After consulting with Tara, the owner of this company, I loved my first order so much that I went back with her kind discount offer for a second purchase. The navy blue Short Silk Jacquard Kimono Robe and Nightgown Set, came, I immediately steamed out the wrinkles and put it on, sat down with coffee, a turnover, and something to read, then emailed her to say this one is now my favorite, as it is hers. This is a part of her sweet answer, "Thank you again. Your kindness, enthusiasm, and trust mean more to me than you know, Elaine. I wish you a wonderful summer, sleeping and lounging like royalty in silk." It's like having a new found friend who treats her business with love. The pillow cases I also ordered are fabulous as well! I'm purring. :)

I sleep on queen-size eiderdown pillows from Icelandic Down, and I truly believed I understood what luxury felt like. I didn’t — not until I paired them with Tara’s silk. Her pillowcases have a more generous cut than anything I’d seen before, and at first, I didn’t understand it. I even wondered if I needed a seamstress to take them in. When I reached out to ask, Tara responded with something that stopped me in my tracks — not just as an answer, but as a window into her mind:

“I know I was too extravagant when designing the envelope closing for our silk pillowcases — a zipper or a more shallow closure would have saved us a lot of fabric. But I want it to drape, I want it to feel really luxurious, and I want it to be just silk that you touch, in whatever position your pillow ends up in.”

That sentence told me everything about her. She wasn’t cutting corners. She wasn’t prioritizing margins. She was prioritizing experience, sensation, and honesty — the way true artisans do.

And honestly, the whole point of a brand is to solve a problem.
If a company cuts corners on pillowcase sizing — making them just tight enough for the pillow to squeeze into — then of course we end up needing pillow protectors, zippers, extra layers, and all the “solutions” invented to compensate for poor design. But because Tara doesn’t cut corners, her work inspired me to question what I actually need… and what I only thought I needed because other brands fell short.

Tara’s work made me realize she wasn’t designing for appearance — she was designing for how silk should behave.
So I decided to test that intention. I removed my pillow protectors — my eiderdown hates restriction anyway — and that’s when her design came alive. Once the silk could drape freely, the pillow was finally able to breathe, expand, and loft the way true down is meant to. Over the next week, I watched it move with me through the night, shifting naturally without ever slipping out of the case. The deeper envelope and the fluid silk worked together like a flexible membrane, not a barrier. It wasn’t just beautiful — it was functional in a way I had never experienced from any pillowcase.

And then I did something I never thought I would do:
I slept without my bonnet.

I’m a Black American woman, and our hair is different — not in the way society likes to suggest, but in the way science confirms. Textured hair, from 3A to 4C, is structurally the most delicate and the most responsive of all hair types. Every coil and bend creates natural weak points that need gentleness, moisture retention, and low friction.

And here’s the truth: bonnets didn’t become our nighttime staple because silk pillowcases weren’t available — they became our staple because most silk pillowcases simply weren’t good enough for the unique needs of textured hair. Thin silks, polyester satins, and charmeuse blends couldn’t keep up with our moisture, our coils, or our overnight responsiveness. So the bonnet became our protective layer by default. But performance-wise, it isn’t much better — it’s more theater than solution, the comfort of the idea of protection rather than true protection.

I picked up a few silk shirts, pants, and underwear from here and honestly the whole experience was AMAZING.

The silk itself is next level. It's soft, breathable, and just feels smooth on the skin. You can tell they put real thought into the details from the stitching to the overall fit.

What I like most is how flexible the pieces are.

The shirts can go casual or dressed up, the pants are comfortable but still look clean, and even the underwear feels premium compared to anything else I’ve tried.

Big shoutout to Tara for making the process easy. I’ll definitely be back for more.

Tara has been irrefutably the most amazing person to interact with. She goes above and beyond for her customers. She took time to personally correspond with me to insure my experience was perfect.
I have purchased 3 blouses, 2 robes, hair scrunchies, sleep pants, a nighty, and pillowcase.
Everything is impeccably crafted and 27 momme the silk is thicker the typical 19-22 momme silk most companies sell.
The French seams are perfect and each piece can be altered to fit the customer.
I have my eyes on a few other pieces then more with further weight loss.
Tara’s clothing is a great investment. The feel of quality mulberry 27 momme silk fabric against the skin cannot be matched.
With minimal care your silk beauties can last for many years.
Treat yourself to luxury and give Tara a try. I can’t wait to get home and slide into my robe, nighty or bottoms.

If you can only invest in one piece to start out I suggest a pillowcase.
Silk provides many benefits to hair and skin, sucking as Less tangles and hair breakage, healthier skin, it is cooling, and absolutely supple against the hair and skin.
Cotton feel nice, but Silk feels like fabric spun by angels.

The courier had mixed up my package. I contacted their customer service department and was helped with great hospitality and in a timely manner. Outstanding customer service!!

I would give Tara and her shirts 10 stars if I could! The material is of extremely high quality and the construction is top notch. I love the French seams. Tara herself is phenomenally responsive. She followed up my order with an email asking how I liked the product. I had some questions about preventing underarm stains from deoderant, and she personally checked out the ingredient list for my current deoderant and suggested another brand that would be safer for the fabric. Absolutely above and beyond! I can’t wait to order another shirt.

My wife and I have bought most of Tara’s product line. We initially didn’t intent to but once we received the first shipment we were hooked. The quality of silk is beyond luscious. It’s thicker than cheaper lesser quality silk and the “back” side is just as soft and lovely as the outside. Tara will make you custom garments and they are wonderful. We asked her to make us custom pajamas and we love them. It has profoundly improved our sleep quality. All her garments are made with French seams and are so well constructed.
Also Tara puts her money where her heart is and gives back to the silk artisans near where she grew up with part of her profits. I can’t recommend her highly enough for all the right reasons. I would give her 10 stars if I could. And yes we will be ordering more in the future.

Very well made, beautifully sewn and the fact that it’s not fast fashion is amazing! Extra bonus is it’s a female owned company that is creating jobs for single moms to work from home and be with their kids. I hope it keeps going and love that my hard earned money went back into this type of business model. I found Tara Sartoria on Etsy after doing research into how silk helps calm the central nervous system...and it worked out that it was time to donate/recycle the teenage PJs in my closet... I ordered: a bedtime slip, a shorts with camisole pajama set and long pants with camisole pajama set. Also have purchased a set of silk face masks to wear during the current cold and flu season. Fabric feels luxurious, strong and is relaxing to wear. I feel the camisoles and slip dress make excellent choices for everyday wear too. Mixing them with some tights, a pair of jeans and a cardigan looks stylish. I can tell the Pajamas I've ordered will last a good while and also fits the figure of my adult body (yes!) The face masks have not been drying to my skin and I can comfortably breathe. Customer support when I had sizing questions...was kind, professional and did go above/beyond to communicate effectively and address any concerns that came up (and it was all during the holiday season too). Since my first round of purchases, I've gifted two pairs of PJ boxers to my boyfriend. He loves them. I can tell the owner has put a lot of thought into her business model and is doing what she can to make an impact that is positive in the textile industry...and that's excellent!

I'll never wear anything else now. They're perfect, true to size (roomy), and feel like wearing nothing at all.

2nd robe purchase. Quality is amazing. Size guide is accurate. We loved the first so much we knew we wanted to share this comfort with others. They kindly added a complimentary hair tie and that was really great to try another silk product.

Love the pair of boxers. My only thing is I need the length of the boxers to be a bit shorter.
