Horrible business policies when it's their fault
Had a pleasant experience in the store but everything went downhill from there.
Basically, when I was measured, they told me I was a smaller size than I expected, and I made them size me up just in case. Always easier to take a dress in than to add to it.
They told me their dresses run big, and it was definitely going to be big on me, so I was very comfortable with that decision.
Well, I got my dress 3 months later, and it was way too tight in the rib cage area. The bust and waist are fine, maybe even a little loose. My measurements are the same as before, but I can barely zip it up. I can't breathe comfortably or move around in it. Another girl in our bridal party had the exact same issue, along with other manufacturing defects with the dress.
When I called the store, they said they could do nothing for me since there are no exchanges or refunds allowed.
So if they happen to measure you and order you the wrong size or make the dress wrong, they can do nothing for you.
Sounds like a terrible business plan. I can easily (and will in the future) go to many other stores where they will actually correct their mistakes.
So to sum it up:
1. Size people correctly. When in doubt, go up in size, not down.
2. If you do make a mistake in your sizing or dress-making, own up to it and correct it.
I did nothing wrong. I went into the store, got measured, placed the order, paid, and patiently waited. I'm now stuck with a dress that is too small and a store that is not willing to work with me.
You can't try on your exact size in the store because they don't carry all sizes. You rely on them to size you correctly for their dresses. They know their own dresses best. (Or so you would think.) You have to pre-pay for the dress ahead of time, which was about $200 for us. You then have to wait 3 months for them to make the dress. And if the dress happens to be too small, which makes it very difficult/impossible to alter, they can do nothing for you to correct their mistake. REALLY?!?! They don't have anything in inventory either, so it will take a long time if you do want to order another dress and spend more money with them.
Oh, and they did say I could make an appointment for alterations, but I know they just want my money. And they charge way more for alterations than other places. My friend was quoted more than 3 times what another place cost.
We have plenty of other friends who will be getting married in the future. I will tell them to definitely NOT go to Alfred Angelo's Bridal since our bridal party has had so many issues already, not just mine.
David's Bridal is WAY better with their policies and their customer service.
The women were so helpful!
The women were so helpful. We took my grand daughter who is a handful with personality. She wanted nothing to do with playing dress-up. Cynthia was fantastic. Just told me where to measure which was not rocket science. Shs also helped me find my very first store bought gown for my daughters wedding. Awesome experience.
Hello my name is Vanessa Williams and I …
Hello my name is Vanessa Williams and I would like to say that the service on 1960 was great. The attended name was Starr and she was very helpful , polite. I have never had encounter like that before Starr was harm and charming. Thank you Starr for the great experience!!!!!!
Excellent customer service
After going to other Bridal shops in the area, I was incredibly impressed with the quality of the dresses and level of service at Alfred Angelo. My consultant Darlene was very helpful- she pulled the styles I had written down before coming in, encouraged my bridesmaids to help pick dresses, adjusted the dresses so I could get an accurate idea of how they would fit, and really made me feel like a bride (and not self conscious as I had at other places). The ladies there are very professional and it is clear that customer service is a top priority. Plus prices were very reasonable for such excellent service and dress quality! I would recommend Alfred Angelo to anyone looking for a gown!!
Stressed beyond help
Before placing the order in January for my dress, I spoke with the seamstress about my ideas for it, her response was "oh yes, that will be easy, no big deal" so I ordered my Disney, $1500 dress with bustier and slip coming to a total of over $2000.
After this, we spoke to the seamstress about bridesmaid dresses. Long, each one with different straps. She suggested the dresses, said we could hem each one and use the additional fabric to do the 5 different straps with no issues. Each bridesmaid was there to speak with her before we placed the order. Now, Alfred Angelo gives a military discount for the bride. 30% off. But since my dress was Disney, and they can't give discounts on Disney, Joselyn (a worker there) told us we could have the discounts on the bridesmaid dresses and confirmed a total price of $147 per dress, plus alterations with all of us. So we ordered them at the end of April. When my bridesmaids went to pay, they were charged full price for the dresses. They said bridesmaids do not get the military discount. Jocelyn then looked at my bridesmaid and told her I was a liar and she never told me they could have the discount. After many conversations with different people, the discounts were given for my bridesmaids. When they went to pay again, they were told no. Apparently, someone had put the military discount on another girl's account, instead of mine. More phone conversations happen...this was finally fixed.
The bridal dress came in in May, the seamstress said "do you still want to do those alterations to your dress?" of course I do, that's why I bought that particular dress. Her response? "oh no, it's too much work and will be an extra $800 with the extra fabric" being upset, I decided to go a head with the alterations. She said to make an appointment with her in August since the wedding was in October. So I did.
The bridesmaid dresses came in and we set appointments with the seamstress for August as well.
My appointment came along and they told me the seamstress had moved and they had a new seamstress that I had to work with. After a very long conversation with her and the manager we were able to explain to her what alterations I wanted on the dress. She started my dress.
When the bridesmaid appointments came, the seamstress said they could not do straps on the dresses because there was not enough fabric. I asked what we could do and she said there was not enough time to order anything and we would have to come up with a different solution with the little bit she could get from the hem. She hemmed the dresses and put a train on all 5. After this (a few weeks before the wedding) Alfred Angelo fired her. They assured me that they were getting the original seamstress to come back and work on my dress.
A 3rd seamstress was hired. She said the last seamstress had messed up my dress and she was working hard to fix it. She fixed the hems on the bridesmaid dresses and said she could try to make straps, but there was not enough fabric for different ones and asked why I hadn't ordered some when I was told originally. Apparently there was time.
A week before the wedding, my dress was still not done. The seamstress had made the additional skirt I needed entirely too tight. And she said there was nothing she could do about the bridesmaid dresses. A worker, that knew all the issues I was having, asked why we didn't order sleeves a couple weeks before for the bridesmaid dresses and I explained we were not given that option and asked, again, if I could place a rush order. Again, I was told no.
When I had ordered the sleeves for my bridal gown with the additional fabric, the girl told me to order a certain size for my shoulder width and I did. When the sleeves came, they told me they were too big and I would have to pay extra to take them in, I did, and the sleeves were never taken in, they actually were the correct size. Now, the additional fabric I had to order for my dress was over $200 of fabric and there was so much left over after, I was very irritated. And they kept it. I was not reimbursed for these issues.
I was able to pick up my wedding gown less than a week before the wedding and 2 of my bridesmaids were able to get their dress the day before the wedding, with the sleeve work being completely flimsy and rushed.
Needless to say. I'm contacting their corporate office about all these issues. I suggest going literally anywhere else than here.
terrible customer service
One of my bridesmaids was measured incorrectly. They tried to fix their mistake by offering her a different dress, but my reason for buying matching dresses was so all the bridesmaids would match. My wedding is in 5 weeks and they may not be able to get me the dress we ordered in the size we need by my wedding!
every single bridesmaids gown was wrong
Every single bridesmaids gown was made wrong. Alfred Angelo took the gowns back, stating that would fix them or replace them. However it has been weeks and no gowns and no word for Alfred Angelo 's. My wedding is in a month, so now even if we get them back there will not be time to alter them.
Beyond disappointed.
Las Vegas, Nevada
I was extremely nervous about going wedding dress shopping and even considered not getting a dress at all. I had my first appointment with Alfred Angelo and my second of the day with David's Bridal. My first appointment was with Kate at Alfred Angelo.
Kate did a wonderful job of making me feel at eaze and even have fun trying on dresses. She tried everything she could and helped me figure out what I really wanted.
I didn't realize until later that she made my day wonderful, probably the best experience I could have had even for someone that was excited to go wedding dress shopping. After my experience at David's Bridal in Las Vegas, I felt ugly and like I was just another bride for them to make money off of.
Alfred Angelo didn't treat me that way. Kate went out of her way to make me feel like I was going to be a Princess on your wedding day. I couldn't pick my dress from Alfred Angelo (they did not fit into my wedding theme) so I am hoping that you will go for me and buy one from Kate!
Terrible service
I ordered a bridesmaid dress at the Greece, ny store. They didn't have any sizes in the dress I wanted. So I had to try on a size 4 and 10 when I am usually a 6. The lady said I should order 2 sizes up because it is "easier to take away fabric than it is to add"... Which ultimately made me spend almost 150 dollars in alterations which would be unnecessary if I had ordered my correct size. Also - I was told when I ordered the dress that alterations would be about 40 dollars.... So let's make people get bigger sizes to pay for ridiculous amounts of alterations. Very unprofessional and I will let everyone I know hear about this. Not acceptable.
Extremely Disappointed
I recently picked up my wedding dress and I'm extremely disappointed in what arrived. To start the dress was brought out all wrinkled. There are strings hanging from what is supposed to be a brand new dress. The beading is also lifting off and doesn't lay correctly. When I was zipped into the dress the top clasp pulled out and now needs to be reenforced. The dress ordered for me is too big, you can see down into the front of the dress due to a gap where the dress doesn't sit right and I have no figure or shape at all in this trumpet style dress. I was told that the dress being ordered would fit my chest and I would only need to have a little bit of the waist brought in. But because the entire dress is too big the whole thing needs to be altered to fit. So now I have to pay for a larger alteration and to also have these dress defects fixed. The only reason I rated you 2 stars is because at least your staff is nice. I'm beyond disappointed and frustrated. This is turning into a nightmare.
The WORSE Customer Service HORRIBLE Store Manager Barbara CHERRY HILL
I ordered a dress that was a poor replica as pictured in the book Alfred Angelo Bridal uses to advertise. I was told that the seamstress would be able to make the dress looked as pictured. After 7 months, I was told - the dress doesn't always come as pictured. One month before my wedding, I am stuck with no dress and a manager not willing to come up with a solution. The manager had a poor attitude, she was rude and has no customer service skills and I would not recommend anyone to this store. The one star if for the assistant manager who tried to find a solution but unfortunately - the manager undid all of her hard work.
BEWARE Arlington TX
Arlinton TX. store. All went well until dress came in and needed to be altered. Insisted the bride and mom of bride order two sizes bigger then they normally wear. Bride's bodice needed to be taken in 6 inches which resulted in the bodice looking nothing like the sample/picture. Due to the reconstruction it is now shorter- 2.5 inches above the floor. They want to keep altering it until it's "fixed". Wedding is 6/20/2015. Not sure what can be done. Managers want pictures, which we took and sent, to show the problems. It is a Disney collection dress. Next contact may be Walt Disney corp. Mom's dress altered 3 inches in.
Bridemaids insisted on ordering actual sizes they wear. Guess what, NO alterations needed. Wonder why?? It's Angelo's factory in China. Should be same sizes.
best experience ever!
West Covina Alfred Angelo is the best! We met Lisa with the hope that my sister would find a dress but never thought that we would be treated so special. We had been to another bridal store "DB" in Beverly hills because my sister was told had the most selection and best service. We drive 1hr away to be rushed and had to keep finding dresses for her and the lady who was supposed to be helping us was also helping 4 other brides. However with Lisa she brought so many dresses just from 1 picture that my sister showed her from her phone and helped her try it on and was with us the whole time (6hrs). The staff here is amazing and when she had to attend to her next appointment she handed us off soooo well that we never felt the change in service. Needless to say it was a tearful (happy tears) and such a memorable day when she found her dress!!!
Thank you again Lisa and all the staff at West Covina Alfred Angelo!!!! You are amazing; )
bad customer service
I am very disappointed with alfred angelos in boardman, Ohio . I spent $2,000 on my dress and accessories. Then I spent another $1,000 on my bridesmaid dresses. I made appointments and every time I showed up for my appointment, they would basically ignore me the whole time and focused on other brides. They rushed and 3 of my bridesmaid dresses can back in the wrong sizes and it wasn't just minor adjustments that needed made, I had to order new dresses. I was so mad. They also begged me 2 times a week for 100 dollar payments when I was clearly told I could pay 100 a month til they came in. They really hounded me around christmas and my dresses never came in when they said they would. They were suppose to be in 2 months before my wedding . They came in a month before and because they were made wrong i had to pay extra to put a rush on the orders. Then I used the alteration lady for my dress. She charged me 200 bucks and was suppose to be there when she brought the dress back to make sure everything fit right. They just called me and told me to come pick it up and it had to be picked up that week or it would be sent back due to store policy. I was out of state for work so I had to have someone else go get my dress. I was very disappointed with the professionalism and work ethic. I had 3 friends go elsewhere for their dresses and bridesmaid dresses after seeing how I was treated. I will never recommend anyone to this business unless things are changed. This is supposed o
Worst experience of my life!!!!! Baton Rouge, LA
This is the most rude and unprofessional company I have ever dealt with. My maid of honor placed and paid for her order in person on October 4th. On November 10th I went with another bridesmaid to pick her dress up. While we were there I inquired about my MOH's dress. There was no order anywhere. Annoyed and just wanting to get her dress in ASAP, I left a check with them to hold for a few days until I got paid. When the manager called to run my check I approved everything. I received a call back asking for my dl# and was promptly told that there would be an $85 balance when the dress was picked up. When I asked for what, I was told for a rush fee and rush shipping, which I assumed when I left the check wouldn't be included because it was a error on their part; not to mention that wasn't what I was told the cost of the dress was. Then I was told the dress could not be guaranteed to be in for my wedding. As it happened I was at work, and could not begin screaming. I hung up, called my bank, and put a stop payment on my check. A week later my MOH got a call from her husband that their account was overdrawn by $200 because all of a sudden they wanted to run her check from Oct!!!! She fought for her money and got it back. Now today I get a letter in the mail saying they have turned me over to telecheck. WORST COMPANY EVER!!! Not to mention my emails have been ignored by corporate.
Mother of the bride loves Lincoln Nebraska
This was the best experience I could have asked for my daughter. We were there at our appointed time and met by Alicia who was very attentive. All the staff was smiling and very good with all the customers even those who just walked in. Alicia listened to what my daughter wanted ,pulled a few dresses that met our request and then some of her choices. She was there for every dress tried on, made a few suggestions and helped us pick the perfect dress for us. Getting the dress hemmed was a piece of cake as the store has a great seamstress. Highly recommend this store on Normal Blvd.
Complete lack of customer service, unprofessional, and unapologetic
I am very disappointed in the Alfred Angelo Bridal store in Ridgeland, MS for several reasons. Because they do not take orders over the phone, I faxed my dress order form to them, and the fax came through with a line on it, so they could not read it. They then asked me to take a picture on my iPhone and email it to them (this would have been easier to do in the first place). They called the bride and bothered her during an already stressful time of wedding planning to tell her the picture I sent them was "too pixelated", and they could not read my information. After all of this, I called them, and they took my order over the phone (what they should have done in the beginning). Over the phone, the employee quoted me a price including tax for the dress. I thought I was finished with this already difficult process, but I was not.
When the order went through, they charged me more than they quoted me. I called to inquire about the price difference, and the explanation I got was, "Whoever quoted you the price just didn't do the proper investigation or look at it close enough". No apologies were made for the confusion or mistake. I understand mistakes are made; we are all human, but an apology would have gone a long way. I called back to speak to a manager only to find out that the unconcerned, unapologetic person I had previously spoken to was the manager (Brandy). The price difference was $20.00, and she said she could credit $5.00 to my debit card at the most. She was short with me and seemed quite annoyed that I would even inquire about a refund to honor the price that was quoted to me. The bottom line is: I jumped through several hoops to get my order in, did not get the price I was quoted, and no one seemed concerned. I will not do business with this place again, and I will also warn my friends about purchasing bridal gowns or bridesmaids dresses from here as well.
absolutely horrid.
I could honestly sit here and type out my entire reason and communication this far with a "reputable" company, but im so tired of crying over this cluster fu*k. So the very brief version:
Order a bridesmaid dress in ivory for my wedding dress-simple sweep train and i was going to alter to make reflect a little piece of me. The dress had pink on the breast ; there was black and red thread floating in the bust and around the dress; there was a big ball of black thread in the nipple area; the same size was ordered from the one i tried on in the store, it was much much shorter when i got it and it was much smaller. So i figured i could fix it if i ordered nore material- $24/yard plus shipping and it wasnt going to come in for 2 1/2 months!!!! F that!!! Ive aleeady invested to much time in this and my wedding is less than 3 months away!
Retail store tells me to contact Alfred Algelo. I do they tell me i need to go to retail unless its a manufacturing problem. The emails were not addressed to me. There was no empathy, they didnt even bother to check spelling or make it look professional. There is no ownership no help nothing. Im still fighting with them.
Worst mistake i ever made.
Terrible Customer Service-No Accountability for their Mistakes
I went to the Houston,TX Galleria location. I came into the store to try on/purchase a bridesmaid's dress. The woman who was assisting me took my measurements and said they would call me when my dress was ready for pickup. Paid over 200.00 for my dress and left. About 1 month later, I gave the store a call b/c i hadn't heard back from them. They told me the dress was not ready and they would call me when it was ready, about 1 month after that I receive a call the dress is ready. About 1 week after I received a certified letter stating Alfredo Angelo has made several attempts to contact me to pick up my dress, and if I do not pick up within 1 week they will ship it to their warehouse where I will have to make arrangements to pick it up and also be charged shipping fees, they only contacted me once! I called the store and thankfully the dress was still there so I went the following day to pick up. When I got there, the woman gave me my dress and walked away. I had to wait for her to come back out and ask her if I could try on the dress, assuming I was going to leave and not try it on first! I tried on the dress and it was too small. I came out and told the girl the dress was too small and her response was "alterations are made the day you come in to try on the dress" I responded "I did and you guys altered it to small" this woman repeated the same thing to me. "well alterations are made the day you come in to try on the dress" It was very clear this woman had no interest in helping me so I left and decided I would try it on at home with a different bra and try to make it work. I was unable to make the dress look appropriate with different bras, sticky tape, etc. I was basically busting out of my dress. I decided to call Alfred Angelo and explain to a different person I had only 1 week left until the wedding and needed them to fix the dress they altered too small. The woman informed me their seamstress only worked on Wednesdays and it would take her 3 weeks to fix the dress in addition to an additional 40.00 charge. I told her that was not ok since the wedding was 1 week away and why was I paying for a mistake they made? She gave me the seamstress name and number and told me to call her and maybe she could work something out with me. Needless to say I did not call her. I ended up taking my dress to an alterations place and had to pay 110.00 to fix it. I will never go to Alfred Angelo and will not refer any of my friends to this place. They have no customer service whatsoever nor do they care about their clients.
3 Times Can't be wrong!!
I have been to the Baton Rouge store twice in the passed two months. The first time I went was a Saturday after I had the worst morning of my life ever at Pearls Place in New Orleans. I absolutely had NO appointment. I knew they were busy and I waited with my cousin who brought me for an hour and a half. When I finally did get someone she was the most attentive person I could have dreamed of. I think her name was Carolynn, can't remember exactly and I feel terrible I don't. She was extremely patient with me and helped me in and out of every dress. If they DIDN'T have a dress shown in the catalog she would pull a dress of the exact same style and have me try it on.
I went back again for my second visit with most of my bridesmaids and the girl that had helped me the first time came in that day, on her off day, and helped me and my bridesmaids try on dress. They have such patience with me and I return that favor.
My last visit was at the store in Orlando on May 18, 2013, to show my mother the dresses I was interested in. I had an appointment for 12 but had to wait a few minutes because they were insanely busy. If you don't take the initiative to walk up and talk to someone how are they to know who you are and what you are there for? So I walked up to the counter and asked someone and they told me they had a few workers call out for the day and would have me set up with someone as soon as they could. I waited about 20 minutes but that was fine for me because I understand that these are human beings too! Not robots there just to put dresses on me and cater to me alone.
Patience and a good attitude gets a long way and maybe some customers should have one when they go in, instead of throwing a fit because the workers there didn't bow down to you. Your bad mood/attitude rubs off on other people even if you yourself do not realize it.
I had three wonderful experiences, yes I had to wait, but I know what I want so I don't mind.
My mother has purchased my dress from the Orland store since she receives a discount and is having it sent to me over here. I intend on purchasing my bridesmaid dresses from here as well. I can't say too much about alterations because I haven't gotten mine yet. Will review again when I do.
