Looking over some of the good reviews, these seem to be written from people who haven’t made a claim. The process was easy to buy the insurance, I’ve phoned them a couple of times and got through straight away. However, I want to make a claim. And this is where it starts going down hill. You are sent through to an AXA portal. I have entered my details and they cannot verify them. So I phoned AXA, all details correct. They are not sure why I cannot access the AXA portal. So I phoned Southdowns and they confirmed all details are correct. While I was on the phone I asked them where is the AXA call centre based. Mexico!!! There’s the problem, the line is not great, hard to understand. I had to phone them back in the hope to get someone else because I couldn't tell what he was saying. My annual insurance is due and I’m not renewing it. I have no hope for my claim after reading over reviews. I will take out my next insurance where there claims call centre is in the UK

Really helpful advisor who took me through a complex upgrade to my insurance needed for medical conditions in a helpful way that made it easy and felt supportive. Identified the best deal possible for the level of cover I was seeking.

Been with the company now for a few years and always easy to talk to and get fair quote. Fingers crossed as of yet not needed to make a claim and that's the real deal to how they operate but I'm confident and hopeful with the way they communicate they will handle themselves honestly.

My daughter got ill whilst on our holiday - we did everything asked for by the insurance company- receipts from the hospital, Dr notes, receipts of medicines, they asked for proof that we were actually where we said we were - we supplies all boardingpasses and tickets, then they asked for NHS records - the records on the NHS app is not enough- they requested full medical history which proved difficult as my daughter is at Uni and have changed Dr.. in the end we gave up - it feels like a scam - this was a completely legitimate claim, we wasted time calling them, emailing all the documents but the insurance company it to complicated with the full medical history being so difficult to get.
If you want to feel like you are safely insured when on holiday - stay away from this company.
