Very poor customer service!

Order a divorced certificate on 12/29/22 got a no record certificate on 3/28/2024 due to then placing my birthday as event day don't wasted your money on nonsense unprofessional site go to courthouse

My child managed to graduate from Highschool in the time that it took for someone from this crap place to get around to answering the fricken phone

Terrible service! I paid $63.25 for a marriage cert. Ordered 3/1/24. Never arrived. Waited as instructed, then went to link which directs to website.
Inserted order # and Pin, and just get routed to their main webpage. Go to support they say it's been processed. Had to search through multiple pages for a phone #. You can't get a meaningful answer when you report your order never arrived. I now have to wait til a weekday to get a human being on the phone. What a waste!

I ordered a long form birth certificate February 2023 in order to get a passport for a planned trip July 2023. I paid $68.50 and expected delivery date was within 6 months. Since that would not allow enough time I reached out to the county clerk from the county I was born in. She was very helpful, found my records and mailed a long form birth certificate within 1 week. On the other hand, this website VitalChek was a complete fraud. I just received a letter from them ONE YEAR later that “they” searched over a two year span and show no record of my birth,… along with no refund due. Do NOT use this website!!!

Scammed my 76+ mom. She was trying to get a copy of her brother’s death certificate. They kept her money and called HER a fraud. Told her they couldn’t honor her notarized request? What?! These are NOT good people. She lost money she couldn’t afford to lose. Awful and disgusting.

Ordered death certs in early Nov 2023, submitted requested documentation and got a "documents approved" email a few days later, then.... nothing. Called several times, each time getting a different answer and a promise for a call back that never happens. Today is Jan 26 2024, called and got a robo-operator to confirm the order was cancelled. No reason, just cancelled. Verified with the website as I never got to talk to a human being. Checked my credit card, have a refund for $100. I was charged $115, which includes a $15 service charge. I realize it's only $15, but being charged for completely screwing up my order ticks me off. Never did get to a human so I gave up..
I thought the government was good at screwing things up. These people are the champs. They should be running the post office and dmv.

Going for an LA County Birth Certificate. They conceal the fact that they charge a fee of $27.50 until after you complete all of your information. You have to print out and complete the exact same mail-in form so the only value of that fee is that I don't need to stamp an envelope. I still have to print and notarize a document. What a joke.

I began filling out an application to receive a new birth certificate after I thought that I lost mine. I was on the last page and had filled everything out but had not submitted the application. I closed the page and decided to wait and see if I could find it. I did eventually find it, and decided not to submit my application. They still charged me even though I didn't submit the application and refused to give me a refund after I called them.

I never received my birth certificate, so I looked up Order Status on VitalChek's website and it stated that my order was canceled. They were initially charging me $38, but then showed that they kept $6 for the cancellation. I have no idea why my birth certificate order was canceled and why they kept $6. I still plan on running through my bank statements to see if the initial $38 was charged to my credit card. I would not trust this organization to get a copy of your birth certificate.

If I could give VitalChek negative stars, I would. My attempt to obtain a California birth certificate turned into an absurd carousel of incompetence and blatant deceit. Not once, not twice, but thrice, my orders were unceremoniously cancelled for reasons that can only be described as farcical. Each cancellation was a masterstroke in bureaucratic nonsense, leaving me bewildered and without the document I urgently needed.

But it's not just the inefficiency that grates; it's the brazen financial exploitation. Each cancellation was accompanied by a fee - a clear indication that VitalChek’s business model thrives on customer misery. It's as if they are orchestrating these cancellations to extract every penny from customers under the guise of administrative errors.

Their customer service is an oxymoron – there's no service to speak of. Responses are robotic, unhelpful, and frustratingly circular, leading nowhere but back to square one. It's a loop of despair, where you're made to feel like a mere pawn in their moneymaking scheme.

VitalChek's practices aren't just unethical; they border on scam. They exploit the necessity of vital documents to run what seems like a well-oiled machine of deception. Their lack of transparency, hidden fees, and a seemingly deliberate ploy to prolong processes is nothing short of scandalous.

I implore anyone needing vital records to steer clear of VitalChek. There are surely better, more honest services out there that respect their customers and understand the importance of these critical documents. VitalChek is not one of them. They are a textbook example of how a service should not be run, treating essential documents and their customers with utter disdain.

I placed an order for a Birth certificate in April. I was told I would receive it in mid November. I thought that time frame was crazy but had no other choices. Then when it did not come when it said it would I called the number. I sat on hold for 10 minutes finally hung up. Sent email! I was told it was delayed bc they were behind on their end. All of the testimonials I read on website said how fast everyone received their documents. Literally days or weeks. I have waited way too long. Most places would refund your money or at least a discount. They would do something to make it right. I was told they were sorry for the inconvenience. By the time I actually receive it it will be over 8 months I have waited. Totally unacceptable!

I had literally had the best experience with this service. I placed my order only 3 days ago and I received my birth certificate yesterday. When it said that the estimated day was 2 Days later I thought that was entirely unrealistic. And I honestly I was kind of worried after seeing other reviews, but then I received my birth certificate literally two days later and on schedule. I would recommend this to anyone :-)

Initiated request August 3rd, and didn't get a completion notification until Oct.11th (over 2mo), repeatedly told it was pending, and that further Documents were needed. Initially, was directed to send in Driver's License. A couple of months later I was told I needed to send in Birth Certificate???? Never directed to what other Documents. Phone calls made to Vital Check were NOT helpful and women that answered was VERY DISRESPECTFUL. Difficulty sending faxes, uploading documents to site. Obtaining my Father's Death Certificate was far MORE STRESSUL than it should have EVER been. All the delay caused my having to start ALL OVER regarding my Father's Estate in Oklahoma. Should NEVER take this long to obtain a Family Death Certificate.

This company refuses to refund my money even though the records were never received.

I tried to order a marriage certificate from Wayne County, Michigan. The VitalChek online form required me to disclose my relationship to the married couple (my grandparents), but the entry box had a drop down menu that did not include and would not accept "grandchild".
So I called a VitalChek representative. She tried to complete the form on her in-house computer but had the same problem. We both gave up.
I called the Michigan Vital Records Department in Lansing. They told me Michigan marriage records are public records, I don't need to be related and I don't need to supply any documents. They took my order over the phone and immediately sent me the certificate.
VitalChek then charged me $12.95 for their fee and insisted by email that I submit additional documents to complete the order, but they would not tell me what documents.
I complained to VitalChek that their instructions were wrong and they charged me for a service they did not provide. I requested a refund of my $12.95. They have not refunded it, but continue to send me email demands for full payment of the $63.00 certificate fee.
Now when I call VitalChek, I get put on indefinite hold, with a recorded warning saying "We are experiencing high volumes and extremely long delays. Try calling at a later time."
A rip-off, I'd say.

Requested a Divorce Decree since May 2023. I received a letter in June stating from 140-150 days. They issue an Order Date and Pin, which when you go to their site was useless because it did not accept my phone numbers. I have now spent almost an hour and half to speak to someone, who then transferred me. My pension is being held up due to this situation. I have a copy but doesn't have a state seal. Which is why I am waiting for Vitalcheck to send new one. I am now on hold for 27 more minutes waiting to see if someone can help somewhere if I give them the index No of certificate and dates.

An update:
Like I said before, vital check refused to use my U.S. Embassy stamped sworn statement. Said the name was not the same. Then told me it can not be read clearly. Though they didn't say what exactly was not clear. Then they said that the county from where I need to get my birth cert. was very strict. It seemed like they were just reading off a script and not looking at my actual documents. Keep in mind that I started the process/order with this company July 1st.
Were they lying to me? I will never know. I contacted said 'very strict county recorder', sent them my sworn statement and the birth cert. was placed in the mail with in 6 hours from the time of order. They even sent me a personal email with the tracking number and wished me a nice day.
Don't waist your time or money with Vital chek. Contact your county recorder directly. Much easier. Less stress and hassle.

Constantly denies request for birth certificate even w all required documents being sent. Doesn’t tell you why it’s being denied but will charge your card immediately. This feels like a scam in every sense of the word.

Complete scam. They give you a list of acceptable documents to prove who you are, once you send the docs to them they deny them. The company will not notify you that they're denied either. You have to call them and wait on hold for hours at a time. I've sent documents from state agencies and they still deny them. They don't call you, update you, or return calls when you finally speak to someone. They're quick to take your money, but don't expect to get what you paid for OR ever hear from them again. I've been waiting on a birth certificate for over a year. It's been paid for, all proof has been provided, I've never received the doc. Now their website doesn't even show my order. Save yourself some time and money and don't use this company. At least look at their BBB rating before you give them any info. 100% scam.
