For a long time, I struggled to find a way to learn Finnish that actually worked for me.

Traditional courses didn't suit my learning style, vocabulary apps felt disconnected from real life, and when I tried reading books, I often encountered advanced vocabulary that wasn't useful for everyday conversations. I couldn't find a clear system that focused on the grammar and vocabulary I truly needed.

Another challenge was that my learning had become fragmented. I couldn't clearly see what I already knew well and what still needed improvement.

Suomify changed that completely.

The app first assessed my level and identified my weak areas. Then it created a personalized learning path that allows me to progress step by step from the basics. I especially appreciate that the exercises are similar to those used in the YKI exam, which helps me prepare for real language tests.

One of my favorite features is that the app builds a personal vocabulary database from the texts and exercises I complete. Combined with Anki-style flashcards and other training methods, it makes vocabulary learning much more effective and meaningful.

What I love most is that Suomify trains all language skills: listening, reading, speaking, grammar, and vocabulary. There is also an excellent AI tutor that allows me to practice conversations on topics that matter to me personally.

I feel much more confident and organized in my studies now, and for the first time I have a clear understanding of my progress.

The support team is wonderful as well. They respond quickly, answer every question, and are always friendly and helpful.

I'm genuinely happy that I found Suomify and would highly recommend it to anyone learning Finnish.

This is what I've been hoping for since I started learning Finnish. Highly tailored for your level, multiple methods of teaching like listening, reading and writing and they all work so well! Proper curriculum exercises and the words you are learning in your vocab are used in other lessons like listening and reading exercises. Very clever, super impressed and leaves apps like Duolingo in the dust. There are a few small issues here and there but honestly they're not worth worrying about imo. The best learning app I've ever used by a country mile.

I guess we all have different approaches to learning in terms of what works for us, and what we can stick to.

I'm not the best at getting out books and studying, but I can work with apps that remind, cajole and sometimes even bully me into doing my practice and learning.

So, for quite a long time, in fact since my Finnish course stopped in Covid times, I have been using the green owl app.

That has made me something of a world expert in repeating and understanding a few phrases, but it hasn't really moved me forward in learning usable Finnish properly.

Step forward Suomify. So far, it has analysed my skills and weaknesses and generated a learning program for me. It includes a lot of information to read so it is easy to learn new things, new parts of the grammar rules etc, and it takes you through exercises each day to help improve your reading, writing, listening and understanding.

I guess for many people working on learning Finnish, apart from wanting to be able to communicate in Finnish, the main aim is to pass the YKI exam, on the way to gaining Finnish citizenship. As well as the Suomify app, there is also a YKI trainer app which helps focus more on the skills and vocabulary needed to pass the exam,

Strangely, one of the things that I have found most appealing so far about the Suomify and YKI trainer apps, is their very "honest and direct" appraisal of my current Finnish skills. I think I really needed to hear how poor my skills are, with good explanations of what I was not understanding and why on the way to generating a path forwards.

I've been working with these apps consistently for a few weeks now, and it feels like I am making better progress, while still having the "competitive" element and the ease of being able to fit in exercises in short spells during the day.

I genuinely think I might have found what I have been looking for to move my Finnish journey forwards.
