I rented a high-end GPU server (RTX 3090 Ti) on Vast.ai with strong specs and a price around $0.143/hour (~0.54 SAR/hour).

However, the service is practically unusable.

The main issue is SSH connection failure:
Authentication failed (publickey)

I did everything correctly:
- Generated a valid ED25519 key
- Added it to the platform
- Selected it in my SSH client
- Used the correct host, port, and username

Still, it fails.

Support response was extremely weak:
They only told me to check documentation, use -vvv debug, or try another instance.

No real help. No actual fix.

Other problems:
- SSH keys do not apply correctly to instances
- Some containers (like Jupyter images) are unclear or broken for SSH access
- The system forces manual debugging instead of working out of the box
- Copy/paste limitations make it worse on mobile
- Sent multiple emails — no proper response

Conclusion:
Strong hardware, but very poor system design and support.

Not recommended.

Great Support Team Service is get as well but be careful what server you choose sometime some are just not working. better connect with there support team can assist you well

The customer service is great and supportive. Long story short, I got locked out of my account due to a 3rd party flagging my number for suspicious activity when logging in using 2FA. They solved it within the week by manually disabling it for me. Kudos to them since I use this platform for my ML projects.

Customer service was near realtime even though it was night.

My experience with VAST.ai has been extremely disappointing and frustrating. The service advertises GPU instances, but in practice many of these appear to be containerized environments rather than true dedicated machines. This creates serious reliability concerns for users who require stable and predictable infrastructure.

One of the most problematic issues is that when an instance is stopped, it often disappears from availability. When attempting to restart it, the system simply goes into scheduling mode for extended periods without successfully launching the instance. For users running workloads that depend on consistent GPU availability, this behavior makes the platform highly unreliable.

In addition to the infrastructure issues, the quality of customer support was also very unsatisfactory. My interaction with a support agent named Saber did not lead to any meaningful resolution, and the responses I received lacked clarity and helpfulness. For a platform providing paid GPU infrastructure, a much higher standard of technical support should be expected.

Overall, the experience gave the impression of an unstable platform with insufficient support for customers. For users considering VAST.ai for serious workloads, I strongly recommend carefully evaluating the platform and its reliability before committing to it.

I hope the company takes these concerns seriously and improves both its infrastructure stability and the quality of its customer support.

A really top of the notch customer support. I lost my GitHub account so the login into my vast ai account. I contacted the support and they where able to refund me my money.

The customer service is great!

Bach is fantastically technically competent, to the point that they took a problem that I thought was super complicated and dissolved the whole thing by trying it straightforwardly. They have excellent problem solving and debugging skills, and were a tremendous help. I'm going to spend a bunch of money on vast.ai because of them!

It's been fun setting stuff up with them. You won't have root access to the containers, but their Docker containers and their marketplace have been sufficient to get me good remote desktop into a GPU-heavy CAD application at the cheapest price anywhere!

Vast.ai is one of the most useful vendors I've used. Both in corporate and small business. They are responsive, knowledgeable, and helpful. As the market shifts to decentralized clouds and consumer hardware, Vast.ai will far exceed its competitors. Great support team!

I started using Vast.ai yesterday, and to say the least, I’m quite mixed about the experience. I had to rent five different instances before finding one that actually worked, which was a waste of both time and money (not a huge amount). It’s honestly hair-pulling frustrating.

Many of the lowest-priced instances are full of bugs and issues. In the end, those supposedly cheap options don’t function properly, and the ones that do work are the more expensive ones. Maybe I was just unlucky, I’m not sure yet, but so far my impression is very mixed.

Awesome customer service - always helping and the people on the other end of the chat are like microcenter employees - they are all nerds with great skills and helping and teaching.

I encountered a connection issue with a machine. The customer service replied to me in a few minutes. It turned out that the connection issue is due to my network side. I am well-satisfied with the conclusion in short.
