Beware Wellington Legacy Capital if you value your savings
A Wellington representative named Freddy Rodriguez called me a number of times and promised extraordinary help with a previous scam (trading futures contracts) that I was a victim of, if I opened a $10,000 account with him. He said his firm's recovery services would be free because they had prosecuted the same scam and firm before, and also had an in-house legal department which would use similar forms on my behalf. Two weeks later, they said they needed $10,000 (down from a $69,000 initial request) to process the case. I paid because they said they were going after my previous firm account's high water mark of $549,000. Mr Rodriguez also said I would have to deposit another $10,000 if I wanted to have him keep compounding my gold futures contracts which were growing fast. He said this would be the last dime he would ever ask me to send. Indeed gold was moving up so fast that at that time, my $20,000 futures investment grew to In excess of $550,000 in value. Not wanting to have such a significant portion of my wealth in volatile futures, I said I wanted to take a distribution as soon as possible. I was told I could not until I was with the firm at least 6 months. Because Freddy continued to ask for more money and me declining, he said he had to delegate my account over to Kevin Gillette, a so called, highly respected trader at Wellington. He immediately said I had to sent another $19,400 or my equity would be put into dormant status and I would risk losing it all as my account had to be active for me to ever hope to receive my equity back. He bought new gold futures contracts having a very high strike price (they insisted on descretionary trading authority), and my account's value rapidly went down from $550,000 to $305,000. Right after him purchasing the new contracts, my account was turned back to Freddy Rodriguez who said I owed a $18,500 commission on that purchase which had to be paid or I would lose my account's value. I did so because of their intial success, My account went down in value fast because gold's long and historical run was over. I had to call Mr Rodriguez to not let my account go below $300,000 in value, them not otherwise concerned . Their web site showed my account did go below $300,000 in value but Freddy said their web site was wrong and my accounts value was restored to around $305,450 in value where it stands today, September 26, 2026. .Since that close out trade in March, I have been trying to receive all of that equity. But ever since, Mr. Rodriguez as described one and then another, and then another "final" payment that I was required to pay before receiving the distribution . These added hurdles ( called lengthening the goal posts) kept coming , them knowing that no one wants to give up $305,000 over another $$5,000 to $10,000 payment. I went along with this for a while, Freddy giving his "word as a man" a couple of times that this would be the last such request. Finally after sending them at least $90,000 in payments ranging from $5,000 to $19,400 apiece, I said I did not believe them anymore. The $10,000 I sent them for their legal services early on was followed by another request of $9987 for court costs, but the case number I insisted on receiving did not reference into a valid file at that Court, so I did not make that payment. In summation, Wellington will have no remorse over lying to you to get more of your money and then telling you of yet, another payment requirement. They seem to think lying and steeling is a valid occupation. If you live in the U.S., let my lesson direct you away from any firm not registered under a U.S. oversight agency such as the Chicago Board of Trade.
