What a nightmare, I’ve given a 5 star rating due to members of staff in the store on the moor in Sheffield. I ordered 2 items online and received them, they wasn’t suitable for me, so wanted to return them. Well I then realised that I had used an incorrect email address (which was accepted online!) so I contacted customer service support explained the issue and asked if they could alter my incorrect email address! They couldn’t, so instructed me how to get a return started, which I did but couldn’t receive it due to this issue with the email address. I contacted them again and was informed that they could see my return request and if I wanted to have them send me the returns label. I said yes please and then waited. After a couple of days I had to contact them again at this point I was informed that they couldn’t send it me and advised me to go into store. If I was informed of this at the beginning I could have sorted this a couple of weeks before. So I ended up going into store and the 2 staff on was brilliant, they listened to me and looked into it and finally they sorted it within minutes. I thanked them and told them they had made my day! This was on Friday 5th June. So please send my gratitude to them again.

Lovely helpful staff, encouraged to try on my order to check it fitted , also I saw a Tshirt i decided to buy and again taken to fitting rooms to check fit.

Staff was really friendly, especially Kye she was really helpful, made finding what I needed really easy.

Ordered on-line and even though I ordered my size they were too small. I returned them to a branch to exchange but to be honest, I found the shop staff a little bit arrogant, as in "oh joy" muttered when I explained my return and an "I can't be bothered" attitude.

Molly was so helpful and friendly when helping us with backpacks, she had so much knowledge and we were taking a very long time, she was so patient with us and our 2 year old, we ended up buying a hiking carrier after she told us so much about it and helped us test it out. For such a young assistant she is so knowledgable and enthusiastic!

Ross helped me get some hiking boots, was so knowledgeable and helpful, lovely people

I purchased the berghaus freedom 7 online and when I went to the store to pick it up rio was so helpful. She let me check the size before I officially picked it up so I could see how big it actually was for getting it to the car. After seeing all of the tents up stairs and how big they all are, I decided I was going to change it to a slightly smaller one. Rio and her colleague spent loads of time helping me choose and compare to make the right choice. She price matched what I had seen online and chased the extra bits like the carpet down for me and even applied the discount to that which I wouldnt have got online. Once I'd made the decision on which tent she told me to fetch my car and they opened the loading bay gates to get the tent so I didn't have to take it all through sheffield, Its the 600xl so it's a big, heavy bag

I rang the store this morning and an amazing employee called Emily answered and reassured me about the tent I was enquiring about was only a display and that another amazing college of Emily’s called Rio was in the process of taking the tent down and packing it away for me to collect!

By far the best customer service I have ever received from anyone.

They both were so friendly and smiley.

Adam & Emily were great and both very helpful.

Adam’s vast product knowledge really helped me make a more informed decision to purchases today and I really valued his honest and none biased opinions.

He was more than happy to get products out the box to check out to aid getting a fee for them and the weight, build quality etc.

Emily was very friendly and honest getting Adam to assist as he was more of a subject matter expert in the field of things I was enquiring about. She also greeted me well as I came in which led to discussing purpose of being there today in addition to some banter and chit chat on work related things and accessories.

Emily was very helpful in store today, she is an asset to Blacks! I’ve been in twice recently and the staff can’t do enough for you to support your search for the right gear.

If Carlsberg done tents then this would be the best tent shop in the world. 5 star service from a 5 star professional shop. Thank you to Adam and team top job, thank you for the service.

Bought a Vango tent, useful being able to view pitched tents prior to purchase, found Emily really helpful and very pleasant to deal with.

I visited Blacks store in Sheffield and somehow left feeling ready to summit Ben Nevis or an average sized hill. The staff were outstandingly good, part expedition guides, part mind readers, appearing exactly when I needed help. If retail had an Olympics, they’d win every medal or at least give a good showing and still have time to fit you with the perfect jacket or Rab hoodie.

Stevie was extremely knowledgeable on new products in the store’s range and able to direct me to exactly what I was looking for.

Everyone in store was extremely helpful. Ross especially looked after me, discussing options for boots for an upcoming hike across Hadrian's Wall.

I was also helped with advice around hydration bladders and backpacks. This has helped me plan exactly what I need to take with me.
