Un plugin qui 'oblige' d'acheter des pack de crédit de traduction automatique pour qu'il puisse fonctionner, alors que je veux donner ce travail à faire à des pros humains, et ce plugin est créé pour ça à la base mais dérive à une obligation d'achat pour traduire par leur IA...
Une vraie catastrophe à chaque mise à jour depuis 2 ans!
Support technique effectué par l'IA qui ne répond pas aux questions et ramène aux 'solutions' qui ne fonctionnent pas...
Site créé avec Elementor Pro en 3 langues qui sera certainement à refaire entièrement...Youpie

Horrible service, I have been working with WPML for years. Rude support, they let you wait, and some disappear for days. The management is no better, reflecting what the company's vision is for its paying customers.
WPML asks for access but doesn't even look at the backend. After days of waiting, request your complete database on horrible terms, as if it were the most normal thing to transfer a commercial website's database, and with no responsibility for WML. Knowing what I know now, I would look elsewhere.

I recommend anyone looking to buy WPML to follow this support ticket on the WPML website:

I am horrified to see the response from WPML (this is an old issue they should have fixed a long time ago).

J’utilise WPML sur un site multilingue professionnel avec WooCommerce et Elementor. Et franchement, je n’ai jamais vu une extension aussi compliquée pour faire des choses aussi simples.

La gestion des menus multilingues est un cauchemar : les menus changent de langue sans raison, les éléments se désynchronisent, les pages basculent dans la mauvaise version linguistique, et même les options de réglage avancé comme “Translate texts in admin screens” disparaissent selon la version.

Ce plugin semble figé dans les années 2010, alors que des solutions modernes (comme Weglot ou TranslatePress) font ça en un clic. À l’heure de l’IA, WPML est lent, opaque, et anti-ergonomique.

Un conseil : à moins d’avoir une équipe de développeurs, fuyez. On devrait être payé pour utiliser WPML, pas l’inverse.

The most difficult and outdated module I’ve ever dealt with. It drained a lot of my energy and patience. I even bought it a second time, hoping I could finally manage it… In the end, I requested a refund and I would never recommend it to anyone. It’s absolutely terrible, overpriced, and on top of that, it’s not even a lifetime license—just one year. I do not recommend it. I switched to Polylang and finally felt relieved.

HI, this plugin can do very complex things! I needed a bit to get used to it, but once I did I saw it can do very amazing things. Thanks!

We use WPML on a WooCommerce site and discovered that it’s responsible for more than 50% of the total autoloaded data in our database. One option alone (wp_installer_settings) autoloads over 100 KB, even though it only contains installer-related metadata — something that should not be loaded on every page request.

Despite raising this with support, we received:
- A plugin workaround that had no measurable effect
- Requests for full site access, which raises legal/privacy concerns
- No clear answer as to why these values are autoloaded or what WPML considers “normal” size

We also asked for specific guidance or safe filters to prevent non-essential data from autoloading — no solution was provided. Other multilingual plugins like TranslatePress or Polylang don’t use autoload this aggressively, which makes this feel more like a design flaw than an edge case.

Until WPML improves its handling of database load — or gives users tools to manage it — we can’t recommend it. Performance and transparency need to be taken more seriously.

Das Programm hat extrem viele Fehler, es gibt Seiten die sich nicht veröffentlichen lassen, ständig springt der Cursor bei Änderungen um, man löscht etwas und es erschein von neuem - kurz ein absolutes Desaster.

Avoid WPML for Translations – Unreliable and Full of Errors!!!
I regret using WPML for website translations. As someone who speaks six languages fluently, I can confidently say that this plugin is not worth the money. The translations are riddled with grammatical errors, awkward sentence structures, and outright mistranslations that make the content look unprofessional and confusing to users.

Even free tools like Google Translate or AI-driven translation services do a far better job in terms of accuracy and readability. WPML claims to support multiple languages, but in reality, the results are inconsistent, often requiring extensive manual corrections—which defeats the purpose of having an automated translation plugin in the first place.

On top of that, WPML has been known to override professionally translated content without warning, which can be disastrous if you've invested time and money into high-quality human translations. The user interface is also clunky, and the plugin tends to slow down websites, causing performance issues.

Unless you want to spend hours fixing bad translations and dealing with technical issues, I strongly advise against using WPML. There are far better alternatives out there that provide higher accuracy and a more user-friendly experience.

L'enfer sur terre ce plugin, pourtant je lui ai donné sa chance deux fois...

- Service client ultra lent et très peu efficace...
- Extensions ralentissant énormément le site comparé à la concurrence, sans aucune comparaison possible
- Gestion des traductions automatique très laborieuse... Une usine à gaz de paramètre plus incompréhensible les uns que les autres
- Gestion des Taxonomies chaotique...

Bref, Y'a bien mieux et largement plus efficace et léger sur le marché !

The first time i was purchased the WPML Plugin it was at Feb 2020 and it was the best solution for me to translate my first website.

Today, after 5 years, i think this is still the best for translation of WordPress sites and it provides to me the correct tools to make the best translation and with 100% success!...so i can't understand some other ratings here with 1 and 2 stars.

WPML hat Schwierigkeiten bei/mit der Übersetzung vieler Plugins; beispielsweise wird Mailpoet überhaupt nicht unterstützt und bei Anfragen erhält man lediglich Hinweise auf minderwertige Alternativen.
Bei WooCommerce gestaltet sich die Situation ähnlich: Unabhängig von der Anfrage verweist man stets an die Programmierer von WooCommerce selbst; beispielsweise besteht keine Möglichkeit zur Einrichtung einer zweiten Mehrwertsteuer für eine alternative Sprache.
Die hauseigene Bearbeitungsoberfläche erweist sich als unzureichend und fehlerhaft, wer darauf verzichten möchte, erhält den Hinweis, dass die Übersetzung ohne Verknüpfung zum Original gespeichert wird.
Zwar ist es möglich Texte zu übersetzen – jedoch auch hier treten Probleme auf – was ebenfalls mit kostenlosen Plugins realisierbar ist.

Aufgrund des Umstands, dass ich einen Großteil der Arbeiten eigenständig erledigen muss, werde ich auf die wenigen Fahnen im Header und Footer verzichten; dieses System werde ich entfernen aufgrund des damit verbundenen Zeit- und Kostenaufwands.

Plugin extrèmement compliqué, avec des centaines d'options partout, mal maintenu, avec des bugs réguliers, et un support lent et inapproprié.

After installation, I made some settings adjustments and noticed flags appearing in the Pages section. This allows you to create a page based on a specific language. But that's where the problems begin.

For translating texts, you need to pay extra. You’re prompted to make a purchase for a certain amount, but I’m not willing to do that. It doesn’t feel reliable or controllable. Additionally, you need to download multiple plugins, making it a completely confusing setup. Why not offer everything in a single plugin?

Moreover, it’s a complicated system. Categories don’t get translated, so they simply don’t appear. The worst part is how terribly slow the application makes the website.

I’ve now removed WPML from my website and decided to create a separate website for each important language. This way, I can maintain my website’s speed.

While uninstalling WPML, I discovered that it had created a language version for every product, photo, and category. It’s awful, and I’ve spent days trying to clean up my site.

I do not recommend WPML. It’s a complete nightmare, and it significantly slows down your website.

It’s a shame about the money too—I think I spent around $300. It feels like wasted money.

Fonctionne parfaitement sur plusieurs sites.

Muy buena experiencia. Paola de soporte es una crack y me ha ayudado muchísimo.

Las traducciones se revierten solas al idioma original teniendo que hacer trabajo doble en la mayoría de las ocasiones. Tenemos una web en 5 idiomas y mínimo 2 veces al año tengo que volver a traducir las páginas a los 5 idiomas ya que se cambian solas al original.
De los peores plugins con lo que he trabajado, y además no tiene versión free. Mucho mejor GTranslate.
