TERRIBLE OVERALL EXPERIENCE

1. FRUSTRATING MOBILE AND WEB APP
- THIS IS ABSOLUTELY INCONVENIENT! They revamped the User Interface with their new style guide, but they completely ignored the USER EXPERIENCE! I created an account on the new version, but couldn’t receive OTPs! I waited for hours with no results!
Most elderly users are completely lost when trying to set up an account or navigate through the features they need. How about investing in USABILITY? Just check with BDO users—everyone is complaining about the app, yet nothing changes!

2. LEAKED PERSONAL INFORMATION
Too many people are getting scammed by FAKE AGENTS pretending to be BDO staff. They have ALL our information: full names, birth dates, email addresses, phone numbers, and even our EXACT ADDRESSES! How does this happen?! Have some EMPATHY! If you can’t help customers recover their money, at least IMPROVE YOUR SECURITY! DO NOT LET OUR INFORMATION BE LEAKED! You have the means to TRACE ALL THE LEADS—put in the effort! It’s NOT IMPOSSIBLE! You already have all the reference numbers of those transactions!!

AVOID! Just get a credit card elsewhere. They are unreliable and money hungry corporation

I know bdo is a big company but i would advise you to stay away! Such big company wouldnt be successful without stealing money from people. They would charge you everytime you withdraw and it was a mistake for me using their credit card. I was amazed at how fast they issued me a card and now i know why. I went abroad and discontinued my card 8 months ago but they kept sending me bills for a card i have settled thrice and am not using anymore as its unusable because its already expired. They have charge me for late penalty fees which i cannot understand i am still having these when i have settled completely already. Save yourself a headache and stay away from this bank! They are rich for a reason.

zero star

if theres an option for no star at all, i will give it to bdo. Their credit card is not safe.you will just wake up and receive a bank statement with fraudulent transactions. I don't know why no otp code was asked . Bdo is a big company but I don't know why the security is like for small time business. I was charged 20k pesos and they want me to pay it while the investigation is on going. they said if i will not pay it, interest will continue to charge my credit card. So unfair

Based on experience with BDO Pasig…

Based on experience with BDO Pasig Tektite Branch, some employees care to chit chat, busy with their phones, and not mindful about long lines of bank clients in line. there is a numbering system but the turnover could be faster if the BDO employees are sensitive enough to expedite processing and shorten the queue. BDO customer service has become lackluster. Has BDO bank become complacent?

Horrible

I’m frustrated with BDO’s online services. The website isn't mobile-responsive, no QR scan feature. has 'access denied' issues, and requires frequent password changes. The mobile app requires a separate account from the website which complicates access. Additionally BDO sent me an unsolicited credit card, causing stress about potential fees. Overall, it feels as though BDO is ignoring customer feedback and relying solely on their established reputation, which has been disappointing.

Very poor customer I recently had a frustrating experience trying to change my phone number with this company. The customer service process was unnecessarily tedious, involving multiple layers of verification that seemed excessive for such a simple request. The questions asked were vague and unclear, making it difficult to provide the correct answers.

What’s even more frustrating is that, due to a single verification question that I couldn't answer—largely because of how it was presented—my account ended up being locked. This feels incredibly disproportionate for a straightforward issue.

Overall, my experience with customer service has been disappointing. It seems there’s a significant need for better training and clearer communication among the representatives. If you’re considering reaching out for help, be prepared for a long and frustrating process. I would not recommend this service based on my experience

Poor Customer Service

Just opened an account last week. Go through the whole Zoom meeting for my application since I'm working abroad. My account application was approved as per the received SMS, and was instructed to check my email. Till now I haven't received the email, so no idea what my bank details are. I have sent numerous emails to their customer service and tried calling the customer support number but I was on hold for like 30mins, didn't get the chance to talk to anyone still up to now. Given that I am currently abroad, calling their hotline and waiting for 30 minutes continuously and not getting any answers is costly. It's frustrating and annoying.

I hope their services improves asap.

it being one if not the largest bank in the philippines, the services offered are pretty subpar, app is laggy and customer care is a nightmare to go through, im pretty much contemplating changing banks if not for my current savings account having years of records.

Bad Customer Service

I am currently in US, and my online app is not accessible anymore. My first few months here I can still open the app for my transactions in the Philippines but just last week it logged out and I cannot logged in anymore due to wrong password it said but I doubt it’s wrong and then my account got locked and ro reset it needs the otp from my PH number, tried calling the “24/7” customer service and the US Toll number, I spent money just to buy the Viber credit of 120mins call, the load just runs out while waiting for the “next available customer agent”. I’ve been calling since 9am PhT to 1pm; I then again bought the 180mins call and now called their number at 11pm PhT and yet no one is still available. I did not expect this big of a hassle from you BDO!!

Hindi gumagana ang apps nyo.. bdo pay or bdo online, palaging unable to send money, urgent pa nman.
Ayusin nyo po ang apps nyo..
Isa sa pinakamalaking banko ng pilipinas pero ang apps hndi maayos.

So disappointed!!!

So disappointed!!!! Asking so much requirements still useless!!! I regret, I get the bdo insurance that make me struggle and stress, u can't pay by online..It supposed to be more easier to open account again if u have record already with them..Mabulaklak lang siguro Yong ng offer sa akin. That I can do In other bank that can give me more easier and convenient service. Better fix your Internet so that it will not be chappy, and better connections.

DO NOT BE FOOLED

DO NOT BE FOOLED! BDO is the most unreliable bank in the Philippines pretending to be one of the best bank in the Philippines. Just to name a handful:
[1] Intrusion protection system is using one of the oldest and most annoying and time-consuming system (15 second wait and sometimes repeats) when other quality banks already opted for non-intrusive protection;
[2] OTP Generator service has been down for more than FOUR (4) years that they could have just said they don't have that service anymore;
[3] OTP via SMS fails to send SMS most of the time for international numbers for more than ONE (1) year already (I had a PH number before and sometimes had issues but can't verify this now). This has never happened for a New Zealand number more than a year ago and definitely not a carrier issue as SMSC messages are originating from BDO's crappy provider.
[4] They keep on pushing users to transfer from "BDO Digital Banking" (legacy) app to new "BDO Online" app when they are not yet able to completely provide the service that the legacy app provides (e.g., securities reporting). If BDO is a New Zealand company it has already been investigated by the NZ government for their pathetic QoS.
[5] BDO customers has the HIGHEST victim of scams that target mostly retirees and the uninitiated, worse it is well suspected that a number of these are even INSIDE JOBS that BDO customers already can't even trust BDO staff.
[6] Do a comparative QoS of different Philippine banks, and listen to the feedback of consumers (just be wary of inauthentic "click farms" and paid "online armies"). I won't mention another bank here so as not to be biased, but BDO obviously DO NOT CARE about their middle-class and lower-class customers, and even for their upper-class and international customers their QoS is lacklustre more so a joke if compared to New Zealand banks.

I am waiting to visit the Philippines to close my BDO account and transfer to that another bank that I personally know has improved heaps better through the years, especially for QoS on outward remittance service.

P.S.: I am still a stock investor of BDO so definitely not a biased post. I am talking about their quality of service, not their cunning to do business and make money which is a different story altogether.
