Everything about this company is horrible: the snacks, the customer service, the shipping. This was supposed to be a great Christmas gift for our kid but it’s been a horror. The 1st box was a month late and then they missed a month. There is no phone for customer service so I’ve had to email. They do not read the emails thoroughly so I’ve had to send many emails to try to get them to fix their mistakes. Then they automatically renewed my subscription. They agreed to send 2 add’l boxes to make up for their error and then they said they wouldn’t. Snacks aren’t from the countries we selected and they are crap. Stay away from this company!

I ended up getting a three month subscription as a gift for my kids for Christmas. We have used Universal Yums in the past and just wanted to try something different. It had great promise, as it asks for the countries you're interested in getting things from as you set up your subscription.

Unfortunately the experiences we had were pretty lackluster and disappointing. First, their boxes seem to ship out at random times, we got two of our boxes in the same month. They also don't tell you when to expect a box, they just show up.

As far as the products, it just seemed like a conglomeration of random items. Two of our boxes had a drink. One did not. There was also no theme at all in each box. Perhaps I was spoiled by Universal Yums, who has themed boxes by country and a write up of the items in your box. Many of these items are also available in the US and from the US, so it wasn't really exposing us to anything novel or fun.

My biggest complaint, however, was the lack of variety. Between our three boxes, we had at least 5 items in every single box that was the same each time. The same 2 drink powder mixes. The same rice box. The same pastry. The same bag of chips. The same caffeinated chocolate bar. In each box, there was maybe 1 or 2 interesting things to try. Overall, it really just felt like a waste of money. I cancelled the subscription and do not recommend it to someone looking to try foods or snacks in other countries.

This is a terrible company. We purchased a 3 month subscription for a gift for my parents. Our family has traveled/lived in many countries and we were excited for them to get snacks from countries we have been to.
We have gotten 2 boxes in 4 months. The boxes have random, cheap snacks from random countries. There is no theme: we were supposed to get boxes from India, Germany and Italy and none of the boxes have represented those countries.
We paid $125 for this subscription and I want my money back. I have tried to contact the company twice and am getting no response.
Don’t waste your money!

This company is awful...it takes 2 months for a box to be delivered and they are sneaky and try to sign you up for multiple boxes and then auto charge you every month. I only opted for 1 box and was charged a second month and only after I emailed them and saying if they don't reimburse me I would report it to my bank did they respond. I would avoid using this company.

Product was great, my family enjoyed them as gifts. There was an oversight about the 3 month renewal but after contacting them they were able to get the issue resolved and were very accomodating. Recommend!

For $600 for 9 months. I received my first box on time with Sunkissed Prunes, Quaker Oats bars, and inedible items that you could get in a grocery store here in the states. My second box didn't come until one week before the 3rd month. Who knows if I'll get the next box when I'm supposed to. Universal Yum and Snake Crate do a job that's 100x better and you get your box on time.

I received this as a gift, but still had to provide my credit card for shipping when I wasn't subscribing. After ordering, my account indeed said I was subscribed, very scammy. I cancelled my subscription, and when I finally received the box over a month later, it was quite debatable as to whether it applied to Nepal, as ordered. The prunes included in the box were already expired, after looking up prices to buy the products individually, they added up to half the price of the box, and the box included no information about the products and how they fit into the theme, like other snack box companies do. I'd steer clear of these guys if you're thinking of buying a box from them.

I didn’t realize my order was going to be late, but they jumped in and upgraded the shipping so it’ll arrive in time for Christmas! So thankful—you guys are amazing!!!

They won't stop. They will not stop spamming me with their garbage, no matter how many times I tell them to stop.

Do not trust this company. I was gifted a box and had to pay for shipping. They used that information and signed me up for automatic renewals. It was a nightmare getting it cancelled.

We finally got the order we placed in November on January 6. We requested snacks from Croatia. Not one of the snacks in the box were from Croatia. My 9 year old grandson informed me that most of the products were from India. A few from the states and cookies from the Netherlands. Like I said in my previous review order from Universal Yums. They are honest about what they will send you and not stale unexpected foods. Will never order from these guys again

Buyer beware. Wish I could give negative stars. I wanted to try a single box for 1 month to gift a friend. You're then locked into an auto-renew subscription unless you cancel right away. The information is buried in the Terms of Service and renewal is more expensive than the initial purpose. Gross, sneaky scam

I needed to change my delivery address due to a family emergency and they were very kind in their reply. The address was changed immediately and all is well. I highly recommend this company and their customer service. Great products and fun to unpack and try food from other countries.

After waiting for around a month for the box to come. I have to say I’m deeply disappointed. First off, I can get 80% of what was in the box at my local Walmart and can get the other things in my city too. Not really trying the world. Second, why are electrolyte hydration packets included in this? When we requested a refund we were told that the contents and shipping for the other 2 boxes have already been paid for on their end so they can’t issue us a refund. And I’m sorry? Shipping has already been paid for on boxes that are months away from being shipped? I’m calling bullshit on that one.

Other reviewers have posted exactly what I would've posted. I order one (1) box for one month, before that one arrived I was charged for the 2nd box I had no intention of paying for. Also, I specifically wanted snacks from Italy, which they let you choose on the site, out of the 10 or so items in the shipment, exactly 1 was from Italy. They are a scam subscription service, they know it and don't care. Buy somewhere else.

Absolutely disgusted with Try the World. I ordered 3 -1 month boxes. We received 1 box late. Then we only received an empty mailing envelope for the second and we have not received the 3rd box.
As well, we were charged for auto renewal even though it was only a 1 month box. Total scam. I’ve contacted the customer service far too many times to count. Nothing but excuses. Will be letting our local paper know.

I ordered a box on Dec. 23 for a birthday occurring the following week. I received a email stating that we would receive the box on Jan 15! Nowhere on the website did it state that shipping would be three weeks or I would not have ordered. I immediately sent an email to cancel my order, which of course they said was too late. They said they were able to get it out sooner for me which was a lie. It is now Jan. 8 with no box in sight. Would not recommend ordering from them unless you have unlimited time to wait for the box. Let’s see if it’s worth the money-I highly doubt that it will be!

UPDATE:
I did receive my box. While I would not say it is good value, I did purchase this as a bit of a novelty. Based on value of items recieved and the fact that I ordered this the beginning of November (4th I believe) and just recieved it Jan 12 I have changed my rating from 1 star to 3.

I am pretty sure this is just a scam. I ordered early in November 2025 in order to receive for Christmas. The website said that due to the high volume of orders they would be shipping the 15th of the month. Late November when I had not heard anything, I contacted customer service, and was told they would be shipping the second or third week of December. That set off alarm bells. What company ships that late for an order in early November. I waited until after Dec 15th and was then given a tracking number and site. Immediately I realized this was not good.The tracking site was PPX track and looks so unprofessional that I googled it and was informed it is often associated with scams. The site for PPX tracking says enter a tracking number no longer than 10 digits....the tracking number they gave me was 18 characters long. I have asked for a refund and was simply given the tracking number again. Do Not Order!

Basically the customer service was brilliant.

So…long story short, Im an ass. I came in honing the passive aggressive skills passed on to me from my mother in a strongly worded letter thinking I had been in fact scammed and this box purchase for my niece was a bunch of bull****.

After going back and forth with discussion and working out the details of what happened, I had confirmed the address correct even though I DID in fact have the zip-code incorrect.

How did I royally fudge up on a mailing address I sent items to regularly?? No bloody clue and best part….my sister who LIVES there didn't catch it either. It was a humbling moment and an embarrassing one as well.

Now its all sorted out and I apologized profusely though I'm not sure it was enough. I even offered to pay for the replacements as ultimately it was my f*** up but customer service is sending both replacements free of charge. It hardly feels fair and I genuinely feel like I ripped the company off by not paying for my mistake but I can not express how grateful I am and for the amazing customer service I received. Thank you and I will be back to buy from this company again.

2 problems with this company

1. I bought a gift card for someone, knowing that I wouldn't be there to cancel any auto-renewals that happened. However, this company uses the term "gift card" very liberally - it still signed us up for a subscription and charged my credit card indefinitely.
Edit: after showing my customer support rep this review, they refunded the most recent charge and cancelled the subscription. Many thanks. I increased the star rating.

2. The food is pretty crappy. Much of what came in the box is also available at the discount grocery store I shop at. This company fills out the boxes with things from little-known brands that are not selling at regular stores, or from brands who are going out of business.
Edit: I don't know why the customer rep is arguing with me on this. I literally see many of their snacks at my discount grocery. The BTS-themed Pocky-like snacks, the boba teas, many of the same exact snacks are at our awesome discount grocer's named Esh's.
