I had writers block and was unable to finish my story. I had been working on it for ten years. They found a writer who worked closely with me and we completed my story under the timeline. The layout was beautiful. I received the finished product and it is gorgeous.

I recently had a book written about my parents through StoryTerrace, and overall, it was a wonderful experience. The highlight of the process was working with our assigned writer, Jenny. She was fantastic—highly professional, warm, and made my parents feel completely at ease during the interviews. She really brought out their stories with care and authenticity.

The StoryTerrace platform, Bookmaker, was user-friendly and made it easy to review drafts, make comments, and upload photos. It streamlined the collaboration and editing process, which was a big help.

The final book turned out beautifully. While the prose could have used a little more polish in places, the essence of our family’s story came through clearly and meaningfully.

My only real critique is that most communications from StoryTerrace were fairly boilerplate. That said, whenever I had a specific question or needed assistance, the team responded quickly and helpfully.

All in all, StoryTerrace delivered on its promise to help preserve our family’s legacy in book form. I'm grateful for the experience and would recommend it to others looking to capture their loved ones' stories.

The excellent selection of a writer Alex Grant:
1.Patient and responsive to my suggested way of working although new to him namely:
Prior to each one to one session I would before hand gather my thoughts on the period, event or issue to be covered and convert them into a "mind-map"the compuerised version of which I would forward to Alex. Hence we had a structure containing details to be discussed along with names and places which I think helped Alex and not lease me to avoid pause in our meetings and omissions.
2. The challenge Alex had was that the Biography was, as he has described, a Portmanteau in that it had two interacting parts: my career and personal life.
3. The challenge Alex had of understanding the scientific aspects of my career given that he did not have a scientific education. As a result we decided to try and explain the science at the level we would do if talking to a bar maid. This, it has been said, is what all true scientists should be able to do.
4 Alex's writting is very smooth and clear and I hope will encourage my grand children and some of my grown up children and step children to read the biography as literature reading is not a regular occupation of some of them them.
5.Alex dealt well with my editing and addtions to the text and patience over the 2.5 years journey it took to complete the printed book.
6. Turning to the role of the editor(s). it turns out that there were quite a number during the 2.5 years. The earlier ones had in fact little to do and I was wondering what are they supposed to do! The final editor Xiaofang Ma took the reins where I was able to appreciate his role in steering me through finalising the text, and layout the photographic material. Here he gave me a free hand to lay it out in a captioned Power Point formate which worked well. While I had decided that approach my self I think it would be good if the editor explained is or her role in finalising the manuscritp for printing. Here such suggstions as Power Point would have been instructive at the outset.
In the end the whole process went suprisingly smoothly.

I found the process truly psychotherapeutic. I chose my author based primarily on her preference to meet face to face. This was my choice also, to establish an empathic understanding.
Production and editing of the drafts were easy after I managed to navigate their website,
I chose to have a family tree, and that was perhaps the most arduous part of my exercise, although I had all the information to hand.
Errors and omissions were easy to fix, and now I have received the finished article.
A truly satisfying process.

Great concept, good supportive process throughout, lovely and talented people. A great way to write a book.

From the beginning of my book 📖 adventure, I was guided to a good writer fit. An easy computer friendly platform to review the cover, manuscript, placement of pictures and publishing to Amazon.com.

I have been unable to complete the project for my grandma since she has become too mentally unwell to have another interview.
I’m very frustrated that I can’t get even a partial refund - most of the work has not been completed so I’m not sure why I can’t get some money back.

I have paid over £10,000.00 for the Novella Package. Then suddenly I get an email out of the blue asking me to pay the final payment of £2932.50. Before the final payment was due I was supposed to get a full chapter and a table of contents for the book but have received neither. I have been sending emails for over 6 months now but absolutely no resolution whatsoever expect holding emails to say they are dealing with my complaint. I have paid for 10 people to put their input into the book as it is about my dead Brother and he worked in the Film Industry so there were lots of stories to tell.
To say I am heartbroken about this exciting adventure I embarked upon 2 years ago Story Terrace have ruined this for me! I would not want anyone else to go through what I have been through whilst still grieving the loss of my Brother. Please be careful with your money !!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!

Sent today after a poor excuse from the project Manager about my book......telling me he can't get involved unless I pay the final payment of £2932.50 which is not due until I have proof read a chapter and a table of contents.....

I am currently in the process of completing a Claim Form online on HMRC.
I am also reporting the Company for charging VAT on my invoices and I have a legal right to know whether my VAT has been paid over to HMRC!
You might not be in charge of the finances but you are in charge of the process for the book.
I am entitled to see a full chapter and a table of contents before my final payment is due!

The book is about my DEAD Brother a Film Director who has worked with many many famous people such as Jason Statham, Sir David Jason, David Suchet, Guy Ritchie, Madonna, John lynch, John Hannah, all the friends cast, the fantastic four cast and many more.
I do not lie and I am telling you this – if I do not receive either a refund or the chapter and table of contents this week then I am afraid the following will be all over every single social media website I can find including all the emails to and from Story Terrace including the money claim I will be finalising today.
You will not sell another book by the time I have contacted all the Directors that have wasted their valuable time telling Martin Milnes about Michael’s days in the Film Industry so once they all find out it will be a sad day for you all.

You have breached our contract not me and you can use every excuse in the book that you are not getting involved in this but you are wrong – you are managing the Projects so you should do what you are stating in your contracts so I ask once again where is my first Chapter for proofing along with the table of contents for proofing,. I believe the final payment then follows my proof reading of these???
You have stolen confidential information about my Brother and stories from famous people already in the Film Industry that have placed their trust in your Martin Milnes and the book about Mick Ward First Assistant Director – check him out on IMDB…. He was even listed in the BAFTA awards.
I am also an accountant so I have the means and the power to upset your fraudulent Company including reporting you to HMRC……
I await a further response and if this is not satisfactory then I will unleash everything I have and warn other British People that are about to be ripped off, lied to and stolen from…..

I had a really great experience working with Xiaofang Ma at Story Terrence. She helped me to put my book on Amazon and on every other Side there is out there. She is very prompt with everything when you write her a question she answers right away. I think I was back-and-forth with at least 50 of them and she has so much patience and she is so Understanding with everything.

I had an idea in my head that I wanted to write a book about a personal experience that I had had over the last couple of years. I am not confident with my own writing and language skills and after discussions with friends who encouraged me to 'write' a book I started looking for a ghost writer and came across Story Terrace. I emailed for further information and did not have to wait long to before a reply came in the form of a phone call. I felt quite comfortable talking to the person on the phone who did not do a hard sell and was very informative about the process. I was given time to consider with no harrasment and phoned in a coupe of days time to state I wanted to go ahead. I have had constant emails to guide me through the process with a telephone call with the editor who was the person who was pairing me with a writer. I was emailed the information of a writer they thought would be a good match and I was able to read their profile and read samples of their work. I was happy with this and was then introduced to my writer. I have gone through the process of the interviews with Lauren, my writer, and had a wonderful experience. She was always on time, thoughtful in what she said to me, listened to me attentively and kept me right with what was happening. I have now completed the interviews and have had the opportunity to see the outline of the book with chance for me to adjust spelling of names and timeframes. After consenting to the outline I very quickly received the first chapter of my book to see if I was happy with the style and content of writing. I can honestly say that I was blown away with the first chapter. It proved that Lauren really listened to me and appears to have captured the essence of what happened and has retold it as if it is me talking and took me right back to the time in question. I allowed my parents to read this and they were astounded that it sounded like it were my very own words. I am extremely impressed so far and am very excited to read the final product. Cant recommend them enough so far!

I found Barnaby Tydeman to be extremely helpful & knowledgeable in his advice & patient as he had to rewrite the chapters on numerous occasions.
Without him I don’t think the book would have taken off .
The Project Manager Hariny Vanniarajan was also extremely helpful in her advice.
Nothing was too much trouble.
