Fell Very Short of Top Notch
We hired Top Notch Moving for a full-service cross-country move based on their promise that they were not a brokerage and would personally handle our move from start to finish. This was a key reason we chose them. However, when our belongings arrived, the delivery was contracted out to third-party labor—a direct contradiction of what was promised.
The driver arrived alone and unprepared to unload an entire household of furniture. Additional help was brought in later, but they were not Top Notch employees, were unfamiliar with the job, and one even admitted to being intoxicated. He became aggressive when denied access to a pet-occupied bathroom, creating an unprofessional and uncomfortable situation.
The move also caused significant damage to our furniture, including:
Bed frame missing legs
Bookshelf with a hole and large dent
TV console missing shelf pegs
Work desk with a broken lift mechanism
Art desk damaged beyond repair
Hardware bags opened, many essential parts missing
Despite our contract stating items would be disassembled and reassembled, the delivery crew had no knowledge of this and no plan to follow through. We reassembled most of it ourselves.
We contacted Top Notch with our concerns and spoke the next day. After that call, the owner failed to follow up as promised. It took multiple texts to get a brief reply, showing no urgency or willingness to resolve the situation. Since then, we’ve been ghosted. No resolution has been offered.
If you’re considering this company, pay only with a credit card or another method that allows for disputes. Do not pay in cash—you may be left with no recourse if things go wrong.
This was a costly, disappointing experience that we hope others can avoid.

First let me say we are not a brokerage as you stated above we are a family owned moving company . Secondly Im sorry about the experience you had and I did contact everyone involved to get both sides and the driver did have knowledge that he was supposed to put things back together as he did for 4 hours as we do if we take the things apart. His helper was not able to make it so he reached out to a local mover for help so u could have your things you were not asked to help them you chose to help them. I sent you all the information to file a claim on the damages. I’m not sure what issue you want resolved I can not fill your request to be compensated a refund because of your stress . We picked your things up you were very happy we delivered your things and there were some issues and you got your things everything was put together as you asked Yes you had damages and I’m truly sorry for that and you will get your money for the damages. We did the job and are more the willing to refund you for your damages. I did stop contacting you because I gave you the information you needed for damages and who to contact and was not going to argue back and fourth. The driver had 5 other customers things on the truck and you were the only one that was unhappy. You also tipped the delivery driver $250 but now want to be refunded that and half the move. This is not adding up. I 1000% think we are responsible for ur damages!!
