At SR22 Insurance, we work with drivers the court or DMV has told to file an SR-22 before they can drive legally again. If you got that letter, the state wants proof that you carry at least its minimum liability coverage. The SR-22 is the form that proves it. Your insurance company sends it to the state, which keeps it on file. People usually need a filing after a DUI or DWI, a reckless driving charge, getting stopped with no insurance, causing a crash while uninsured, or losing their license over too many points. Many of our customers have already been turned down elsewhere or quoted a price they can't afford. We find a policy that fits your record and get the filing to your state, so you can move on to reinstating your license. We offer: • SR22 car insurance for drivers who own or lease a vehicle • Non-owner SR22 insurance if you don't have a car but need your license back or drive borrowed and rented cars How it works: • Tell us your state, what's on your record and whether you have a car. • We look for a policy that meets your state's requirement at a price you can manage. • Once you buy, the SR-22 goes to your state, and you can start on reinstatement. • Keep the policy active for the full period. After that, the filing can come off and you can shop for regular coverage. Non-owner policies A non-owner policy pays for damage or injuries you cause while driving a car that isn't yours. It won't pay to fix the car you were driving, and it doesn't cover your own injuries. It also isn't meant for a car you drive all the time, like a spouse's car parked in your driveway. In that case the insurer may want that vehicle on a standard policy. Cost Looking for cheap SR22 insurance? If you don't own a car, a non-owner policy usually costs much less because insurers expect you to drive less. Your state and the reason for the filing also affect the cost. A DUI on your record raises it noticeably. Keeping coverage active matters, too. If a policy lapses, your insurer has to notify the state, your license can be suspended again, and in most states the SR-22 period starts over. Most states require the filing for about three years, sometimes longer after a DUI. We'll explain what applies in your state before you buy.
