Our management referral service provides employers with independent occupational health advice to support lawful, fair, and defensible management of health-related issues in the workplace. The service comprises a consultation with an occupational health physician and a written report addressing relevant medical and functional considerations. A management referral supports employers in meeting their legal obligations by providing: Independent medical evidence to inform objective and consistent decision-making Professional advice on an employee’s fitness for work and any functional limitations relevant to their role Guidance on reasonable adjustments, supporting compliance with employment and equality legislation Advice on whether a health condition may meet the legal definition of a disability under the Equality Act Consideration of health and safety duties, including identification and management of workplace risk Clear written documentation demonstrating that appropriate medical advice has been obtained and considered, which may be relied upon in the context of HR processes, grievances, tribunal claims, or other legal proceedings The purpose of the service is to assist employers in ensuring that decisions are proportionate, evidence-based, and legally compliant, while appropriately balancing the rights and wellbeing of the employee with organizational requirements.

Amazing Service

We have worked with The Work Doctor for some time now as part of our occupational health delivery at Global Occupational Health Solutions, and the service has consistently been excellent.

They are extremely responsive, reliable and highly professional. Turnaround times are strong, communication is clear, and the clinical quality of reports and advice is of a very high standard. Even when we approach them with complex or slightly “out of the ordinary” requests (which is often the nature of occupational health), they are pragmatic, solutions-focused and supportive.

What we particularly value is the balance between sound medical judgement and commercial awareness. The advice provided is evidence-based, proportionate and clearly reasoned — which is essential when supporting employers and employees in sensitive situations.
