I enjoyed the ThinkNeuro program due to…
I enjoyed the ThinkNeuro program due to it being a very easy and achievable program. I have interned in both the spring and summer cohorts, and I have loved every moment. People are always there along the way if you have any questions, and they give a real-world experience about how to analyze data!!!
Summer Cohort
I enjoyed being part of a team and sharing thoughtful ideas. It was a unique experience that I incredibly valued and holds you accountable for your work.
Amazing Opportunity for Passionate Students
This was a really amazing experience as a ThinkNeuro Intern. I enjoyed learning R programming, and as someone who enjoys learning new coding languages, I really loved this aspect of the internship. I also enjoyed working with hard-working peers to make meaningful progress into our research topic. I would definitely participate in this internship again because I would to explore other fields of neuroscience as well. My research topic was in Computational Neuroscience, but I'm looking forward to exploring other topics such as Neurotechnology and Neuroimaging. Overall, this internship experience was a blast and I gained really helpful skills such as abstract writing, R programming, and most importantly, collaboration! I can't wait to see how much more this program will grow.
Great experience, I would do it again!
I loved working with others for this internship! The assignments were mostly simple and fun to achieve with some being challenging due to shortened submission times. I had issues with coding, as I didn't have an institution email to collect raw data. However, this was resolved easily by my project lead when she gave me the raw data export. This experience was very educational yet entertaining, and I would do it again if I had the chance. Our research topic was dopamine's role in addiction for patients with Parkinson's Disease. This helped me gain skills in research, communication, and teamwork which are very useful for my future programs in college, pharmacology or pharmacy.
SRI 25 Review - Healthcare Disparities
I loved this internship! I think it was very easy to follow along and simple to complete. The coordinators and associates work hard to make your job easy and have consistent office hours to help people out. The coordinators of ThinkNeuro truly make this internship enjoyable and easy. My research topic was healthcare disparities. I would 100% do this internship again. I gained new skills, such as R programming certification and research experience. I learned a lot from this internship and wish new interns and associates the best of luck in applying and researching.
2025 Summer Internship
During my time in the ThinkNeuro internship, I learned a lot of new skills such as time management, responsibility, and advocacy. It was my first internship experience, and I would definitely do it again. I especially enjoyed the R language programming academy, which was my first exposure to coding. I participated in the health disparities and public health topic and I highly recommend this topic for anyone seeking to learn more about these fields.
ThinkNeuro Review - Vishakha S.
My experience was great because of the great leadership my group had, as well as the fantastic support this program provided. We had an amazing associate, Margaret, who was really organized and delegated tasks effectively. We learned so much about neurodegenerative diseases, specifically Huntington's, and researching on it, as well as making a poster, was a wonderful journey with all my group members. I would strongly recommend this program for anyone is interested in biology and the healthcare field. This was my first time being a part of this program, and I would totally do it again!
Good internship
As an associate, I really enjoyed my experience there. However, I did notice that some interns were inactive the entirety of the internship. I do feel like ThinkNeuro could help deal with some of this inactivity. Overall, amazing experience! I will definitely continue onwards with this internship!
I was an intern at Thinkneuro for 2025 Summer
I was an intern at Thinkneuro for summer of 2025, and I felt that the experience was fun. I didn't really enjoy the R Programming course, but this was just me but I had a good time working with my chosen group and associate. I feel that your experience really depends on the associate you are paired up with, because they can really make or break your experience. My associate and co-associate were great though. A thing I am not sure of though is the qualification of the published research. I felt that there should maybe be a way for more articles to be published rather than just one, especially with how big ThinkNeuro is. I would do it again.
Invaluable experience gained
I learned a lot within this program, including completely new knowledge on R Programming. I also was introduced to new opportunities by being a part of this internship. My associates were very helpful and my coworkers were all supportive, happy to be working here, and got things done in a timely manner. I would definitely recommend this program to anyone interested in research, neuroscience, or psychology! I was a part of the neurodevelopmental project and my coworkers and I decided to research the biological and developmental factors of ADHD. The process of choosing a topic for the project was very open and my associates made sure EVERYONE got a chance to share their input and have a say in what we would end up doing. I would 100% participate in this program again!! I thoroughly enjoyed meeting new, likeminded peers, working within the field I am pursuing a career in, and being treated like a valuable member of the team.
ThinkNeuro summer 2025
Interning at ThinkNeuro was a great experience. It was my first step into research. During these weeks, I learned how to use RStudio and gained an understanding of bibliometrics. During those two weeks of training with RStudio, it was easy to understand, and they were also available to answer any questions that arose. The thing that I enjoyed the most about this experience was working with my group on our research poster. My research topic was neurodevelopmental disorders. Some things that I gained from the experience were how to do figures and research articles, and where the most credible sites Overall, it was a wonderful experience, and I would do it again
Great Experience!
This was a very great experience. For my first internship, this was a very helpful and great environment. I learned a lot about data and how to work as a team, and I would definitely do it again.
ThinkNeuro is an Awesome Experience!
At ThinkNeuro, I was an summer intern when I joined initially, but then later applied and became an co-associate. The internship was really useful, as it provided me many essential skills, such as communication, collaboration, and time management. I learned so much from my fellow peers and associate, and I plan to put that knowledge to use in the future. I would definitely do it again, as it gave off a great impression at the start. The people there were friendly and understanding, and also answered all of your questions throughly. My fellow interns were also great to work with, and were engaging.
Overall, it was a true pleasure working with the ThinkNeuro team this year!
I was part of the 2025 Bibliometrics…
I was part of the 2025 Bibliometrics Cohort, and participating in this internship has been a valuable experience overall. I was able to develop foundational R-Programming skills—especially in data handling - that I'm sure will prove to be useful as I continue with research. The exposure to research structures and academic expectations also gave me a good idea of how larger collaborative projects are typically run, further preparing me for future research positions.
However, I feel it’s important to note that the quality of the research experience itself can vary significantly depending on your assigned research team. My team chose to explore the epigenetic factors that lead to the exacerbation of Huntington's Disease pathogenesis, and we struggled significantly due to a lack of experienced leadership and proper time management. I felt that my associates had limited experience in managing a research team - this was expected, as this internship is designed to be an introduction to research - but I think with more consistent support and clearer guidance, we would have been able to stay on track with our research goals. We missed opportunities for deeper exploration and collaboration, which I deeply regret.
That said, I do believe the internship has potential to offer a beneficial introduction to research if efforts were to be allocated to developing more structure, or to associate training. I would be willing to give this experience another try should the above changes be implemented.

I was an associate for the 2025 summer internship cohort...
I was an associate for the 2025 summer internship cohort, and while I enjoyed my time, I found the internship to be poorly planned. Weekly assignments sent to associates were often provided later than desired, which made it challenging for interns to plan effectively. Important documents, such as the syllabus, associate duties, and dates, also appeared to be prepared last-minute instead of at the beginning like most internship would provide. My project manager's lack of communication and limited presence during the internship further contributed to the lack of structure. While I appreciated the freedom to lead my team, the overall organization was not as thorough as I had hoped. Additionally, while I understand that this is an introductory research experience, the leniency with late assignments and intern inactivity didn't encourage accountability. By planning documents and dates ahead of time instead of working on them each week, associates could receive assignments at the beginning of their position, allowing for better preparation and time management. Going forward, it would be helpful if all documents and schedules were planned and written before the start of the internship, and if there were clearer expectations for intern deadlines to help build a more structured and accountable experience.
That being said, I did enjoy leading my team and it was a pleasure to help them through this research experience. While there are some changes that should be taken into consideration, I would recommend this program for anyone looking to fill their summer with doing something meaningful and students who are interested in dipping their toes into research.

I (rising senior in HS) thought that my associate and co-associate were great and my group was very organized as things were always getting done on time. I did neurotechnology and wearable devices as I want to go into biotechnology or BME, and it really helped me explore the trends in those fields. Furthermore, my associate always answered my questions and worked hard to help us with creating our research figures and even gave us the opportunity to format the poster itself. This was the best part of the internship and I am grateful to my associate and colleagues for being punctual!
However, I felt like at times with the R programming workshop, it felt disorganized and many were left with questions that were unanswered. Aside from office hours, there was no real way to explain the work to the interns, but most of it was manageable as a first-time learner. Additionally, I was moved around to three different groups (I requested to be moved to Neurotechnology and Wearable Devices as that was my first choice, and after being moved to a group in that topic, I was moved internally between groups even after having started the projects) and I found that super frustrating as the reason I was given was for organization purposes and I had to leave groups I had already built rapport in. Thankfully my new group was very organized, but those running ThinkNeuro could do better. I have heard from many with similar/worse experiences, even associates too.
I would recommend this for young high school students, but am not sure how useful it would be for undergraduates as the research is very bare minimum (although very interesting.) I would have liked the research to have been more in-depth. Additionally, I believe the $40 fee is NOT worth it, and the fact they gave no fee waivers at all was disappointing—for that price, I would have liked a more in-depth R programming workshop. There were definitely highs and lows, but I believe ThinkNeuro can improve.
TL;DR: I feel that ThinkNeuro as a whole can improve its organizational structure, but the research is very bare and not worth it for undergraduate/late HS students. I personally found it interesting and had a great experience with my group but not sure how others will feel! I am interested in returning in the fall to see how it has changed, but the fee is definitely a deterrent.
Summer 2025 Bibliometrics Internship Review
The summer bibliometrics internship with ThinkNeuro was an incredible experience. I truly enjoyed every part of it and gained a variety of new skills that I wouldn't have learned otherwise, such as R programming, conducting bibliometric analyses on topics of our choice, and more. I learned how to extract data from the Web of Science (WoS), analyze it using RStudio, generate and interpret visualizations, write a graduate-level research abstract, and contribute to a professional research poster.
One of the highlights was collaborating with a group of students who shared my passion for brain-computer interfaces (BCIs) and neural networks (the focus of my group). I’m very excited to apply and participate again in the fall bibliometrics internship, this time hopefully as an associate, now that I’ve gained experience through this cohort.
ThinkNeuro - Great introduction to internships!
This internship was so great! As my first internship, I learned a lot about collaboration, timeliness, teamwork, and communication. I liked how paced the schedule of the internship was, as it helped me get acclimated to being an intern for the first time. The R programming academy was so helpful, and it was interesting to learn programming, as it is not my area of expertise. Getting to put the language to use in research was also so significant! I even enjoyed helping with creating a research question in an area I was interested in (neuropharmacology) and attempting to tackle a question that applies to real-world issues. I would definitely do this internship again, and I’d recommend anyone who hasn’t done an internship yet to start here! I also like how the internship was remote, as it allowed me to make time for other things I needed to do during the summer. Especially as an undergraduate student, this internship is a great way to get started on a career based and focused in research. My research topic was centered on if metformin, a drug usually used by people with Type 2 diabetes, can also reduce the risk of developing Alzheimer’s disease and other dementias. Some of the skills that I gained through this internship that I see myself using in the future are programming skills using RStudio, using Microsoft Excel to make pivot tables and figures, using Slack to communicate with team members, as well as networking with other people within the cohort. This was such a great internship to be a part of, and I’m so glad I got to be a part of it this summer!!
Think Neuro Experience
I have a really helpful and supportive associate and co-associate. They were easy to communicate with and were pretty organized. I would definitely recommend the program.
