Charging £16 without any consent

Charging £16 without any consent. I paid over £2 for CV preparation once and thought it would be the end until to my big surprise I saw a £16 charge out of the blue. This looks like a scam.

Svar fra StandOut CV

Hi Aura, sorry for any misunderstanding but it seems you signed up for our monthly plan, which you would have seen the details for at the plan-selection page and the checkout (see full pricing details here: https://standout-cv.com/cv-builder-pricing)
If you contact me on customer.support@standout-cv.com I'll do my best to resolve this for you. You can of course cancel your subscription at any time from within your account in the meantime

Misleading charges

The service itself is good, but the charges are not presented clearly. I thought I had purchased a "14-day Full Access" at £2.70, only to discover at the end of the period that this was a trial and I was automatically enrolled into a monthly plan and charged £16.95. Please call a trial a trial and make more explit in your communication that people are subscribing to a monthly service. Extremly disappointed.

Very useful

nice page, especially the quick change of layout and the prompts for all the fields are really helpful.
I wish there were an option to move stuff around before downloading though

Avoid ! The 14 day free trial is not free…

I used the 14 day free trial and tried to cancel but the website will not recognise my log in details. It would not send the "forgot password" email making it impossible to cancel.
They have now taken 3 payments for a service that is impossible to use.
I am raising a dispute with my bank as I refuse to pay for a service I am not using.
Looking at other reviews it seems this is a way to fleece customers, as the site makes you put card details in for the 14 day FREE trial but then blocks you out of the system so you are unable to cancel.
I wonder how many people they are drawing £15 a month from?

Svar fra StandOut CV

Hi there. Sorry to hear of your frustration.
As explained via email, we don’t offer a free trial - you signed up to our 14-day trial for £2.70, which then renews at £16.95 every 4 weeks and can be cancelled anytime. Subscription details are shown twice at sign-up and also here: https://standout-cv.com/cv-builder-pricing.

We cancelled your subscription immediately upon request and refunded your most recent payment.

Hope thats an agreeable solution

⚠️ Warning: Predatory Subscription Trap ⚠️

I want to caution others about the deceptive subscription practices I experienced with StandOutCV.

I signed up for a 14-day trial in 2024 and remenber that I cancelled it after trial. After 7 months I found that they are taking their suscrption from me on the background, while I never used it again.
When I raised this issue and asked for a refund, StandOutCV refused, showing no regard for fairness or consumer rights.
After this teible problem, I had to buy one months suscription and asked them to give me one month for free to compensate 5 months payment, but they refused.
This company appears to thrive on exploiting customers who lose track of their subscriptions. Hidden cancellation policies, limited invoices, and lack of transparency are not the practices of an honest business—they are tactics to trap users into ongoing payments.

👉 My advice: stay far away from StandOutCV.

Svar fra StandOut CV

Hi Mohammad. Sorry to hear you’re unhappy. As explained via email, you signed up to our 14-day trial January 2025 which auto-renews into a four-weekly subscription unless cancelled. Subscription details were clearly displayed at sign-up, checkout, and can always be viewed here: https://standout-cv.com/about/cv-builder-pricing. Your subscription was not cancelled until 2nd September 2025, when you contacted us and we cancelled it immediately on your behalf. You then chose to re-subscribe on 3rd September, and as you are only one day into this 28-day term, we cannot provide additional free months. Subscriptions can also be cancelled at any time from within your account, using the steps shown here: https://standout-cv.com/cancel-standout-cv-builder-subscription.
