Be wary of donations if not absolutely…
Be wary of donations if not absolutely perfect. We offered an expensive leather sofa accepted by photo so we moved ready for collection .it was rejected at the point of pickup is unacceptable and inconvenient. I had just been discharged after cancer op so could have done without the hassle. For goodness sake look at the photos of phone to query doubts we are not there for your convenience. No more donations from me im afraid .
Not Turning Up for Confirmed Donations
Happened again (3 times) in the last 2 months with donations of furniture booked and confirmed by email and phone but on the day not turning up. On top of the frustration is that when you ring the Old Kent Road store to see what's happening there's NEVER anybody answering. Wasted another whole day waiting for them to process the confirmed pick up and never going to use this charity again.
Lovely service in the Wallington store…
Lovely service in the Wallington store and had two lovely chaps delivered the sofa to me thank you so much
Disabled parking space violations
Discusting that they refuse disabled people use of disabled parking bays so they can use the disabled bays for loading goods into able bodied customers cars. Shame on you, these spaces are not your personal loading bays.
One star
One star. I arranged for British Heart Foundation to collect my late aunt’s immaculate Parker Knoll suite — with certificates and the original manual. After waiting all morning, after taking time off work and travelling long distance, the driver arrived, refused a drink, and dismissed the suite as “old fashioned” and “unsellable”. His attitude was rude and abrupt, and it was clear his van was full.I’ve since sold the suite for £200. I won’t use BHF again after this experience.
Early collection and refused to take furniture
The collection drivers arrived at 7am on a Saturday morning with no prior warning and repeatedly rung the buzzer.
They then refused to take the furniture. The wardrobe was fine, and the desk was sold to me by the British Heart Foundation themselves in its current condition, so I was unsure why they would not accept it back.
Arranged a collection for four pieces…
Arranged a collection for four pieces of furniture. Was told we’d be notified of a time slot. Got notification at 7.41am to say collection would be between 7.15 - 9.15am! Should’ve really received notification the day before for being early. Drove to property for collection five minutes away. Driver called once whilst I was driving and left message to say collection had been cancelled as no answer at the property. I called back within six minutes but no answer. Someone was waiting in the building but the driver had no common sense to press for the button reception. Staff at the property went outside to check for us but no sign. They didn’t couldn’t have been there anymore than five minutes. Was told they could not come back as they have to stick to times and routes, but would’ve now been at least 30 mins ahead for their time. The next property they collected from always also a family member so we know they were still in the area only 3 minutes drive away. So if you need furniture collection choose another charity, such as shame. We certainly wouldn’t use again.
Absolutely incompetent
Absolutely incompetent
Absolutely incompetent, I ordered a new buggy they sent me a worthless stamp album. I tried to call them but the agent said my signal was breaking up which just wasn't the case, she then transferred me and hung up in the process. We needed the buggy for a holiday next week so this charity has cost us extra money and hassle, I do not recommend using them.
Left feeling like a nuisance for being a giving person!!!!
Why are charities no longer grateful for donations?
Since losing my beloved Husband to a sudden Heart Attack a few years ago, I have supported BHF with donations, recent postcode lottery subscription and a donation in my will. Yesterday I visited my local home warehouse with donations of some quality items from my home.
I was met with a hostile notice board and a rude assistant who made me feel like a nuisance for being there and poked around the items in my open boot looking for items that she could refuse to take.
There was only one item (a light fitment) she refused to take, however there was no gratitude shown for all the items she did accept from me, but I was expected to understand that all charities work in the same way as they are under so much pressure!!!! Well here’s a thing. Everybody is under pressure for something in this life. I am under pressure to survive old age alone now, but I’ve not lost my manners and I’m still happy to help and support others.
I came away so bemused by the unfriendly attitude of the assistant I have decided I will never donate to BHF again and am seriously considering cancelling my subscription and changing my will to exclude them.

Successfully collected?!
I arranged a collection of a 4 seater sofa. On arrival the 2 lads who came said they were very sorry but they could not get it out of the house, despite me saying it came in OK (they did try). They told me if I got it out to call back and arrange pick up. 15 minutes after they left my son and I had got the sofa out so I called the store to ask if they could come back. I was met by a rude staff member who said they won't be back out, they're too busy (she didn't even ask any details). So I asked to arrange a new pick up and she was dismissive saying she was with a customer. My sofa is now outside getting wet and I'm going to have to pay for it to taken to the tip. Shame, it's a nice sofa and would have made them some money. I then got an email saying my sofa has been successfully collected!

If I could leave a minus review I would. Absolutely disgusting treatment waited in all day to be told couldn’t take it because it was marked. Surely someone would be grateful to to be given the opportunity to purchase something to help them. The collecting guy was very rude and didn’t want to know
Incredibly poor information provided.
We organised a collection of a triple wardrobe and a bed. Contacted BHF and asked specifically if they should be dismantled. We were advised yes, dismantle them.
Collection day arrived and the drivers advised they can't take dismantled items. Not the drivers fault.
BEWARE UNDERHANDED STAFF SALES TACTICS
BEWARE UNDERHANDED STAFF SALES TACTICS! at the Bridgend store. I enquired about a brand new table for sale, was told by lady staff member I could have an open box returned table for a discount. When I asked what was wrong with it told nothing, just re-donated back to store by original buyer. Got home with flat packed sealed box and separately boxed legs. Only to find table corner had a big chip. Then opened box with legs missing all 16 screws, washers and Allen Key. Totally devastated.Felt cheated and obliviously lied too. Called the shop and was told item could not be collected from me for 4 weeks for refund. They charge £40 for delivery but wanted me to return item to store and collect the bag of parts using my own petrol and transport. Also refused to refund me without going back into store to scan the barcode on my receipt. Very unprofessional service by manager Andy. I will never shop there again.
I visited your store in huntingdon…
I visited your store in huntingdon today where they are raising money for a young lad called Jack, so I paid £1 for the tombola as the money goes towards him and the member of staff said to me, are you sure you want to do it as all the prizes are crap! Also there was a mystery amazon box that was there for £30 and me and my mum were going to go half each on it (who doesn't love a mystery box?) And the same woman said it's not worth it as its all the same sort of crap that is on the counter for the tombola and they get stuff out of the box to put on the till for more prizes for the tombola! Not a good way to be telling customers not to buy stuff. Needless to say, we didn't buy the box even though I really wanted to, because she put us off of it.
My mum had bought a new table and chairs out of there for £150 so luckily you did get some money from us this time. I am a frequent visitor to this store and have not seen this lady in there before , but I do not really want to bump into her again!
Tried to donate a triple wardrobe
Tried to donate a triple wardrobe. Two "men" turned up with no manners or experience of moving furniture and said it was too big. What a waste of time.
Not able to purchase an item
I wanted to buy a chest of drawers but wasn't able because I don't have parking space at the front and the chap said the drivers may get fined on the road where I live . So I was very disappointed
I wish I had read these reviews first
I wish I had read these reviews first. I would not recommend Newcastle BHF.
We contacted BHF and a local charity about donating 2 sofas. The local asked for photos and said they would be
Delighted to take them but unfortunately I had already taken the BHF call and booked the collection slot with them so turned down the local charity. BIG Mistake.
BHF turned up in the morning booked for collection and the drivers refused to take the sofas because “ the colours did not match” - these are good sofas with some sun fading and a few small marks but still in good condition. So we were left with the sofas and unable to delay our new sofa delivery, to make things worse the drivers arrived at 10am with just a 10 min phone call notification from the driver but then at 3pm I received a formal 2 hour notification slot from BHF to say that my driver would be coming between 16:15-18:15 and so I thought maybe they were coming again to relook but then after changing plans to wait in again no driver turned up and the tracking saying that I was slot no 9 changed to finished and no one turned up.
Really unprofessional service and if the charity only want immaculate as new furniture donations they should make this clear from outset, or ask for photos to be uploaded before collection arranged.
It has left us with a really bad experience of this charity and one I would not want to support in future.
Really disappointed with the heart…
Really disappointed with the heart foundation Dunfermline we arranged for things from a house clearance due to a bereavement we told them when we phoned what items there were toasters kettles air fryers slow cookers amongst other things and they we’re delighted to organise a collection for today, they said they had a big van so could do this, guys turned up in a wee van took all the electrical to one side and said we can’t take these, no thank you nothing, I could have organised another more grateful charity to take these things so now I’m left with lots of electrical in my garden that he’s just dumped back. So if your like us clearing a deceased relatives house think carefully of what charity you want to use, because this was terrible the way it was done.
Quite disappointed with my BHF…
Quite disappointed with my BHF collection, I donated a childs wardrobe set, contains, a bedside table, wardrobe and chest of draws, it was bought in 2020 off marketplace. The complaints about the bedside table and the wardrobe, by the driver I thought were trivial, he said the bedside table has some water damage, this has been the same as when I first bought it and I have had no problems with it since. He said the wardrobe has a gap which means it has come away and should not be like that, is this guy qualified ? I've had no issues with that wardrobe set and I was very upset to see how he separated the chest of draws from the whole set. Happy to take the other item (tv stand), never again will i donate to this organisation, i will give them away for free next time. Very disappointed
