Wish I had read reviews before using…
Wish I had read reviews before using this local charger but I had no choice as it’s the only one on estate. At first it kept coming up as unavailable when it clearly was so it took several tries. Then there’s the £49 fee debited from one’s card before any charging has begun. Absolutely rip off rates aswell.
Avoid!!!!
Avoid!!!!
I have just cancelled my membership as I am sick and tired of being ripped off.
- it’s much more expensive than other providers even with the resident discount
- the idle fees kick in after 5 minutes which is impractical and unfair. I always end up with extra charges
- the customer service is appalling
Please write your local councillor and MP as they need to hold Source to account or move London to a service provider that offers adequate customer support and value for money!
Poor customer service and faulty chargers
Lots of their chargers don't work - on two occassions my charging cable has got stuck in the charger (because there has been a fault wth the charging point). Took ages to get through to customer services to get it sorted (in the meantime being charged for the privilege of being stuck) and then once sorted, customer services not interested in offering any credit for the additional charging time (despite being orginally told they would offer credit).
Avoid as much as you can!
They just ripped off 49 for Pay as You go ?
Avoid, £147 with no charge...
I was (initially) pleased to find shiny new charges on Curzon Road North London, and decided to give then a try. After 15min of frustration with the app and £49 poorer, I concluded there must be an issue with the charging pillar so moved to the neighbouring pillar which took another 2 x £49 without initiating a charge. I eventually gave up and moved my car to the char.gy lamppost charger down the road, which worked first time with no issue. After 10 days I am still waiting with the £147 charge to be reversed, which looks like could take up to 31 days? Needless to say I will not risk using this company again, and advise you to avoid.
Simply dreadful company
For the first time in a long time I used a company/service without checking it out on TP and boy did I pay for this oversight with Source London!
I won’t detail my experience as it is no different to every other poster here - simply prohibitively expensive and slow and the retention of a hefty ‘deposit’ for weeks is borderline criminal.
The fact that Tfl have done absolutely zero to bring this bunch under control is no surprise and wouldn’t be tolerated in any other major European city.
Will probably seek satisfaction via Small Claims online as that’s easy & effective.
Avoid Source (unless desperate) and/or rich and masochistic
Avoid… they are super expensive 69p/kWh…
Avoid… they are super expensive 69p/kWh
Spent 36£ to charge 70% it is more expensive than running a petrol car.
So bad
So bad. Avoid. Take your money (twice). Chargers then don’t work. Zero customer service.
Avoid!!
Avoid!!! 16th Feb 2022 I plugged into device 1 and started charging using my Source London RFID card. Returned to car after 2 hours to find charger had stopped. Called SL and they told me they had charged me £4.60 idle fee for parking on charger without charging. Charger had stopped after a few minutes. They reset the charger and told me to charge again and that they would refund the idle fee. 6 weeks later no refund and no record of the failed charge. Disgusting customer service and incredibly high rate 69p/ kWh.
Update… it took them 6 months to refund the idle fee that they charged in error. TFL and the Mayor of London should strip this company of its contract and award it to InstaVolt or Gridserve. Total Oil own Source London and are trying to price London drivers back into fossil cars. It’s shameful and the Mayor should stop this theft right now.
Quite possibly the worst technology to…
Quite possibly the worst technology to have been release in the 20’s. If this was technology made in the 1820’s I wouldn’t be surprised. They should really be embarrassed by their software. It’s shameful.
Have just used this for the first time…Shall be cancelling
Have just used this for the first time as a Camden resident. After 6 hours charging I disconnected and got a bill for £6.77 in addition to the £4 standing order.
Desperately slow, very expensive and so shall be cancelling our membership. This should be a service welcomed by Londoners and not a sense of being ripped off.
TFL should be taking action on the operators.
To be avoided - don’t risk it
I tried four machines in succession, as directed by one of Source London’s staff who was on the phone line to me at the same time. None of the machines worked, but in each occasion Source London deducted £49 from my bank account. I was assured (including by email) that the money would be refunded to my account by 20 August, but I have received nothing so far. I wondered why none of their machines was being used. Now I know! Don’t risk it. Awful.
£80 because I left the car plugged in…
£80 because I left the car plugged in overnight. Was I meant to wake up and unplug it at 2am?! Criminal
Very expensive
Very expensive. The same speed is that they provide is either free or at 17 pence per kilowatt. Source London is 69 pence /kW. Also their charging system are not straight forward. Avoid get alternative.
Tried to charge twice
Tried to charge twice. Took 98 GBP from my account, despite no charge taken place I can expect a refund in 2 weeks. While writing this, two other people been charged 49 each for a charge that didn’t happen. Sounds like a Ponzi scheme to me.
The WORST charging service to exist. Do NOT use.
The WORST charging service to ever exist. I can't even begin to explain the number of nightmares I've had with Source London. To start, the customer service experience has bee the worst I have ever received, the staff are not trained and all tell you different things. I just discovered that my account wasn't cancelled and they have still been charging me a monthly subscription fee for nearly a year. Every time I speak to someone at Source I am left infuriated do to their incompetence. Their charging points are so unreliable, they don't charge your car, there is always some sort of error. I rarely say this but Source London is the worst company I have ever dealt with, from all aspects of the experience. Do NOT use them.
Unbelievably expensive
Unbelievably expensive prices, hiked rapidly over the past year and a half. I'm fully aware of the costs of energy increases, but this is extraordinary. My EV had a 90kwh battery and a range of about 230 miles. Prices have just been hiked to £0.69p/KWh, meaning a full charge which was capped last year at £7 has now become £62.10p. At that price and range, petrol is cheaper!!! I have now given up on my EV and gone back to a small engined petrol car, sadly.
The customer service is BAD. Many times I've had to call as a charger didn't work, or it wouldn't release my cable and I spoke to someone with very poor English skills, so conversations are hard, especially when you need a quick resolution.
All in all it seems to be a monopoly company being badly run. Seriously needs competition, but I don't think that'll be allowed!
Terrible service STAY AWAY!!
Avoid them at all costs
Tried to use a charger, the app crashed just after the £49 hold went through and then it wouldn't allow me to charge the car. Didn't want to try again and get a another ridiculously large hold charge. Now it's coming up to a month and I've yet to get that money back, and had no responses when contacting them.
Customer abuse fee
I am using source over a year already and until two days ago I haven’t had any problems with them.
I lost my source card unfortunately and as I have a full-electric car, I need almost daily to charge it for work purposes.
The only charging point near my flat is the source ones and nothing else.
So two days ago I realise I lost my card and I did try to charge my car as pays you go because I rely on it to work.
Although source charge people £49 fee deposit every single time when you charge your car. It means until my replacement card arrives, every day source will take £49 pounds as a deposit for me to charge my car as pays you go?
😱 this is mental!!!
They will refund me back in seven working days.
I strongly believe this is a really customer’s abuse as I have subscription with them and still they would take as a deposit £49 pounds daily regarding every time when I charge my car.
I am very disappointed and frustrated the way source deal with this.
Why £49 daily as a deposit? Refundable in seven working days even for someone whom has subscription? That’s mad
The only point for the source company does this extremely disgusting behaviour is:
Any company when keep in its bank account huge amount of money, the bank itself offer to the company a huge amount of credit and therefore the credit offered to the source is possible because of the customers money, £49 pounds deposit fee without reason for those who already has subscription with them?
I do hope so they will look into this and find a better solution for the sake of its customers
