Buyer Beware
Buyer Beware - I purchased a real estate website package and 3 years of hosting services from Website Tunnel for approximately $1,099 total ($349 website design + $750 hosting/back-end access through 2028).
After approximately one year of service, I received emails claiming my website was “non-compliant” with ADA/WCAG standards and implying that action was required to maintain operation of my website.
I was then pressured to pay an additional $1,499 for ADA compliance services.
When I questioned the requirement and asked where in my agreement this was mandatory, the company changed its wording and stated the ADA service was only “advisory.”
Shortly thereafter, my website became restricted/inaccessible despite being fully paid through the hosting term.
The company later claimed they had “fully restored” access after implementing ADA/WCAG and security enhancements, but my website still remained restricted when I checked it.
Additional concerns:
The company website redirects to another company website under a different name - ValuedWebDesigners.com
There is limited transparency regarding ownership and management.
The communications used technical language and pressure tactics that I believe were intended to push unnecessary services.
I am requesting this complaint be documented to warn other consumers and to request accountability regarding service interruption and misleading business practices. Basically they are strong arming peeople to keep paying money after the fact and holding the website hostage. If you don't agree to pay the high amount they ask for, they disable the website. Now I've paid money with a contract and they've breached it and kept my money that I paid. I had to have another website made with someone else.
