TMR Sri Lanka Medical Elective
I am just about to complete my 4 week medical elective with TMR Sri Lanka. I felt the program was well organised and geared to the level of senior medical students; we had transport to the hospitals each morning and our supervisor (Thilini) was very helpful introducing us to staff on wards initially to help us get involved. I felt I could take what I wanted from the placement and had opportunities to develop and see a variety of problems I would not see at home. I have loved being in Sri Lanka and would recommend the program to potential volunteers.

I was with TMR for 4 weeks doing the…
I was with TMR for 4 weeks doing the medical programme as part of my university elective. The programme lead, Thilini was lovely and organised a wide range of opportunities for us. The whole team at TMR Sri Lanka were great. I had a wonderful time and have made some incredible memories. I did all 3 weekend trips, which were great value and an amazing way to see the country!

I have been volunteering in Bali for 2…
I have been volunteering in Bali for 2 weeks in July went with my husband and our 3 16 year olds we had the best time 2 of us did the teaching programme at the local school and this was an incredible experience the children were so thankful kind and their willingness to learn was amazing we were teaching the younger age from from 9 years old and I loved each and everyone of them was a wonderful 2 weeks and the other 3 from our family did the marine conservation programme again they very much enjoyed but was a little repetitive building the artificial reef most days. We got to all release baby turtles a few nights too which was amazing !!
The accommodation was beautiful and the pool was lovely food lovely and the staff here are amazing !

My experience in Vietnam was an incredible adventure. I spent two weeks with the Outreach team, who were fantastic, volunteering in a local hospital, and it opened my eyes to so many different aspects of life and healthcare. Being immersed in a completely different culture, trying new foods, learning new customs, and seeing how healthcare is delivered in another country was truly enlightening.
I felt surprisingly at peace during my stay. I enjoyed every moment, from making new friends to learning new skills and discovering what the world has to offer. Vietnam gave me space to grow, reflect, and appreciate the beauty of stepping outside my comfort zone.
Outreach provided an amazing opportunity, encouraging us to explore new areas, discover new places, and embrace every experience. Altogether, it was a journey I’ll never forget one filled with learning, connection, and unforgettable memories

Opportunity of a lifetime!
I had a great time volunteering with Mighty Roar Tanzania for 4 weeks. I initially signed up for both the teaching and medical placements. However, I ended up spending most of my time in the childcare placement rather than teaching, as I wasn’t aware that the teaching placement had to be arranged separately. Each morning the transport would head either to the village or the hospital, so this limited the opportunities to go to teaching. I didn’t realise this until my last 2 days at the placement when someone told me I had actually been going to childcare all this time and not on the teaching placement! Despite this, I still really enjoyed my time with the children and found the experience incredibly rewarding.
The staff were very accommodating and flexible throughout my stay, always willing to help and make the experience as enjoyable as possible.
The accommodation was fairly good, which was expected, but the quality of the rooms did vary. My first room didn’t have hot water for the entire first week, whereas my second room did. Some of the rooms also had mould and crumbling walls, so I found myself spending as much time as possible outdoors or exploring the local area. Despite these issues, the accommodation staff did their best to help whenever they could.
Overall, the experience was very well organised. The drivers – Mustafa, Daniel and Emmanuel – were always patient, reliable and friendly. Naima, Daniel, Junior, Felix and the reception team were all incredibly kind and welcoming throughout my stay. Alice and Naomi in the office were always happy to offer advice and support whenever I needed it.
The excursions organised by the local team were great fun, well run and easily accessible, and they really added to the overall experience. Although there were a few accommodation issues and some confusion around organising the placements, the people, the volunteering opportunities and the support from the team made it a memorable trip that I’m very glad I took.

Volunteering in Ghana
I volunteered for 3 weeks in the medical program in Ghana. From the moment I booked with TMR they provided us with support, making sure everything went smoothly. Volunteering in the hospital was such a rewarding experience, we had the opportunity to gain hands on experience and learn a lot from the doctors. Dinah and the local team were so helpful and did a great job of giving us such a fun experience. Busua is such an amazing place with the most beautiful beach and such a welcoming community. I can’t recommend this program enough, it was truly such an amazing experience.

I did the mental health and psychology…
I did the mental health and psychology programme for 4 weeks with the Mighty Roar and cherish the experience. I got to experience different types of placements and staff we very happy to accommodate us if we asked to try another medical placement that wasn't on our usual rotation.
The accommodation was clean and tidy and staff were very friendly and helpful when we had any questions or concerns. I felt very safe and the tuktuks located just outside of the accommodation were always very approachable and would ask us if we needed a ride back when dropping us into town. One of my friends went shopping for birthday cards and one of the tuktuk drivers from TMR took her to 5 different shops and spoke to the staff to her help, they really went above and beyond!
I feel very grateful and privileged that I got to take part in this programme and would recommend it to anyone who wants to experience a different culture to their own!

I have just completed a 2 week medical elective in Moshi in Tanzania with the mighty roar. I can’t recommend this company enough. The process from booking to completing my elective was easy and very smooth. There was always someone to contact if I had any questions. Amazing experience from start to finish! The staff at the hostel are absolutely great and cannot do enough for you! There were activities on most days which helps the groups to mingle. I had a great time volunteering in madagascar under the teaching programme. Staff were amazing, especially Gabby and Mario. Food was limited and very rice based but the accomdation was manageable for the 2 weeks i was there and very clean. Would highly recommend!

The best volunteering you can find!
Earlier this year I visited TMR's Ghana projects. I can safely say it was the best 5 weeks I've ever experienced abroad. Thanks to the UK team for organizing a smooth travelling process, and an incredible local team who welcomed me like family. The volunteering itself was wonderfully organized and there are so many activities available for those willing to participate, like cooking classes, dance, surf lessons and everything in between. You'd struggle to find yourself bored here if you're willing to get stuck in. All activities are hosted by Volunteer Coordinator Dinah, her family and the local boys and their energy, enthusiasm and professionalism is unmatched. They made this trip so special for me, making sure the volunteers are able to bond and feel safe throughout their visit. They would go above and beyond to help any individual. The weekend trips were also brilliant. To see Ghanaian culture with such well organized tours was something I feel very grateful for. If you're interested in volunteering, this place is just perfect. Thank you so much TMR and TMR Ghana for making my time so special. I will absolutely return.

overall my experience of tmr was…
overall my experience of tmr was incredible and i made so many memories. i did the teaching program and the turtle program. these were both great and the staff were lovely. however i think the organisation and communication wasn’t great. there was only 7 of us that came one weekend and we didn’t have a full introduction and missed out on a lot of things the people did that came as a big group. i also went on the 9 day travel trip which i saw the main parts of sri lanka. yet again the communication on the trip was nonexistent and the guide wasn’t on the group chat. the location was amazing and it was near local places to explore. when you needed something at tmr the staff were always there to help straight away.

I did the dog programme in Sri Lanka
I did the dog programme in Sri Lanka. Kavi (coordinator) was super nice and helpful. We would prepare the food, feed the dogs and the street dogs. No need to worry about rabies in the sanctuary as all are vaccinated and really friendly!

Kilimanjaro with TMR was amazing!
I climbed Kilimanjaro with TMR and it was the best thing I have ever done. From the UK team providing a fulfilling volunteering experience, to the organisation of the team supporting us on the ground in Tanzania, and the team who guided us to the highest point in africa. Everything was incredible and the hike was flawless. I couldn't recommend this trip enough. If you're up for the challenge, this is the way to go! Thank you so much!
