My recent experience of buying a Defender 90 was with one individual at Land Rover Guiseley, Gerard Jones. Unlike so many car salespeople he was not pushy or "clever" he just did his job and went the extra mile to get me what I wanted. Communication was excellent and all my dealings with the dealership were excellent.

I find it a rarity nowadays to come across old fashioned sincere customer service, but I have recently experienced that phenomena at Vertu Landover in Guiseley.

I have just taken delivery of a new Discovery Sport and was guided through the procedure by the team up at Guiseley. I had an initial problem with the car specification, but they rectified this with ease, efficiently and great professionalism; nothing was a problem for them, their only aim was to make sure I was a satisfied customer. The guys up there were exceptional in their understanding, their patience and their overall caring approach.

Many thanks to Emma, Dan and Mike, and special thanks to Adam Gray who helped me through the whole process with a mild-mannered approach, an eagerness to please, and a professional thoroughness.

Well done! I thought customer service was becoming an amorphic cloud of Chat Bots and Ai, thank goodness there are still real people left!

Gerard Jones, your Sales Executive who dealt with me was excellent. He was friendly and courteous. He explained all aspects of the sale well, and never rushed us.

He was knowledgeable, in particular, in going through the IT side of the new Discovery Sport, which was markedly different to my previous car. At one point when he was unsure how my Android phone needed to be fully synced, he solved our impasse by asking a colleague with an Android to do that part for us, so I was fully set up.

Altogether, he will have spent over 4 hours with us over our two visits to Vertu Motors in Guiseley

From start to finish with Gerard our sales man at Guiseley West Yorkshire. We were very happy with the service he provided us. He made us feel very special and never put any pressure on us to buy. You just felt like he wanted the best for us. He a got back to us straight away when we had any questions or niggles.

When entering the building everyone is so nice and welcoming towards you, it's a very pleasurable experience looking round the showroom. Upon collection of the vehicle i felt like royalty and you just know they really care about you. All of the sales staff are very warm and friendly. We was more than happy with Gerard, you just know he has got your back and wants you to be happy. Great guy, great business, great service.

We booked our two-year-old Evoque (only ~7,000 miles) in for a routine service with Vertu and the experience was massively disappointing.

Unnecessary upselling
They tried to sell my wife over £300 of completely unnecessary work – wheel alignment (tyre wear is not unreasonably different), new wipers (ours are fine), and an air-con flush. Felt like pure upsell rather than honest advice.

Warranty issue ignored
When we collected the car, they flagged a leak in the windscreen washer bottle and asked if we wanted it fixing. It’s a warranty item… so why wasn’t it done during the service? Now we have to bring the car back again.

No clean provided
They didn’t wash or clean the car, blaming the hosepipe ban. A basic vacuum and a bucket-wash would have been easy, and the clean is supposed to be included. Felt like cost-cutting.

Pointless check-in system
Their self check-in/checkout system is unnecessary and doesn’t work properly. You still end up needing to find someone because no one is at the desk.

Overall, for a premium brand, this was a really poor experience. It felt like they just wanted our money and delivered the bare minimum in return.

Update: email sent to Vertu. I look forward to their response as a read of customer reviews on Trustpilot and employee reviews on Indeed and Glassdoor indicate other people have experienced unnecessary upskills and this is a common practise at Vertu

Have recently bought a used LR Discovery Sport through Vertu Guiseley. From initial enquiry, to test drive to purchase - Louise provided great customer service, was friendly and helpful throughout, and enabled us to complete our purchase in a totally stress-free way. Thank you, Louise!

I very rarely leave poor reviews, but our experience with this dealership has been simply horrific — verging on insulting to our intelligence.

We initially visited the local Land Rover garage because of a significant leak from the windscreen, which flooded the footwell — a well-known problem with these vehicles. When we tried to book the car in, we were told we’d need to pay a diagnostic fee, even though the issue was clearly visible (you could lift the windscreen and see the missing sealant). After some discussion, they agreed to book it in without the fee — fair enough.

The dealership had the vehicle for nearly eight weeks due to “parts being out of stock,” despite claiming they had never encountered this issue before. Anyone familiar with Land Rover or Jaguar knows this has been a recurring issue for years. During those eight weeks, we were never updated. My wife had to call repeatedly to chase progress, and we had to manage without our second car for most of that time — not easy with two young children under four.

When the car was finally returned, we immediately noticed the heads-up display was no longer working properly. Despite cleaning the screen thoroughly, all that could be seen was a blurred smudge rather than the clear display we’d always had. We contacted the dealership straight away and were told, “Bring it down whenever, and we’ll take a look.”

Due to the inconvenience we’d already suffered, it was several weeks before we could return. When we called to arrange the visit, we were again told we’d need to pay a diagnostic fee. After further discussion, they agreed to inspect it and only charge us if the fault was unrelated to the windscreen replacement.

When speaking with a manager, it was clear the intent was to deflect any responsibility before even seeing the vehicle. We were told, unbelievably, that “these displays can just degrade over time.” According to them, the heads-up display on a four-year-old Jaguar I-Pace “just degrades.” That is absurd.

We have now been informed that the windscreen glass has “crystallised” and needs to be replaced at a cost of over £2,000. Glass does not simply “crystallise.” It’s evident that a contaminant or fault during the replacement caused the issue — the screen was crystal clear before the work, and immediately afterwards it wasn’t. Suggesting that glass spontaneously changes its properties is frankly an insult to our intelligence.

While I appreciate the windscreen replacement was done under goodwill, that goodwill means very little if it results in further damage and a costly repair. The dealership will have already been paid by Land Rover/Jaguar for the original work — a job that addressed a known manufacturing defect — and now seems unwilling to accept the consequences of their own workmanship.

My advice: avoid this dealership at all costs. The entire experience has been stressful, time-consuming, and disappointing. I’ve owned numerous Land Rovers over the years — from Defenders to Range Rovers — and this is by far the worst service I’ve ever encountered. Here, the customer is wrong until proven right.

From start to finish, I dealt with Gerard Jones at the Guiseley branch and he has been nothing short of exceptional. He kept me updated at every stage, worked around my schedule so I could collect the car when worked for me, and made the switch from being a lifelong Mercedes owner to driving a brand-new Range Rover completely seamless. Gerard took the time to understand what I wanted and what would genuinely work for me, and his attention to detail and customer care are a real credit to Vertu. I would highly recommend Gerard and the team at Guiseley — I will certainly be returning to them in the future.

A great experience from end to end. From the first phone call making an enquiry to finally driving away with my new Range Rover, the experience was one of professionalism. The service from all departments was timely and smooth. After spending many months looking for a new car, I narrowed it down to two from different dealers. Vertu sales process was very efficient and professional. I initially was looked after by Dan Marzetti who was clear with the information I needed and made the decision very easy. I was then looked after by Marie Charlton who was excellent and helped me through the handover of the car. The service was outstanding and I would definitely buy again from Vertu Guiseley.
