now have to sell the car for 11250 dollars (about 10630 Eur).
Because I was so stupid , listened to the assistant , and did not set a reserve . BAT is all about auctioning quickly and collecting the commission. BAT has cost me about 10000 Eur because of the wrong advice. I can only advise against Bringatrailer, never again.

Another seller asked you if he has to accept the highest bid (50% of the real value) in an auction without reserve.
or he can withdraw from the sale . possibly with a penalty of 20% of the bid .

A very disappointing experience. I purchased an suv through Bring a Trailer that was misrepresented as a clean low mileage driver. Upon receiving the vehicle, it was obvious that a ton of rust had been sprayed over with undercoating and the engine cradle was rotted out making the vehicle entirely unsafe to drive. The seller was unwilling to work with me on trying to make this right. I even offered to pay to ship the vehicle back and pay the seller what their cost for the car. The problem here is that while the platform used to be enthusiasts selling to enthusiasts, it is now crowded with corner dealers selling public auction garbage at premium prices. There is not a decent way to research a seller ahead of time. There is no seller feedback to give. I am told by Kellan of post auction support, I can state it in my past auction comments but not on a live auction. If you would like to know the effectiveness of this, it is null. A seller's page shows their comments and not comments of others in their previous auctions. When a dealer is flipping multiple cars a week, the chances of someone going back to my specific auction for research is extremely low. I dont understand how this may help potential buyers from bad sellers. BaT distances themselves from the sale by stating they are merely a medium to join buyers to sellers and will do little to nothing if your experience is poor. Not only that, they have censored me from commenting on this seller's other auctions in which I see very similar rust issues. I was told I have to abide by the commenting rules, which I had read through ahead of time. These shady dealership's are allowed to continue selling trash with no repercussions while BaT collects a fee and wipes their hands of it. Having explained this to the post auction rep, is the seller still allowed to sell? Yes. Am I allowed to comment? No. Would I ever use this platform again? Absolutely not and I will have no qualms explaining to people why. BaT is supposedly refunding my buyer's fee so I will only be out 120% of the vehicle's strike price. I have to register and pay the sales tax so I may donate it.

THEY ARE THE WORST!
TO MAXIMIZE THEIR COMMISSION, FIRST THEY "ADVISE" YOU NOT TO AUCTION YOUR VEHICLE WITH A RESERVE.
WHEN I INSISTED ON A RESERVE, THEY LOW BALLED MY RESERVE AND WOULD NOT ALLOW ME TO SET MY OWN RESERVE PRICE.
READ THEIR REVIEWS FIRST BEFORE YOU EVEN CONSIDER USING THIS BOTTOM FEEDER COMPANY.

I enjoyed following BAT as I have several classic cars however it would appear if they disagree with a comment - they will put you on probation. With no indication of the duration. No notification ahead of time - just plain censorship for the lack of a better word. After that every comment is screened before printed. That takes time and often defeats the purpose of information that may be relayed to an unsuspecting or uneducated buyer. When contacting BAT regarding the duration of such a probationary period - there is radio silence. The point is - I could see their point on one particular comment - and since I am a highly educated Medical Professional - I got the message. However their total lack of candor on the duration of this so called probation is disappointing. When I see syrupy comments on a car by one particular individual - that are always the same for almost every vehicle - printed - yet “ under review “ for comments that might actually have bearing or relevance on the condition or potential issues a buyer may want to have more information on - I have to be seriously concerned about the neutrality of the process. Date of experience - ongoing for the last 2-3 months!!!!! Doc Holiday

Bought a 1990 Porsche 9442s. Every effort was made by seller to hide horrible defects in body and paint as well as mechanical issues. When I called to complain was told by Cust Svc would get back to me. Long and short was that CS said there really nothing BAT COULD DO. I myself should try to work things out with seller. Since seller ghosted me and I never heard back from BaT I am stuck with a car that has many issues. I was asking for a small settlement ($500 on a $15,250 price) but now =BaT has ghosted me as well. Only way I wouuld ever consider bidding on a car again if it was close enough that I could travel to car locatiion for reasonable price.
The very least BaT could do is black list the seller.

Decent listings however vehicles and sellers are not vetted so you are at the mercy of each individual sellers level of honesty. With no reviews to make a decision on and with Bring a trailer supporting the seller when they change terms (demand IMMEDIATE pickup because the car didn't sell for enough, while also not allowing to personally pick it up and only have it shipped) or when the car is completely misrepresented (Arrived leaking oil, with a bad head gasket and barely running due to the fuel pump being weak. ALL quite obvious upon delivery. Carsand Bids is a much better buying experience and better customer support but they also need to allow seller ratings.

well, after putting a ton of effort into submitting my car for auction, bat declined to accept it. after reading other reviews on bat and their very low scores they were given, i thanked them for not accepting it and saving me from a bad experience.

I should first say that, I agree with the owner of BaT... If you don't like the price, don't buy it!...
With that being said, I would guess that probably most listing on this sight are being price-jacked by a shill, and the owner of BaT knows it...
I had a bidder jack up the price of a motorcycle I was interested in by 10%, one bid. But then walked away, not to bid again... When I checked the bidders current status, the were bidding on 7 or 8 vehicles all at they same time... Who does that? A known shill does that... If things don't feel right, I would suggest you walk away, because you ARE being played!... Finally, because answers I have received, I get the feeling many sellers are also in on the scam...

BAT will not list a car with a reserve price that is close to what it is worth. They only make money if the car sells, so they will lowball the seller on the reserve to make sure it sells, even if the seller loses a large percentage of thier value to weak bidding!
I tried to use them to sell a car that has comparable cars listed online right now for prices between the high 50k's and high 70k's. My car is a mint condition example with less than 20k miles, fully optioned, and clean, with factory accessories like car cover and battery tender. BAT refused to list it unless I lowered my reserve bid from my stated 60k down to 45k, which is 10k less than any other listed comparable car on earth.
Thier representative told me "don't worry about the low reserve, the market will set a fair price" and then sent me a listing of a comparable car on thier site that had bid to 57k but NOT sold, due to a higher reserve. Obviously that owner had also been unwilling to sell thier car for so cheap a price, just so that BAT could make thier commission money regardless.
The fact that BAT will deny to list a car just beecause it is not sold at bargain sale prices is indicative of a dishonest and untrustworthy company.

Seems like there is discrimination at work in the selection process. I own a classic 1979 Cadillac hot rod with close to $200,000 in documented improvements that was turned down by BAT. They would not allow me to post my car for sale and offered no logical explanation. My car was originally owned by my grandfather who purchased it new in 1979. It was passed down to my mother, father and brother before finally making its way to me. I invested a ton of money and spent more than 10 years customizing the car, using the best of everything available. I have a professional ap[praisal and receipts for every penny spent. They claim to carefully curate every car on the platform, yet there are multiple cars similar to mine but no where near as beautifuyl./ makes no sense and the worst part is the lack of professionalism in simply providing a clear policy detailing how the selection/qualification process works - because it doesn't.

I offered a 1958 Lancia Appia for sale. They insisted I list as a no reserve vehicle. I insisted on a reserve. They relented and allowed the listing. I then tried to edit the description because it was mentioning designers and engineers who had developed other Lancia's but not the Appia Series II. This car had a well known designer - Vittorio Jano, but that was irrelevent to them. They posted the sale but organized it so the auction ended at 1:24pm on Labor Day. Suffice it to say, it did not meet reserve. The entire experience with Bring-a-Trailer was unpleasant. I am not an outsider to the collector car industry and like me, others I know within the industry have soured greatly to this platform. BEWARE!!

I submitted a beautiful vintage car dealership sign, identical to one that sold last year on BaT. I spent hours on photography, taking 2 videos, staging, and prepping the sign. After about six days, BaT sent me a boilerplate email saying that my submission was declined. I invested so much time, money, and effort, only to receive a generic rejection. Then, a week later, the same sign was listed by a 'prominent' BaT seller. It seems you need to have an inside track to be successful. IMO, this equates to favoritism and unfair business practices.
