Over a 3 month period in 2022 I required extensive legal support from the Conveyancing, Wills and Trusts, and Family departments of Aberdein Considine, in each case they performed urgently and to the highest professional standards. I am very grateful to all of their excellent team.

After many years of relying on Russell & Aitken I was rather disconcerted to learn that the business had amalgamated with the larger Aberdein Considine.
I was somewhat relieved to learn however that there was continuity by way of Dianne Paterson, Lynda Gibb and Liz Banks, on reception.
Our property sale was handled seamlessly by the former familiars in the manner had come to expect from past experiences with R. & A.

Barclays used Ra Direct, a subsidiary of AC, as conveyancing solicitors for a remortgage of my property. After a letter from them in early October, I responded with all the required documents within 2 days. After this point I hear absolutely nothing, and each time I followed up I was given different information. Firstly I was told they were waiting to receive a redemption statement from my previous provider before completing. When I called a week later for an update, I was told that they were still to request the redemption statement but would now escalate! After all of this, a completion date was stated for 1st of December, with a number of documents sent to us late on that date. I followed up several days later to chase funds that I require for my house purchase and was told "Barclays didn't have sufficient notice to complete, so this has been rescheduled for the 9th". I now have zero faith that this will happen, and my house purchase is being held up by these delays. I'm also having to now pay standard variable rates on my previous mortgage which have increased my payments by 50%! I'll be contacting Barclays to raise a formal complaint: apparently a number of banks have already taken AC off their preferred suppliers list.

I dealt with Chris Grant in arranging my mortgage and protection for my first home. Chris was very informative and quick on hand to settle any questions or concerns I raised.

Having a limited timeframe to get arrangements in place was absolutely key and pivotal to securing the property. Both Chris and his administrator Noreen were very helpful and proactive in ensuring everything was achieved within a small timeframe.

They were also able to utilise their rapport and relationship with the lender to ensure everything was ready to go with breathing space to spare.

I would highly recommend using Chris from AC to anyone looking for a very comprehensive mortgage advisor and painless experience.

This was our second time buying/selling with Aberdein Considine and can't thank them enough. The Lothian Road branch in particular have been fantastic. They gave us good, solid advice during the recent turbulent months of the property market, whilst also being understanding and supportive throughout. I feel like i've spoken to almost everyone in the office, and they've always been happy to help! Becky and Alana in particular have been excellent.

Not a very good experience:
-scarce communication (selling/buying solicitor was either away or did not return calls). We would phone and email and only get a reply if chasing them.

The process of selling and buying with AC was extremely stressful:
-we signed documents at 17:15 on the day we got keys.
-our selling/buying solicitor passed the 'last minute' blame on our buyers, from whom we learnt that they did not know of any issues on their part.

It is a great shame we had experience this, as the firm was recommended to us. We hoped to receiving advice, and guidance on the process of selling and buying a new home. However, this dealing with AC has left us worrying about the things that may have been missed that we are not aware of.
