I had a highly disappointing experience. The person Advocacy People paired me up with, this professional advertises thst they possess mental health skills, but they failed to use them during our interaction. Instead, they hung up on a neurodivergent person who was in need of support. Based on this firsthand experience, I felt their actions did not match their professional claims. I don’t recommend “Advocacy People” for people who have any form of mental health.

There's a reason pals recommend them. I refuse to use them this time. Previously I got a draft letter re gp complaint that was just a few lines long and bore very little relation yo what I'd said or wanted. So I gave up, whuvh I'm sure us the idea.

Why don’t they apply to any of these reviews? what is their purpose? why do they waste vulnerable peoples energy and time? Don’t know how they live with their selves!

Waste of time. Dont provide timescales or updates. Currently I've been waiting months and nothing. If they cant provide timely advocates then the service is not fit for purpose.

Don't go with the advocacy people. When I was relying on them to turn up for a ward meeting they failed to turn up with no explanation. Don't go with the advocacy people unless you expect to be let down

My mother needed an advocate and they were brilliant! They explained the role and that they could not make decisions, only make clear my mother's wishes and feelings of the specific situation. It was a little frustrating at times because you get nothing ‘concrete’ regarding their views on the overall situation but having researched Advocacy, that’s them doing their job properly! I am grateful that my mother was able to have support to make sure her voice was heard in such difficult circumstances, with a lot of professionals involved, with differing perspectives. I genuinely believe she would’ve sat there in silence with decisions being made without her voice had she not had an Advocate present.

Had to go to court as the advocacy service kept changing my advocates and then they go on annual leave then sick leave then holiday leave had to speak to so many managers and they keep promising things and then run away and they shut my case down and now court has shut them down and they no longer exist and now waiting for court date to go to court to find out what's gonna happen from here after the incident two years ago I wouldn't be surprised if they reopen under a new name

I made a complaint about lack of Reasonable adjustments amongst other issues, they got back to me without making reasonable adjustments or speaking to myself to say they had investigated my complaint. I also suspect that the person investigating is someone I previously made a complaint about? Beggars belief and these are the people who are supposed to be advocating on vulnerable adults behalf?

The Most Appalling Experiences from this Company.

For Over Three Months, they have done absolutely nothing but provide countless discriminatory and out dated concepts, and have then run away.

Avoid Like The Plague

Used another advocacy organisation in the past but they spoke more to the social worker than me so when this advocate was appointed I wasn't sure. How wrong could I be!!! She was on my side from day 1, fighting my corner and making sure I was listened to. I got the help I needed, not what they thought I needed. I am so grateful, I wish I could give more than 5 stars.

This organisation have limited knowledge of the Mental Capacity Act. Avoid them like the plague. They will be under investigation soon and hopefully closed down as the advocate only for themselves under their own rules and not the law.

My advocate was literally the only person who listened, I don’t think I would be here today if she hadn’t got involved. Social services and NHS didn’t want to know until I got an advocate. Cntact centre are great too, really polite and helpful.
I don’t get why this company has poor reviews, my experience was completely opposite. I think maybe those people just didn’t understand what an advocate can and can’t do? They can fight your corner when you are not able, but they can’t fix your whole life for you. Anyway, 5 stars from me.

The advisor called up and began a tirade of abuse and discrimination. After she had apologised several times, I still asked that we proceed, ultimately she refused, took the payment for a job she never did, and then went on holiday with her earnings. That is all that happened. This is an awful company, who are used by local agencies to disuade complaint resolutions.

Useless non independent service
If I could give them less than one star I would anyone using them in Kent do not use as they are not independent and in bed with the council and share personal information

Typical: 'thrown out the door, come back trough the window' company . Bromley council is not officially related to them - after many years of public complaints, Bromley signed a contract with another advocacy service (advocacy for all). Then Advocacy for all signed contract with advocacy people , for covering of Bromley council. Bromley council supported the procedure - they do not care about complaints of the public. The problem, however, is that Advocacy People does not do the advocacy task- factually does not do anything. Last year, i requested their help - they didn't do anything for 3 months - then after 3 months in November they wrote a letter to hospital. No answer arrived until today. On other hand, the Advocacy people neither answers emails since January 2023....

Been sent to these people multiple times & have actually done nothing months go by without hearing from anyone including own advocate. Bromley Area

Extremely poor communication dont return calls & nobody is ever available to take calls in reception just voicemail. Mainline number 9000 number

Managers are spiteful. Its turns out staff delete these messages to antagonise users & pretend they've not.
Abuse people with mental health
No empathy no real training
In the last 7 months done absolutely nothing. Not even arranged 3 way call for ombudman? People always off sick? Time & time again?

Delay you're case if you complain about their unprofessional service or unprofessional advocates & I've unfortunately had several.

Who don't want to write you're complaint down THEY ACTUALLY TAKE YOURE VOICE AWAY... one of the services they claim to offer independently....
Years later still not helped with letters or complaints abouts NHS?

Funded by same people not independently run. Definitely NOT independent.. keep changing names but same poor service from same poor staff

These people are detrimental to the mental health of the person they are supposed to be helping. They can not be trusted, they are poorly trained and manipulative
