Great wine, nice price.

I placed an order a few months ago, and it wasn’t without issues. The shopping basket system is absolutely ridiculous—the web custodian should be sacked! After entering a £5 discount code, if I needed to change part of the order, returning to the basket removed the discount. Trying to re-enter the code didn’t work—it simply wasn’t recognised anymore.

Next step: contacting customer service. What a time-consuming hassle! Eventually, the issue was resolved, but it took ages. One positive note—the order arrived fairly quickly (despite Yodel being the courier).

A similar problem occurred about two weeks ago, this time with paying via my Amazon account. I messaged customer service and received no response for three days. When they finally replied, the response was simply: "It should be working now." At that point, I was ready to give up on Svinando altogether and explore other Italian wine merchants.

However, before doing so, I decided to give them one last chance. This evening, I attempted to place another order and ran into yet more issues—this time with the wine selections in the basket and free delivery. At checkout, my total was nearly double what it should have been! The system had duplicated and even triplicated my wine choices. When I removed the excess bottles, it also removed my free delivery.

I contacted live chat and waited an absurd amount of time. The advisor, “Jean,” took 10–20 minutes between responses, making the conversation drag on for nearly an hour. In the end, she couldn’t resolve the issue but suggested taking my order via chat and then calling me to collect payment details over the phone. Seriously? Hand over my credit card details to a stranger on the phone? No chance. While Jean was polite and seemed to genuinely try to help, her solution was completely unacceptable.

So here I am—unable to place my order.

It’s a real shame because Svinando offers an excellent selection of wines, and the website itself is visually appealing. However, the shopping basket and payment system are absolutely dreadful, and customer service is abysmal. The whole experience gave the impression of someone lazily sipping a coffee or cocktail in the sun, completely unconcerned about actually assisting customers.

Sadly, I have no choice but to leave a one-star review due to the sheer amount of time I’ve been forced to wasted.

Pleasant wine but NOT for me

Order was slow to arrive, and when it did the wine turned out not to be up to Svinando’s standards. A great disappointment.

I used this service for the first time and have been delighted by the quality of the wine and the quick delivery. I read reviews which complained of slow or late delivery but I was pleasantly surprised to have received my order in under two weeks. Given it has come directly from Italy to Fife, in Scotland that's impressive. I was fully informed throughout. I will certainly use this provider of Italian wines again.
