Fantastic service from start to finish, they were very thorough. A very professional service and great communication. Building control had a few questions and they sorted it within the hour. Cant fault their services. Drawings were clear even for me to understand. Reasonable prices for the job allocated. Thanks again!
Avoid this company if you want collaborative service. After misinterpreting a basic layout sketch—which they requested—they are now demanding a 100% price increase (doubling the original fee) to issue a correction.
Their engineering team misapplied a localised measurement to a joists layout, ignoring the fact that the sketch visually illustrated varying joist lengths. Because they rely strictly on a desk assessment and never offered or conducted a site survey, this discrepancy went completely unnoticed.
After being alerted that their proposed drawings were unsafe for the actual span, they voided their previous work and refused to correct it without an exorbitant new fee. This predatory pricing tactic has left my project stalled with zero commercial value delivered for the initial fee paid. Highly unprofessional behaviour.

I note your response, but you have conveniently omitted the core issue regarding your business practices and pricing.
While you emphasise safety, you are using this layout discrepancy as commercial leverage. You requested a 'simple sketch' which I provided. That sketch visually and clearly illustrated that the joists were varying lengths and that the 1040mm zone was isolated to the chimney breast. Your remote desk assessment completely ignored this visual data, and at no point did your firm offer or suggest a standard physical home visit or site survey to verify the structural realities of a 4-metre room layout.
Furthermore, you fail to address why your solution to this layout clarification is to demand double the original contract price rather than a professional, proportional amendment fee. Declaring your own issued plans unsafe to use and then demanding a 100% fee increase to rectify the drawing is an exploitative, predatory pricing tactic. I have officially terminated your services for failure to deliver a usable, fit-for-purpose design and I am proceeding with a formal dispute.

We are disappointed to read this review, as it leaves out important information about the project.
Before carrying out the structural assessment, we specifically asked the client to provide “the full joist span between the walls or beams supporting the joists”.
The client replied in writing:
“The full span from chimney breast and the bearing wall is 1040mm.”
The original sketch supplied at the same time also showed an approximate 1040 mm span. Our calculations and drawings were therefore prepared using the information provided and confirmed by the client.
After the completed package had been issued, the client advised that the joist arrangement differed from the support condition we had understood from the original information. A later, more detailed sketch then showed different spans that had not been provided before the original design was completed.
Once this became clear, we advised that the original package should not be relied upon for the clarified arrangement and that the cylinder should not be installed or filled until the structure had been reassessed.
The proposed 45 × 95 mm C24 joist was also checked for the 1040 mm design span and passed the structural calculations.
The need for further engineering work arose because the site arrangement later provided differed from the information used for the original assessment. It was not simply a correction to calculations carried out using the original information.
We remain willing to deal with the matter professionally based on the clarified site information.

This is a great service that I’d happily recommend. I needed structural calculations and drawings for taking down a load-bearing wall as part of a kitchen refurb and had been quoted a much higher price by a local structural engineer, so I was really pleased to find SE Calcs offering exactly what I needed at a much more reasonable cost.
They were easy to deal with from the start – really responsive and happy to answer all my questions, which made the whole process feel straightforward and stress-free. Communication was clear throughout, and I always felt like I knew what was going on.
The turnaround time was brilliant too. Everything was completed within 48 hours, which was quicker than I expected and helped keep my project on track. The quality of the work was spot on as well, so no complaints there.

These guys are just the best ! A previous company let us down at the last minute and we were struggling to find another company that could accommodate our tight deadline ! SEcalcs helped me with calculations for my loft conversion. It was straight forward and very easy to get going. The calculations were recieved before the time frame and they were very easy to understand for someone like me who has no idea about construction.
