Merely confirming the abysmal WSJ policies regarding cancellation.
First phone call, a hold time of over 30 minutes was announced.
Second phone call, on hold 25 minutes and 10 minutes of attempts to try to get me to not cancel.
What a scam. Just the aggravation of attempts to cancel is reason to never re subscribe.

It's idiotic that one cannot cancel online. I was on hold for nearly an hour and never got anyone on the line.

I found a tip that if one changed one's billing address to a California address, the option to cancel online would appear (per CA law) . Even with this option, there was still 5 or 6 times that cancel confirmation was requested.

This was such a pain. I will never return.

CANCELING DIGITAL SUBSCIPTION IN PROTEST OF TRUMP'S 10/27/21 LETTER TO EDITOR STYMIED

1) You can only call -- no emails accepted

2) When you call, after selecting "Cancel Subscription" option, you get transferred to a Voice-over-IP (Internet) line where sound is so garbled it sounds under water.

3) Waited 15 min for Rep, who I could barely hear because of the VOIP connection.

4) After 5 minutes of giving my name and additional unintelligible back-and-forth, I FINALLY got a "yes" to my repeated question "Am I unsubscribed?"

5) I asked that my cancellation reason (Trump's LTE > WSJ credibility) be passed onto management, but have no faith this will be done.

5) Fortunately, I got an email confirmation of my cancellation ... and have this Yelp opportunity to add my voice to others' re apparent incompetence.

BTW: I signed up for Digital to get one particle article. Despite my subscription, I was only able to display the 1st paragraph of this piece. I was then subjected to their inane Help-bot (Membership Virtual Assistant) that initially terminated due to a "technical issue", then repeatedly directed me to rephrase my issue, then finally sent my issue to their "email center" to respond next day.

Aaargh! Is anybody in charge here?

Same as many others, frustrated by the lack of a simple unsubscribe option. How can this be? I will fight for a refund via my credit card company.

Edit: Also the contact number for Australia is invalid, so I can't even phone to cancel!

I can't remember the last time I was not allowed to cancel a subscription online and had to call customer service (that isn't 24/7 by the way) to do so. Never renewing with them after this.

My husband was required by a class to sign up for two months. Of course he missed the fine print where they charge nearly 40 per month automatically. I thought he had to pay it for school... he was so busy he wasn't following the credit card. 700 dollars in... he never used the "service" and they refuse to refund the money. This is bad business... unethical and greedy. I will NEVER look at this company with any respect.

Absolutely shocking that you can't cancel your subscription online. Tip to anyone with the same problem: change your billing address to a California address and you're able to cancel online.

Seriously, why!? I will paste their email below (after I tried calling when I had time... and they were closed and then emailed). You cannot remove your credit card, or turn off auto-pay. You have to call them. What about people who are mute? I mean, seriously!!

"We do not accept cancellations by mail, email or by any means other than calling Customer Service. In order to cancel your subscription, please contact Customer Service at 1-800-568-7625. Our convenient hours of operation are below. If you purchased your subscription through a third party, please contact them directly."

There are prejudices about Wall Street being greedy and unethical. Well meet WSJ that doesn't let you unsubscribe. It's so unnecessary complicated and hard there is even a wikihow! page on how to do it. Of course subscribing is really easy. There is a word for this kind of behaviour: it's theft.

Delivery Concern
I have spent two weeks attempting to fix a delivery issue with changing my address. At my previous address never had an issue. Customer service sends the exact same template emails to all of my concerns. Problem has been "escalated" for 10 days now. Not rocket science, just paper delivery.

For the majority of users, you must call them to cancel. That's a very outdated way to do things, and incredibly unethical. Their news material isn't too bad, but they deserve poor ratings from their cancelation policy alone. As of this review, there are only 4 states where their cancelation policy is different.

Overall, I think the paper is professional.
However, I don’t like their online format now — I used to be able to look up Kimberly Strassels articles or other opinion pieces but now they are impossible to find.
Why this is - I’m wondering …

As a foreign person not living in USA or having a citizenship from this country, I feel WSJ customer service as outrageous, backward thinking and simply abusive. I thought they were up to international standards of care for the customer but the mandatory process of calling by phone during fixed working hours to a call center in Europe to cancel my online subscription is simply unbelievable. No online canceling option in 2021, I have spent my precious time figuring out how to cancel this crap. Completely disappointed, and will told all and anyone of the people that i know who will like to get any online subscription to not get WSJ membership online ever! I can not believe I am still a subject to the same stupidity than other Americans.

I am so fed up with these people. Its very easy to sign on, its proving impossible to cancel the online subscription.

We're in 2021 and you still need to call the phone like a goddamn troglodyte in order to cancel the subscription.

Total scam. I'm so disappointed. I signed up and found I didn't like the content or read it, and the customer portal has no links to unsubscribe. The number from Australia is answered by a robot and no one ever picks up. It's a waste of my money and terrible customer service. I will be contacting the ACCC in Australia for advice on breaches to Australian fair practices and trade laws.

Absolute terrible customer service. Called 5 times with delivery issues. Issues never resolved , even went to a supervisor that spent 30 minutes taking details of delivery issues. Of course nothing ever resulted. What a complete joke of a newspaper. How they remain in business is truly remarkable. When I canceled they didn’t even care for a reason. Makes you wonder!
