Ventus Energy is a crowdfunding platform that has raised €65.8 million from nearly 5,000 retail investors across Europe, promising up to 18% returns on green energy projects.

The CEO doctored documents. Ventus raised money to buy “their office building.” It was actually the headquarters of Crowdestor, a failed lending platform where 69% of loans are in recovery. The CEO edited the valuation PDF to paste “Ventus Energy” over “Crowdestor” before sending it to investors. He forgot to flatten the file. The edit history shows his name on every change.

The founder is selling his own assets to his own platform. Jānis Timma owns 65% of Ventus. He also owned the power plants Ventus is buying with investor money. One plant earned €88,000 last year. Ventus paid €6.36 million for it, roughly five times what it’s worth.

Investor money may not be going where they think. In one deal, Ventus announced a €10 million acquisition. But the sellers didn’t get cash, they got an IOU secured by a pledge on the asset. The €3 million raised from retail investors? The loan agreement allows it to be used for “fees and costs.” The fee amounts aren’t disclosed.

The company probably shouldn’t be allowed to do this at all. Ventus has no lending license, no crowdfunding authorization, and isn’t registered with any financial regulator. It has €4,166 in capital, zero employees, and is registered as a “web portal.” Estonian law requires authorization to take repayable funds from the public. Ventus claims an exemption, while publicly marketing to thousands of investors.

They paid influencers in equity. Seven P2P bloggers who review platforms like Ventus became shareholders. Five of them didn’t disclose this when recommending Ventus to their readers.

Die Ein-und Auszahlungen gehen sehr schnell, ich hatte eine Auszahlung morgens durchgeführt, die sogar am selben Tag noch auf meinem Konto eingegangen war. Meine Erfahrung hier am Anfang ist sehr positiv und ich empfehle es weiter.

Easy investment process and very transparent communication. Since inception no incident which was not solved within a couple of hours.

At first, I was really skeptical, since high interest rates usually imply high risk. However, with Ventus I can say that I have received all my interest payments DAILY, at the same time early in the morning, without any single exception (since many months). Withdrawals of interest to my bank account take just 1 day or even less.

The website is user-friendly, provides a clear overview, detailed information about each project and its performance, and whenever you have a question or issue, the team supports you quickly.

It is also important to mention that Ventus is not a “classic” P2P platform where loans are facilitated to different borrowers and the platform acts as a kind of marketplace. Instead, Ventus primarily offers investments in its own renewable energy projects (solar, wind, infrastructure).

Their results and their success over the past months speak for themselves, so I can just recommend you form your own option about it.

I already invest in Mintos, Esketit, PeerBerry, and Crowdestate, but I’ve been experiencing cash drag on some of these platforms. I found Ventus Energy through Aleks Bleck’s recommendation, and he convinced me that it is a good option for diversification, as it offers investments in power plants. If cash drag continues, I plan to transfer my uninvested balance to Ventus.

Since the Baltic region is connected to Finland, I believe I could invest even more in the future, especially if they offer projects in Finland.

Their Telegram group support is one of the best (maybe PeerBerry has a similar), and I like that the management team responds quickly and shares details about the business operations.

I am in crowdlending since over 15 years and I guess, I need to bring something in the right context.

People who compare here Ventus Energy (which generates revenue from selling heat, grid and from grid balancing!) with a third-partie-marketplace Crowdestor (generates revenues from fees from the lenders!) do not understand, that these are two totally different companies, with different business models, different staff, different CEO and so on.

The only crucial person who is involved in both companies is Janis Timma. Yes, projects on Crowdestors marketplace for third-partie-companies were high risk. But what have film projects, construction companies and so on (which are not the own one) to do with OWN energy projects like buying operational powerplants? Nothing.

Only the energy projects from Janis were the reliable on the platform, so it made totally sense to focus on the own projects, where they have the money management/ project management 100% in their own hand. Ventus Energy buys operational powerplants and develops energy projects.

The first successes are already existing. They overtook 2 operational powerplants (heat powerplant/ gas powerplant) and generates already a high 6-digit profit per month, from where they pay interest, liablities and so on.

I know some of their staff since 2019/2020 and visited all the energy projects (feb.2025) in person.

I just added a 6-digit fund and will increase till end of this year to 7-digit.

They celebrate so many success and are transparent at the same time. Everyone can visit them in person. So, don´t blame a company, cause you had bad experience on a "high risk marketplace".

Btw. withdrawls work for me (REVOLUT bank) within 24 hours, same as deposits.

Be aware, that your bank might recheck, if you make deposits in other countries and will may be alert you. This is an usual process from banks.

Btw. Ventus Energy was just some weeks ago on FORBES magazine.

The 18% interest are caused by Mezzazine loans, so this is not a "risk point", but a "benefit" for us as lenders.

All in all, for me everything fits here. LTV is low (good for safety), profit is high (18%+2% for investors over 100k), CEO is very communicative, company is transparent and I know projects/ staff in person, which of course also gives a much more comfortable feeling by investing.
