My experience with Turing has been aBroken assessments, weeks of silence, and mass rejections after a platform glitch — complete waste of time…
My experience with Turing has been a frustrating cycle of technical failures, extremely slow support, and outcomes that felt unfair and demoralizing. During a Specialized Vetting assessment, the section that required evaluating two model-generated solutions was impossible to complete because the images containing the two model responses did not load at all. There was literally nothing to review or score, so I could not complete that section properly. I reported the issue and clearly asked to redo only the affected part, since I had already completed the earlier sections.
What happened next was absurd. Support took an unreasonably long time to respond, and when they finally replied, they asked me for details that were already clearly included in my previous email and the link I provided. I responded again and clarified everything. Then it took another long stretch of time before they told me the “solution” was that the exam was reset and I could redo it — but only from the beginning. That meant the parts I had already completed were gone, and I was expected to repeat everything because of a platform-side problem. That is a waste of professional time and shows zero respect for candidates.
At the same time, I checked my Turing profile and saw that a large batch of my applications had been declined at once (around 13). From my perspective, the main problem was that the assessment was submitted incomplete due to their technical issue, yet the platform still penalized me with mass rejections. This combination — broken assessment process, delayed and misunderstanding support, and negative consequences on applications — made me lose trust in the fairness and reliability of the system.
To make matters worse, I faced another technical issue later when trying to resume an interview: the page got stuck and would not move forward. The worst part is that support tickets can get closed before the issue is actually fixed, and after my last email I received no response for weeks, which feels like complete neglect once they are done with you.
I eventually gave up on Turing. It feels like you won’t earn anything meaningful from this platform, but you will lose hours to broken assessments, delays, and a process that is degrading and demoralizing. You also end up providing a lot of personal information “for free,” and after this experience I am genuinely uncomfortable about how that information could be stored or used. The irony is that even while I was dealing with unresolved issues and no real opportunities, I kept getting referral/bonus encouragement emails — as if the priority is growth and referrals rather than fixing the product and treating experts fairly. If they fixed the assessment reliability and made support faster and accountable, experts would refer others without needing a bonus.
I would not recommend Turing to any friend or qualified expert.
Likely a scam
I was prompted multiple times to submit my Turing application - both on Linkedin and email. Also, I was offered 500$ to finish the process. Needless to say, I did not receive the incentive.
Since submitting the application, I have not heard back from them for several weeks (despite the follow up message). Looks like a data collection scam rather than a genuine remote work platform.
Turing Doesn't Test Your Skills — It Tests Your Patience
Two months ago, I took Turing's Data Science aptitude test. Today, I took the SQL assessment. I was hoping the system would have improved based on feedback — but it was the same chaotic mess. If anyone actually passes this exam, they deserve a medal.
Why can't you build a test environment like StrataScratch? Their interface is simple and effective: questions on the left with table schemas clearly displayed (column names fully visible), a large code editor, a results panel below, a "Check Solution" button to test your output in real time, and an SQL dialect selector — all running seamlessly in the background. The user doesn't install anything, doesn't configure anything, just writes SQL.
What Turing gave me instead: I spent 20 out of 60 minutes just setting up my environment — searching for database credentials, installing the MySQL package, figuring out how to connect to the database within the workspace, and hunting through 50–60 files trying to find where the table information was hidden. This is not a test of SQL — it's an obstacle course.
The editor panels are tiny.
The questions themselves are unreasonable for the time given. Six questions in 60 minutes, including a recursive CTE — with a significant chunk of that time lost to environment setup. I challenge Turing to actually test whether these questions are completable in 60 minutes, even in a proper environment like StrataScratch. They barely would be.
Basic UX features are still missing: no option to hide the countdown timer, no language translation for questions. For a company that markets itself as an AI-powered platform, this is embarrassing.
Turing doesn't assess your SQL ability. Platforms like Mercor and Alignerr offer a far more reasonable experience. It's hard to believe that Turing, which calls itself an AI company, is actually capable of matching qualified candidates with employers when it can't even build a functional test environment.
Awful IDE for coding challenge
Awful IDE for coding challenge. Doesnt' allow logs and only let you test once every 45 seconds. This doesn't reflect real world coding.
Juice isn't worth the squeeze
Went through a lengthy applicaton process, video recording while completing the assessment. All of that for them to offer $6 p/h as a senior business analyst! What an absolute waste of time.

Disappointed with Turing’s handling of my payment issue
I completed two months of work with Turing, but when my Deel account was blocked, my payment got stuck. Deel clearly told me that Turing just needs to request a refund so the funds can be released.
Even after sharing all the details and ticket numbers, Turing has taken weeks with no real progress or clear updates. My payment is still stuck, and I’m left waiting with no timeline or solution.
Overall, this has been a very disappointing and frustrating experience. I delivered my work, but getting paid has become a painful process.

They will exploit you, one way or another
I had never heard of Turing until they contacted me on LinkedIn for a freelance job interview. They said it was to help train Gemini by creating extremely advanced math questions called HLE (Human’s Last Exam). During a 30-minute interview I was asked to prepare three of these questions as a trial. Later I saw that dozens, maybe hundreds, of similar “job offers” were posted worldwide, which makes me think they collected a huge number of questions for free. I spent about three hours preparing my trial, received constant reminder emails, and was promised great pay rates (over 100 dollars per hour). After I sent my work, the HR people disappeared and never replied again. Don’t waste your time with Turing unless you are clearly told your trial will be paid.

Schifo di azienda, se gli servi ti riempiono di messaggi, non appena trovano un rimpiazzo fanno ghosting e ti metto in "short list".

Automated and unpersonal!
This site is really bad! You never feel to be treated like a human being. All application steps are automated without any personal support. If you want to raise questions or send an email, you never receive any response! It is also impossible to change the rates in the application form. Complete fail!

Great company with challeging projects
There are many challenging projects. The main issue is the frequent project changes, which sometimes lead to a lack of clarity on what needs to be done when a new project begins.

Amazing work-life balance and learning opportunities
I’ve been working full-time at Turing for the past 1.5 years, and it’s been such a fulfilling experience so far. One of the things I value most is the healthy work-life balance the company encourages.
Turing has also given me countless opportunities to grow in the direction I’ve wanted, aligned closely with my interests and career goals. It never feels stagnant here; there’s always new things to learn, meaningful challenges to solve, and amazing people to work alongside.
The team culture is incredibly supportive, and I’ve had the chance to collaborate with some of the most talented and kind colleagues I’ve met in my career.
