David has been working with my son for only a few months now, but already has managed to help with the confidence he needed as he approaches his 11+ exam this year. The sessions with David are always focused, well planned and enjoyable. David had prepared and shared a lot of material with us upfront, covering the key and advanced concepts that they go through during the sessions. My son always looks forward to the sessions with David due to the positive tutor-tutee relationship that has been built, in a very short time. He also often finishes their session feeling motivated and smiling. Both his writing and reading comprehension skills have improved a lot. I am hugely grateful to David for the attention, amazing and positive attitude, and the feedback he is always sharing with my son, but also with me, keeping me in the loop, and less stressed about the exams. David tutoring our son is the best experience with a teacher that we have ever had.

David has been a fantastic tutor to my son over the last few weeks as he prepares for GCSE's this year. After a disappointing result in mock exams in February we contacted David through First Tutors. From the first session my son felt very comfortable working with David and has improved significantly since then. He looks forward to his sessions and is feeling much more confident and prepared. David is truly an exceptional tutor. From our first meeting, he put both my daughter and I at ease by explaining simple strategies related to her GCSE exam board and how they could work together to achieve her goal of a higher grade.

After only one lesson, my daughter had a lightbulb moment and everything that she had been taught at school over the course of the last two years made complete sense. David is able to help students break everything down to the lowest common denominator, which then allows them to strategically put all their building blocks in alignment so that they can answer or tackle any question put in front of them. This is a true life skill which David teaches with ease and competence.

Above all lessons are fun, engaging and David quickly builds up a rapport with his students so an hour of English becomes a thing of joy rather than something to be dreaded.

Our daughter has been learning English with David for almost two years now. We are currently attending an international school and preparing for the highly competitive 11+ entrance exams for top UK independent schools.

David has been excellent at helping my daughter with English Language. She used to be quite stressed and blocked. Other tutors and methods didn't seem to work but David has certainly managed to increase her confidence and unblocked her potential.

We decided to get a tutor because our son was struggling with English and had low confidence in his ability. Luke has been having intensive holiday lessons with David, and already we can see a huge difference. He’s engaged throughout the whole lesson (a first!) and always comes away cheerful and excited to share what he’s learned. David is a fun and patient tutor, and it’s clear he knows exactly how to work with his students to bring out their best.
