Have SK discontinued there service??
The blade of my Monza Zirconium had come loose, so I contacted Sandrin Knives (SK), USA for advise on repair.
They referred me to a Mr. Alessandro Colombatto of Turmond in Italy, since I myself am located in Europe. Turmond manufactures Sandrin Knives for the EU market.
From here it all went down hill.
Mr. Colombatto asked me to send my knife to the Turmond factory in Valdellatorre Italy.
It was sent as a secure package with tracking and cost me $25.
After this I was ghosted by Mr. Colombatto. Even after he had received my knife he did not reply to any of my emails.
I of course got worried that I might have gotten scammed, maybe this Sandrin Tungsten Carbide project had gone wrong and they had decided to just keep up appearances for as long as possible…?
So I decided to write a complaint to Sandrin USA, explaining the situation including my worries and my intention to file an official complaint if they did not take action to fix the situation.
This worked, at first.
Suddenly Mr. Colombatto found the will to reply to my emails, promising he would ship me a new knife immediately, this was on the 18th of February 2025.
As of writing this review I have not received my new knife or any indication that it is actually on the way. I even wrote Mr. Colombatto 5 days ago and asked for a track/trace number for the package he supposedly sent. And you probably guests, once again I have been ghosted and have not heard from Mr. Colombatto since!
So be careful dealing with SK or there affiliates!
I have not been offered any explanation as to why the situation is as it is, and if this is a trend for SK, I worry not being able to get these expensive knives serviced, might be a deal breaker when looking for a new blade.
