A walk down memory lane as an ex-VG service contributor
I'm taking a walk down memory lane. Everything is super good for me now, so I can afford to take the time to comment on my experience working with VG.
I was a very early contributor as an Executive Admin Asst. I came up through the ranks to be ranked as a go-to VA, including being included in their so-called 'cohort' program and onboarding as a trainer/coach.
However, once they identified my interest in AI business solutions, I believe they saw my perspective as a threat to their emphasis on delivering low-tech, easily replicated human skills, and I was drummed out. Not sure - I could never get any sincere feedback.
I came away feeling used, screwed, abused, underpaid, and disrespected.
Thankfully, I'm out now and have built a satisfying and lucrative business for myself. I'm still connected with a number of my talented old buddies from VG ranks, all of whom share my perspective on feeling used and sad.
I can't comment from an employer's perspective, but this is a cautionary signal to North American-based potential service providers. Be careful - you'll spend a ton of time, get paid minimum wage, and be sold out if a client makes any claim (regardless of its legitimacy), and you'll never get a straight answer from their management.
VG is client-oriented - they have little or no regard for their contributing VAs. Be prepared to be in a 'dime a dozen' class if you work with them.
